Dad advertises kid for sale. Price: $5,000
Jason Derek Brown has been a fugitive since November of 2004. According to the FBI, that was when Brown allegedly pulled an armored car heist in the parking lot of a movie theater in Phoenix, Arizona. During the robbery, Brown allegedly shot and killed guard Robert Palomares, age 24; five slugs to the guard's head from a .45-caliber.
Brown hauled off $56,000 from the robbery, made his getaway on a mountain bike.
I've been familiar with the story of this member of the FBI's Top Ten for some time. I couldn't help but be curious, because he had the makings of a master criminal, in many respects -- making him a pretty scary dude. After all, Brown has a Masters Degree in International Business and he speaks fluent French. He's a sporty, showy guy who likes to be the center of attention, make like he's a high-roller with lots of cash.
It's hard not to wonder why the FBI hasn't caught him yet.
Turns out authorities may be closer than ever to putting playboy Jason Derek Brown behind bars. A witness who was once a Mormon missionary with Brown recently spotted the fugitive in Salt Lake City. Basically, the witness looked over at a red light and damned if he didn't see Jason Brown in the other car. Brown's hair was longer and he was deeply tanned, but it was the same guy.
Once Brown locked eyes with the other driver, the spark of recognition between them compelled the fugitive to hit the gas. He drove through the light.
Expect America's Most Wanted to be all over this one.
As usual, if you have information that might lead to the arrest of Top Ten Most Wanted Fugitive Jason Derek Brown aka Jason D. Brown, Derek Brown, Greg Johnson or Greg Harline Johnson, contact your local FBI field office. The feds are offering $100,000 as a reward for info that leads directly to Brown's arrest.

How crazy that he was there where people who knew him could see him...you would think he would have went somewhere where he wouldn't run into many Mormons.
Posted 09/18/2008 at 02:16:36 PMKinda hard to be a high roller for four years with just $56,000--it couldn't have lasted too long. Did he grow up in SLC? Or have good friends there?
I agree with cassee01--why go where there is a high concentration of Mormons? Since he was a missionary, I assume he grew up in that religion.
Hopefully, LE will get him, now that they have a new description, a car to look for, etc.
Posted 09/18/2008 at 02:54:08 PMHe actually grew up in so Cal.He does have friends and ties to utah as he lived there for a while.I would be surprised as some of you have said that he would be so obvious to hang out in Utah where he was well known.Jason was a good friend of mine and all this has been very surprising.I often google his name and am curious to what he is doing and when he will be found.I guess you really never know someone.RIP K.P Very sad
Posted 10/26/2008 at 02:22:32 PMWhy would he stay here? Go to a different country... France perhaps?
Posted 08/25/2009 at 09:19:07 PMI remember this guy when he was a kid. His dad coached a couple of my baseball teams. Apparently he was a lot like his dad, lots of toys and cars, a bragert con man. My theory is that he's in Canada somewhere where French is spoken. He vacationed there and was familiar with the place. Cant believe he'd hang around Utah after being spotted. Someones helping this guy out, family, friends. Cant wait for his capture, He needs to pay in this life and the next..............
