Pedophile politician's $150,000 bribery scheme
I interviewed an acquaintance of the Morris family about the September 3, 2008 disappearance of Kelly Currin Morris from her rural home in Stem, North Carolina. This friend wishes to remain anonymous, but she was willing to tell a little more about how friends and neighbors viewed Scott and Kelly and events since Kelly vanished, supposedly while out searching for her dog. For narrative ease, I'll refer to anonymous as BB.
"I've know Scott and Kelly for about 3 years," BB told me, "Their youngest daughter, Hailey, went to the same pre-school as my child. Linda Wilkins runs that pre-school, Hearts and Minds. It's the one across the street from [the Morris] home."
Asked to clarify the question of whether or not Scott has helped in the search for his wife, BB said that "Scott has not helped with Kelly's search whatsoever." She added, "He refuses to speak to the press as well."
I asked her to tell me about Scott's reputation among locals, what he was like in person. BB said, "Scott seems like a very quiet, keep to himself kind of person."
She continued: "I've heard from numerous locals that he somehow got away with murder back in 2000. Not really sure of any details on that story."
She repeated a story already referenced in a post made to the True Crime Report earlier today. BB said that Scott has allegedly "made comments to Kelly like, 'I could throw your body in a well around here and no one would ever find you.'"
Otherwise, she said, she usually sees Scott "at the Elementary school in the mornings" when taking her own child to school. "He looks like his normal self," she said.
When I asked BB if the police were on the right track in the investigation into Kelly's disappearance, she said, "Honestly, it wouldn't suprise me if Scott knew the truth. So, yes...I do think the police are on the right track."
I also wanted to know if BB thought that Kelly Morris might be somewhere nearby. BB said, "Oh wow...of course! This town may be small but it's mostly wooded area. Plus we have hundreds of ponds and 2 large lakes around here and there's just way too much ground to cover."
In answer to the question, "What do you think happened?" BB said, "You know...I think about this everyday and I'm just not too sure what I think happened to Kelly. It's just frustrating that Scott says that Kelly took the kids to school the morning of the fire and that's the last time he saw her...then changes his story to she went looking for the dog the night before and never came home."
BB continued, "You would think he would have been worried and started calling around or even went to look for her. I just wonder if there were any missed calls from Scott to Kelly that night before the fire when she was supposedly searching for the dog.
"Honestly Steve," BB said, "this is such a small town and everyone knows everyone and it is very unlikely for someone to want to harm Kelly for any reason. It just seems to point in the direction of her marriage with Scott."
Finally, I asked BB to tell me more about Kelly as a person. What kind of mother was she?
"Kelly was an AWESOME mother!" BB said. "She attended all the school functions and would have helped out in any way she possibly could. But for some reason, for the last month, when I would see Kelly she just looked like an unhappy person. Like something was bothering her on the inside. But there is no way in this world that she would have left those children. She cared too much about them!"
BB promised to keep me updated on new developments in the investigation. Everyone in Stem, BB said, is "extremely interested in finding Kelly and we're all willing to help in any way possible. We just want her back home and safe."

I find it very interesting that "Scott got away with murder" how is it that there is no record of arrest if "he got away with this". It is a shame that people jump to conclusions and make assumptions when they don't know people except in passing. You have no idea what Scott is going through or how he is working with the police.
Posted 09/15/2008 at 03:11:49 PMI feel compelled to reply to Mel about 'Scott got away with murder'. Getting away with murder could possibly mean that he was never arrested, maybe he was not even a suspect in said murder, if there was one. I think people are concerned about Kelly and voicing what they may have heard, and no one offered up proof that this was a 'fact'. The only way this will be solved is if 'all the information' given to law enforcement is investigated and ruled in or out of their investigation. You are right, we have no idea what Scott is going through, however there has been very little indication that he is working with the police, especially since he has been named a 'person of interest'. If he had nothing to do with her disappearance I am sure everyone will breath a sigh of relief that this is not another case of 'domestic violence/murder' in North Carolina. Without rushing to judgment, the facts and timeline do not look promising for him, however I sincerely hope we are all wrong in our thinking.
Posted 09/15/2008 at 05:34:29 PMMel you must be kin to Scott, huh? Is that why you're the only person taking up for him. I have no clue who Scott is. I don't even live in North Carolina anymore, but I do know that all the evidence is pointing straight to him. I went to school with Kelly. She was a good person and if he did kill her he deserves everything that's coming to him. He better hope the police get to him before all the granville county boys do.
Posted 09/15/2008 at 11:35:47 PMWell Said Leigh-Ann...no one's accusing scott but the facts are the facts...just because he may not have been caught yet doesn't mean he didn't do it...doesn't mean he did. Of course he's going to be the prime suspect right now because HE'S the one changing his story about last seeing Kelly...HE'S the one making comments about hiding her body! Did he last see her the night before...or the day of...? Who the hell even knows anymore...It's frustrating because her family and friends are going through pure hell trying to find out anything they possibly can about Kelly's disapearance. This is a HUGE shock to this whole town...We've never had anything like this happen here...No one knows what to think or believe at this point!
Posted 09/16/2008 at 03:44:25 AMI'm not kin to Scott but I know him and Kelly. I think it is ridiculous that beachbunny is throwing out all these rumors and speculation. False rumors and speculation cause havoc on law enforcement from doing a proper job in solving crimes. I believe in allowing the authorities to do their jobs and prove someone guilty in a court of law instead of assuming someone is guilty because of speculation.
Posted 09/16/2008 at 09:30:04 AMIf law enforcement is trained properly, they know not to listen to rumors and speculation. I have lived in Granville County all my life and have first hand knowledge that our DA ain't taking nothing to court unless it is a win from the beginning. That can be a good or bad thing. If you know anything about the people in our county, you know that we are gonna gossip about the neighbors using different colored christmas lights; so don't think we ain't gonna speculate about something of this nature. I don't know Scott nor Kelly, but I do know that if it walks like a duck, talks like a duck; it is probably a DUCK.
Posted 09/16/2008 at 11:13:37 AMWe do speculate don't we?!? This town is so small that everyone knows everyone and most of the time their business as well. And believe me...We DON'T try too! Personally, I think Scott is a great guy...BUT the stories just don't match up. THIS IS JUST MY OPINION...Not everyone knows what goes on behind closed doors...BUT those that DO are the ones finally speaking up. And MEL...my opinion (along with alot of other people) is in no way interfering with the law inforcement and them officially making Scott a person of interest. There's a reason he's a person of interest now...and THAT is the Law Inforcement doing their job. I'm sure the hundred and some volunteers that have been searching for DAYS AND DAYS would agree with that.
Posted 09/16/2008 at 12:09:23 PMI'm not here to judge anyone as this is the first time I've been on this forum. It's easy for someone, including LE to look to the spouse. First, they are the first people they try to rule out. Second, we have cases in the past that point to the spouse, ie...Scott Peterson, Mark Hacking and I'm sure a lot more.
Posted 09/16/2008 at 04:18:41 PMI will continue to keep up with the case but I do not intend to make myself judge, jury and executioner. I would simply like to see this mother found, alive and healthy. If that is not to be...then I pray they find the person who murdered her and find justice for her.
LET HE WHO IS WITHOUT SIN CAST THE FIRST STONE.
I believe the husband killed her, and I believe it happened the Night before the Fire.
Posted 11/09/2008 at 01:48:58 PMA Story says the husband called his father to watch the kids and he needed to go look for the wife and that night something happened.
I believe the murder took place there at home, and the reason the house was set on fire was to cover up any evidence that was there from the crime.
Mel...Why are you defending Scott? Scott's not the one missing and Kelly is not the one telling lies to authorities. You know what, you are correct, Scott has helped the police. He has helped the police by pointing the finger at himself with his stories that do not match. You say what people are saying is speculation...where's the speculation at honey? It is not speculation that he has lied about the situation from the beginning, it is fact. Think about what you have said. The search warrant is available for you to read on wral.com's website, or at least it was. That is also not speculation, that is fact and filed in the courthouse. SO let's say he had nothing to do with Kelly's disapearance, why Lie and why has he not helped for one minute try to find his wife???? Do you have a better idea of who might have done this? Lets see, evidence isn't pointing elsewhere. It would be nice if he did not do this, but I'm just not convinced.
Posted 12/01/2008 at 10:33:48 PMNo matter if the truth comes out today or sometime soon it is obvious from evidence and changing stories who did what.I grew up in Stem and hunted the area.I know there are just too many places to hide evidence that might take time to find. When I grew up there the pastor of the Tallyho Baptist Church once said that it was the meanest small cummunity he had ever lived in due to crime and murder back then. I see after all this time the community has not changed so much. It surely is a terrible tradition to somehow carry on. For the family of Kelly, my heart goes out.I can not even imagine.
Posted 12/26/2008 at 02:26:45 PMI think of this girl every day, as I am sure others do, not to mention her family. I hope and trust that more is happening on the investigation than we hear about. In my mind I imagine some investigator out there who cannot get her and her loved ones off of his heart and mind, who struggles for the solution just as the family struggles with the loss.
Posted 01/30/2009 at 04:47:34 AMi am so glad they found her.i know the pain her family has been going through.i went through the very same thing in 1999.i hope they get everyone involved if anyone else is involved including the ones who helped cover it up.they never got all of the ones involved in my daughters murder.god gave the currins a miracle just like he did for us by bring our daughters home.he will continue to help them through this.please keep them in your prayers
