Did gold digger kill her elderly boyfriend?
Fire on Military Road: The Frensley Family Murders
The one-story home at 169 Military Road was on fire. Locals knew that Kristy (or Kristi, according to one source) Frensley lived there with her children: Kayla Williams, her 17-year-old daughter, born prior to Kristi's marriage to Jeffery Hugh Frensley; Kortney Frensley, Jeff and Kristi's daughter, an 9th-grader; and little Ethan Frensley, age 4. Kayla and Kortney went to Trigg County High.
The Roaring Springs, KY Volunteer Fire Dept. responded to the fire when it was reported around 5 p.m. CT on Wednesday. They found much more than the everyday tragedy of a house fire. They found 3 dead bodies. Kristy Frensley was the only living person on the scene. She was gravely injured.
Police believe the three bodies found at the scene -- most likely Kayla, Kortney, and Ethan -- were murdered.
Whatever happened at 169 Military Road may have happened between 4 and 5 p.m. Neighbors told local media that their kids got off the bus with the Frensley kids. By the time law enforcement began processing the scene, it was clear to witnesses that something dramatic had happened. One witness even told the Kentucky New Era of seeing a body in the rear of the burning home. The witness, a Fort Campbell soldier named Jason White, said, "I've seen enough caskets... and then to come home and see this..."
Another neighbor told of the intensity of the flames at the Frensley home. Richard Coleman described seeing thick black clouds of smoke and said that by the time he and his wife arrived, "the house was fully engulfed." Coleman continued, "There was nothing they could have done at the time to save the structure."
Coleman also heard a woman -- possibly Kristy Frensley -- calling for help.
Kristy Frensley's middle child, Kortney, had a MySpace at one point: Kortney_Frensley. It was precisely what you might expect from a middle-schooler in tiny Roaring Springs, KY. From Kortney's "About me":
God always comes first for me!!!Hey my name is Kortney if you don't know me!! I'm in the 8th grade WHOOT WHOOT!!! I love to make people laugh!!! I'm a little crazy once you get to know me!!! I love to be different cause who wants to be like everybody else, it kinda gets boring after awhile!! I like to yell random things && I'm very loud!! But I'm not annoying lol!! WE IN THE BED LIKE EWW EWW EWW(inside joke)lol Liz!! NO BUTTON WHOOOT WHOOT I love you KIERSTYN!!I like to yell old songs so everybody will look at me && give me wierd faces lol!! I have msn so add me!! Kortney_and_austin@hotmail.com!! I currently am single and pretty much hating it so any of you boys that think you can handle me can give me a call!
Kortney told a bit more about herself in her MySpace "General" interests, writing, "I like to just be myself and I like to go muddin &;&; I like to ride dirtbikes &;&; skateboard which I really can't do but I'm into learning new things!!!&;&; basically do what ever any other teenager would do!!"
Kortney also wrote that her hero was "My sister Kayla!!! She is the best sister a girl can ever have!! I miss && love you soooo much!!"
The photos in Kortney's MySpace album were testament to how important her family was to her. Knowing how the siblings may have died, seeing Kortney's pictures of her brother, sister, and mother was arresting. Inevitably, the questions came, all of them summed up simply with the biggest question asked by anyone when crimes like this hit the news -- why?
Autopsies on the children as well an examination by forensic anthropologist Emily Craig may bring some answers, soon. Kristy Frensley, who is in serious condition at a medical facility in Cadiz, may be able to answer some questions as well. She was "recently divorced" from Jeffery Frensley, according to one report, and comments on the Kentucky New Era article already point towards some local suspicion towards him. And it's hard to avoid the fact most of the time, cases like this are domestic in nature.
Police have made no reference to a person of interest in this case, and the investigation is ongoing.

Posted 10/17/2008 at 01:05:04 AMi knew kortney from school and this is the most terrible thing to happen. she had a perfect life, she was always happy and was very fun to be around. i can only hope that whoever did this may burn in hell and i hope they catch him because her mom is still alive and fighting in the hospitol for her life and may be able put a discription to this murderer.
Posted 10/17/2008 at 01:18:59 AMI'm from Nashville, Steve Lamb. I know exactly what you're saying.
Posted 10/17/2008 at 01:24:26 AMThe father of Kayla was notified in California, and it has been confirmed that it was the three children murdered. Jeffery Frensley is on the scene with the police and invesigators, and has requested military involvement in the case. I doubt he would be a major suspect since he is there on the scene. Kristy is in a Hopkinsville hospital, not the Cadiz hospital. Local reports say all four had their throats slit. The local radio reports the mother was behind the house in the pool. Local station is wkdzradio.com. What a terrible crime, pray for peace to the family and community, and that justice will be served.
Posted 10/17/2008 at 07:20:48 AMGod love you Kristy - I'm praying for you and hope you'll hold on to live again. God loves you and I do too. I'm so sorry that this happened and I'm prayin for the person(s) responsible - much as we don't understand, God loves them too. What a tradegy - God Bless.
Posted 10/17/2008 at 07:59:23 AMThis is so sad. A few weeks ago, there was a house fire near me. A mother, her two teen sons, and one of the son's girlfriend died. After autopsy, it was determined that the mother and two sons were shot, the gf was beaten to death, and the house set on fire. Still no suspects.
My prayers to this family.
Posted 10/17/2008 at 10:35:16 AMI hope the ex-husband is not the one who did this (does that make sense? randomness is less scary than thinking a loved one, or former loved one, is capable of such) but just because he is requesting military involvement and is on scene would not rule him out as one of the primary persons of interest. Plenty of killers stay on scene or return to the scene to "help" investigators. Anyone sick enough to slit childrens' throats is sociopathic enough to think he can outwit the police and hide in plain sight.
While I pray the mom survives, I cannot imagine the hell on earth that would be her new life.
Posted 10/17/2008 at 02:05:02 PMI had Kayla in class and went to B-Day parties with kortney. They were both really nice and fun to be around. They were always happy and good to be around. Kristy was a very nice women too. I got my hair done were she worked and she always had a friendly sense of humor about her. I hope the police find the person that did this before one of my friends do. I hope whoever it was burns in hell! I loved them all to death

Posted 10/17/2008 at 03:55:16 PMShit, this case just rips the heart right outta me. Such a senseless waste. So incredibly evil. There is no punishment harsh enough for the monster that commited this crime.
Posted 10/17/2008 at 04:10:19 PMwhoever you are that kill them, you'll be caught sooner or later as you see Kristi Frensley is alive. She'll know what you'll like and u'll be arrested

Posted 10/17/2008 at 06:57:01 PMI knew Kayla for a short time, in her very short life.
Posted 10/17/2008 at 07:55:16 PMWe live in the florida panhandle, and Kayla loved to ride horses with us in Blackwater State Park. I think that i speak for everyone when i say that this is a tragedy that cannot be overlooked! Kayla lived with her grandparents for a while, but she wanted so bad to be with her mother. Now less than a few months later, this is where she is. Life is completely unfair, and this promising young lady that loved music, Jesus, and family had to suffer because of the wrong doing of one. Thank god that i do have pics of all of us down here ridding in blackwater and enjoying life..She will be missed. Sincerly, The Capps Family
I am speechless, absolutly heart breaking. My thoughts and prayers are with this mother, children and family. What is wrong with this world today? These children were robbed of their lives, the mother robbed of watching them make something of themselves, why? Because a careless person(s) took that from them.Your a sick, sick, sick individual.May God have mercy on your soul.

Posted 10/18/2008 at 12:47:38 PMAccording to the KNE newspaper, they took two men from the house on Cox Mill Road this morning, but we haven't heard anything mentioned about the 2nd man, and his status. They announced the arrest of one man for this crime, however the State Police continue to warn that you should always use caution and lock your doors, be aware of your surroundings. This would leave one to believe there is still another suspect at large. I have read one comment that the children walked in on their mother being raped, and then on this page, another giving speculation that she and someone (Possibly Kevin?) may have been in some type of relationship. However Kevin was charged in addition to the murders with one charge of rape, and it was reported that Kristi and Kayla both had their hands bound behind their back. The father of youngest had just been in court to reverse the shared custory agreement due to alleged drug use, however tests proved she was not using. Then last week she was arrested for intoxication at the local beauty pagent. Kristi is going to have so much to recover from that I hope and pray she was not involved or friends with this awful man who did this to her and the children. So many lives are permanently scarred by his actions.
Posted 10/18/2008 at 09:30:06 PMhm. wow. guess cadiz isnt the nice little country town i grew up in anymore. this shit doesnt even happen in louisville.
Posted 10/19/2008 at 09:49:52 AMi knew the family, i knew the three kids they were very good kids.
Posted 10/19/2008 at 10:50:38 AMWow. I mean when I heard about this my mouth just hit the floor. I grew up in Cadiz, and although I don't know the family, my heart just hurts for them. I cannot imagine what the relatives and fathers must be going through. I especially hurt for this poor mother. Regardless of what her actions were leading up to this point no one deserves anything like this, and although I pray for her recovery, I can't imagine what kind of life there is left after a tragedy like this. I found on the wkdz site that there is a Frensley Family Fund set up at the Integra Bank. And Just Your Style is also taking any no-monetary donations since she has literally lost everything in the fire. I encourage everyone, to please donate $1, $5, household items anything you can. Anything WILL help! There is a phone number on the WKDZ site also if you have questions regarding donations. Lets all pull together friends, neighbors, strangers, God Bless.

Posted 10/19/2008 at 03:35:46 PMA tragedy of epic proportions. My heart goes out to this family.
Posted 10/19/2008 at 03:58:13 PMTo the perpetrator Kevin Dunlap, may you spend the rest of your life in a cell with several big, bad inmates who will teach you the lesson you deserve...repeatedly. I've heard that inmates don't take kindly to child killers. Maybe there will be justice afterall. I won't shed a tear for this monster.
The local radio station has announced that Dunlap lived close to Kristy a few years ago. Here is the report from WKDZ News Edge:
Posted 10/20/2008 at 07:25:46 PM"THE NEWS EDGE HAS LEARNED THAT 35-YEAR OLD KEVIN DUNLAP OF HOPKINSVILLE, CHARGED IN THE ROARING SPRING TRIPLE HOMICIDE, LIVED NEAR KRISTY FRENSLEY ABOUT FOUR YEARS AGO.
ACCORDING TO COURT RECORDS AND A PREVIOUS CITATION, IN 2004, DUNLAP RESIDED AT 11 COMPTON ROAD, APPROXIMATELY SIX HOUSES DOWN FROM 169 MILITARY ROAD....."

At that time he was a pretty good neighbor, what made him do this we might never Know. My children rode the bus with the girls, they were super sweet kids. This is just not right. God Bless the Family on there upcoming Situation in November, when this goes to Trial..
Posted 08/31/2009 at 09:52:16 PMGOD saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around you and whispered come to me, with tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away, and though we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. a golden heart stopped beating, hands were put to rest. GOD broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best.
