99-year-old man beaten over parking spot
**UPDATE**
Taylor Meyer's body was found about 90 minutes ago. Few details are available at this time.
Original Post
On Friday, October 17, Plainville teen Taylor Meyer went to a house party in Norfolk, Massachusetts. By 4:30 the following Saturday her mother knew something must be wrong. Seventeen-year-old Taylor still hadn't returned home. Taylor's mom reported her 5'8", blond, blue-eyed daughter missing to the Norfolk police.
By Sunday a full-blown search involving police, fire and rescue services was underway in Norfolk. Teams of searchers picked through the area surrounding the Norfolk Airport, looking for some sign of the high school senior.
Taylor was last seen at the airport. She allegedly attended an underaged drinking party. Somehow her friends lost track of her. The last time anyone has reported seeing her was around 10 p.m. Friday.
But someone said they received a call from Taylor that night. Taylor's friend said that Taylor kept repeating the word "plane."
Early reports in missing persons cases are always erroneous to some degree, and always confusing. Everything about this one could change by tomorrow morning. A discussion of this disappearance is taking place at Websleuths.com. I've included some info in a post there that was removed from this entry because it may ultimately be irrelevant.
Taylor Meyer is 5'8", weighs 150. According to MissingKids.com, she was last seen wearing "jeans, a gray hooded sweatshirt with A and F on the front and brown shoes."
A.M. UPDATE, 10/20/08
A dive team from the Quincy (MA) police department has come in to assist in the search for Taylor Meyer.
I called the Norfolk police this morning -- they indicated the dive team was likely assisting because the search area is "marshy." I was told that there are a "lot of wet spots out there."
The Norfolk PD also confirmed the report that a friend of Taylor's said the missing teen called someone the night she vanished, repeating the word "plane" over and over.
An article used as a reference for this post described the airport close to the area from which Taylor vanished as "disused." The Norfolk PD indicated that the airport in question has "been closed down for probably 10 years or so."

I'm sorry but this is totally irrelevant to anything involving Taylor's disappearance. Some of the people who wrote those things about her are now some of her good friends. You really have no business posting this. I'm sure her family is having a hard enough time right now without reading about the garbage on an immature, middle school, un-updated website. Imagine if this was your sister, your daughter, your cousin. Would you want to read this sort of junk about her when you go to check the news reports? I suspect not. So next time you decide to write a news story and start jumping to conclusions regarding her friends, think about how a victims loved ones would feel reading it.
Posted 10/19/2008 at 07:33:52 PMFeeling a little guilty about talking smack in the past, Rach? The paragraph you're talking about has been removed, anyway. Try hitting refresh before popping off next time.
Posted 10/19/2008 at 07:36:58 PMNo. I'm not feeling guilty for anything. Just try and be a little bit respectful.
Posted 10/19/2008 at 07:39:46 PMI did remove it, because I agreed that it doesn't really fit, on reflection. I even doubted myself as I put it in the post, and I should always trust that sort of instinct. But I guarantee you this, so you better get ready -- it will come up again, and will be discussed ad nauseam, on other blogs and on message boards. And it will be discussed by people who aren't remotely prepared to examine their work or what they post and second-guess themselves. So good luck trying to get a lot more people to "be respectful." You'll find that very few are, and they don't care what you think about it.
Hopefully this young lady is found soon and it's all moot. I can tell you this, too -- if the cops smell foul play and they do any research on the Web, they'll ask about that online community as well. And they won't necessarily care that it was 4 years ago. That's reality -- if someone goes missing under weird, mysterious circumstances, everything is fair play, including the history of that person's associations.
Posted 10/19/2008 at 07:45:56 PMWhy would something like that be put up when such a tragedy has occured. What site is this anyhow, and why are you trying to upset people who most likely care about her the most.
Posted 10/19/2008 at 08:49:24 PMNo use beating a dead horse. That portion of the post is apparently gone. I never saw it as it was gone before I made it over here but Steve is right, it's not too difficult to find information of any nature on the Internet and while I also chose not to put it in my post it's almost guaranteed that someone else will.
Posted 10/19/2008 at 09:15:19 PMI'm not really familiar with the area but after reading all of this, my thought is: They were partying at an old unused airport... old planes probably a plenty with pieces strewn throughout the woods surrounding it. If Taylor wandered off and maybe found said planes and started hanging out inside and fell and hurt herself, wouldn't it make sense to call her friend and say plane. They were drinking after all and maybe in a buzz she may have been trying to alert her friends to her whereabouts. I'm sure the police have already thought of that but I just thought it was a decent theory. And if they hadn't thought of it I hope they read this and research it. I work with her mother who is a sweet woman who does not deserve to suffer through this tragedy. Call it blind hope, but she will be found.
Posted 10/20/2008 at 09:56:19 AMKryptic, what you wrote makes a lot of sense to me. Let's hope it's something like that. It'd be nice to have this story end at least half as well as the Cole Puffinburger abduction.
Posted 10/20/2008 at 09:59:18 AMA similar incident happened around my area. Kid disappeared after a party, was missing for 3/4 days, everyone put up fliers and searched for him. Turns out he was so drunk he wandered away from his friends and someone picked him up and took him to detox, where he had been for three days. Not saying the same thing will occur in this situation, but when alcohol is involved, the truth is stranger than fiction.
On an unrelated note, my captcha to post this comment is "homicide".
Posted 10/20/2008 at 10:07:26 AMYeah, about that captcha -- it's automatic for all comments here. I'd like to change it, but that's one of the parts of this blog's back-end that I don't think Village Voice Media will let me tinker with. I can add stuff to the sidebar and format some things, but I don't have the control I did with a blog I ran completely on my own.
Posted 10/20/2008 at 10:11:29 AMI'll go all Sylvia Browne on your asses first thing this morning and say that "drunken wander off" scenario was what I first saw in my mind when I read this. Let's hope it's something like that.
As for the captcha, I will confess my complete ignorance about what that little dealie is all about - not just "homicide", but any "captcha". What is it about those little words in the box that makes a post printable? I mean what makes it required to just type some magic word in a box to post a comment? I think I would understand it better if it was one among a choice...like "comment" or "question" - some sort of catagory. Seems like it might as well just be abracadabra or presto or something.
Posted 10/20/2008 at 11:31:43 AMSteve - the Googlemap you linked is not the same airport. Search for "Airport Rd MA 02056" and you'll see the abandoned Norfolk airport.
One thing that seems strange (among many) - who saw her at the airport around 10:30 that night?
Posted 10/20/2008 at 11:40:15 AMThanks, John. I fixed the Map link. Just refresh the page a few times if it doesn't look like it. This blog has something called "caching" in effect -- helps the servers handle traffic loads, but makes changes and comments slow, sometimes.
The captcha is just in place to make sure there's a person posting a comment and not a spambot.
Posted 10/20/2008 at 11:46:11 AMCouple of quick comments:
-The google map link is pointing to Norwood Airport, which is two towns west of Norfolk.
-Not that it matters, but Norfolk is home to a medium security prison, which pretty much backs up to a maximum security prison in Walpole. Both are roughly a mile and a half northwest of Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots. (They're playing in Foxborough tonight)

Posted 10/20/2008 at 11:47:21 AM-I'm pretty sure there aren't any "old planes a plenty with pieces strewn throughout the woods" - it was a very small airport, not the type of place that even would have had hangars...
Thanks Freddy. I was going to make a Wonder Years joke, but then I decided that could be your real name and decided I wouldn't.
I've already fixed the map based on another comment. I appreciate the clarification about the airport. Sounds like it'd just be an overgrown, desolate place at this point. I don't even see any structures on Google Maps Satellite View, but I could be looking in the wrong area or they could be totally covered.
Posted 10/20/2008 at 11:51:08 AMThere are still at least four buildings there - at least three (including a hangar) at the southern end of the tarmac area (there is an oval in the grass nearby) and one at the northern end of the tarmac.
Posted 10/20/2008 at 11:59:17 AMIf you check out this site you can see what the buildings looked like as late as 2006: http://www.airfields-freeman.com/MA/Airfields_MA_C.htm#norfolk
Posted 10/20/2008 at 12:02:09 PMThere is a report that they have found her body, not releasing cause of death. I was hoping for a happy ending, very sad.
Posted 10/20/2008 at 12:04:25 PMShe's been found...

I just read on the news that a body has been found. Sad. My thought are with her family and friends.
Posted 10/20/2008 at 12:08:34 PMMaybe someone abducted her and threw her in a airplane.. Was this a small airplane airport? Maybe the phone message was foggy because of phone service in the air. Any old broken down airplanes nearby or in hangers??

Posted 10/20/2008 at 12:21:30 PMI've added an update at the top of this post and a short entry about her being found:

Posted 10/20/2008 at 12:22:02 PMI hate to sound indifferent, but what else is new? Would you cover this story if she happened not to be blond, white, and photogenic? This isn't worth the time it took to comment, but I wanted to make sure my opinion was known
