Man blames girlfriend's threesome for murder
Happy as always to rope the constant reader into my own clown-centric fears, I bring you this tale of creepiness from the South Side of Chicago.
Apparently a man has been working in and around South Mackninaw and South Normal streets to try and lure children to his vehicle. The man typically drives either a white 4-door van with broken windows in the rear or a brown pickup.
The creep does his thing while wearing full clown makeup, a wig, and carrying balloons. He goes up to kids to try and get them to accompany him, but kids so far have been wise to him -- they've already called 911 on the guy at least once. As far as police can tell, he tried to run his game on October 7, just before 6 in the evening, and on October 10, just before 9 in the morning.
Community alerts place Pennywise -- er, the alleged wannabe abductor on the ground in the Garfield Park community, near Beidler Elementary School and not all that far from the Polaris Charter Academy.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, anyone with relevant information can call 312-747-8272.
If he were still around, I'm sure this creepy clown's fellow (former) Chicago-area resident John Gacy would be offended at this pervy plagiarist trying to co-opt his vibe.

Pennywise! Ha - that was the only book that truly scared the crap out of me. I loved it.
Posted 10/15/2008 at 02:06:34 PMI was surprised to learn a number of years ago just how many adults were afraid of clowns. I kept running in to people who (and I can't remember how we got on the subject) said they were afraid of clowns. I told my wife about it and she said she was afraid of clowns. After I said "WTF" I went back and asked a few of these folks, and most of them blame the movie "It", so apparently Pennywise had more bite than bark; at least to children. Interesting.
Posted 10/15/2008 at 02:52:41 PMWhile clowns always made me uncomfortable (same with Mall Santa's) as a kid, it wasn't till I read "It" that I was done with mere discomfort and into full blown dislike. CREEPY!!!
Posted 10/15/2008 at 03:59:57 PMI'm not scared of clowns, but when we were young my cousins and I used to make up stories about Pennywise to scare each other. Still one of my favorite books.
Posted 10/15/2008 at 04:03:55 PMWhy is it always a white van?
Posted 10/15/2008 at 08:12:48 PMI am not afraid of clows but I do not like them! They creep me out--an adulat hiding behind lots of makeup with over sized clothing and shoes (with plenty of space to hide stuff) They just creep me out! Of course, I hate balloons too because they make a kid really happ at first and then they either fly away, pop or deflate and then the kid is sad all over again--what is the point? haha

Posted 10/15/2008 at 08:54:37 PMOmg, I hope my sis doesn't read about this. She's been terrified of clowns her entire life.
