Police refused to take missing person reports in serial killer case

It's a given that we shouldn't expect neutral reporting from anyone associated with the Nancy Grace show where Casey Anthony is concerned, but I'd imagine that show is also pretty tied in to good sources working the case. That's why the CNN.com article written by Grace producer Natisha Lance (linked at the end of this post) is so interesting. Particularly this passage, describing today's arrest of the alleged killer mom:
Anthony was arrested during a traffic stop after the indictment and taken to jail, an Orange County Sheriff's Department spokesman said.
Undercover officers followed Anthony as she traveled in her mother's SUV. The officers saw the SUV stop under a highway overpass, at which point Anthony got into another vehicle and drove off. Officers made the traffic stop after she entered the second vehicle, the spokesman said.

Reading that I couldn't help but think of Scott Peterson's arrest in La Jolla, CA in April, 2003. Peterson said he was meeting some people at the Torrey Pines golf course, but police felt pretty sure Peterson was making a run for the border. The large amount of cash he had at the time together with multiple credit cards and camping equipment didn't make Peterson all that believable, either (the countdown to the inevitable Peterson troll who posts defenses of Scott on ALL blog entries even halfway referencing the case has just begun).
The passage quoted above was buried in the middle of the story, but it stood out in neon, to me. I'll be very interested to learn what reasons Casey might have had for making that odd stop and vehicle switch. I'm sure her mother, Cindy Anthony, will have some sort utterly implausible explanation ready for the news cameras very soon.
UPDATE
A friend e-mailed shortly after this post was up to tell me that Casey's vehicle switch was to the bail bondsman's gray SUV. My friend wrote that "There was communication between Cindy and [bail bondsman] Mike MacDonald about Myfox orlando 'chasing' or following them from Jose [Baez's] office." My tipster added, "Mr. MacDonald also may have been concerned about her whereabouts at that point as well."

Yeah, I bet her bails bondsman WOULD be concerned.
Posted 10/14/2008 at 10:10:34 PMI noticed the same thing in one of the Orlando Sentinel's updates I believe and was wondering if maybe she was either trying to make a run or maybe kill herself. I just don't see that happening though because if she is really a sociopath she may still think she can get off, and it's entirely possible that she will at least on appeal.

I had a passing thought that Cindy and Casey might try a Thelma and Louise.
Posted 10/14/2008 at 10:48:30 PMI thought Cindy was probably trying to get her to the border, because she made a point of explaining why she was going with Casey.
Why do so many people think Casey would commit suicide? Sociopaths don't do that. They don't feel guilt, remorse, or shame. She'd make a run for the border, sure, but there's no way she'd hurt herself. Getting hurt is what other people are for.

I would guess she still doesn't think she did anything all that bad. if she ever does tell the truth, she will have a reason(justification) for whatever she did. After all the grief and pain she has caused everyone, she is like a stone silent. Unbelievable.

I understand in the heat of the moment you choose to say or do something out of the ordinary..but enough is enough. That child needs to found..I love how her lawyer says when this is all said and done people will understand...well MAKE us understand NOW! I personally feel that she was trying to run..She's already lost everything.

I am completely impressed that Casey was able to be interrogated by veteran detectives and lied to them. I thought detectives could get people to confess. She's 22 and never been arrested before but she spent hours being interrogated. She has embarassed the police!

Maybe when she realize she going to jail with a body or no body found she will probally be eager to tell you were her daughters body is,you know for a better sentece for her..

Posted 12/13/2008 at 11:28:54 AMi first thought that the parent did not have anything to do with the murder of their grandchild but i beleive after it was over will they help cover up for their daughter.they trying to protect their child casey told them where the body and put in the feildld after the fact that why george was trying to admit suidice its probably hard to admit you rasise a child to be so selfishi know they are hurting but soon as they tell the true they can start healing but with all this on their mind they will never be able to heal my prayers go out to them to do the right thing for caylee and a peace of mind and let the lord handle the rest the truth is got to come out where they can begin to forgive and heal for casey may the lord bless her stop lying and tell the truth where your family can heal.
