If you review the comments left on his myspace you'll see that even his mom is denouncing him and declaring that he deserves the death penalty for this. Two families devastated by this. Wonder what the dad thinks of all this?

I survived a murder attempt. Basically what one feels after the initial attack is a sharp realization that you're in big trouble. Adrenaline kicks in right away. There is no pain. The primary feeling is a strong urge to get as far away from the place you're currently at (she found a way to free herself from the gag, untied herself, staggered down the mountain) - it's shock. The main concern is not wanting loved ones to hear the news- and we especially dwell at the odd hour that they will get the news. A strong feeling of compassion for parents and siblings comes over you. The world gets dark and sounds begin to close in - similar to a fainting feeling. Bravery and courage to accept what has just happen floods your world. Then ...it's basically over.

I don't think she felt physical pain. Our bodies can prevent that. She probably just felt an unexplainable amount of paranoia for her situation and an unexplainable concern for her family getting the news.

The kind of unexplainable concern that most of us feel after hearing about things like this. Numb.

I graduated from Decatur MI the same year this sick bastard did.. Not everyone from there is bad, I am an active duty member of the Air Force stationed in Cheyenne WY, who is also in college for a double major, also married. I have made a good life for myself and most due because of where I grew up and graduated high school.

Robert Marko has always been a disturbed person. He was picked on ALOT during high school. I would have never let myself be left alone with this dude. What this guy did is terrible. What caused it? Who knows. War is a tough and a terrible business. Not everyone who survives it survives it whole. My heart goes out to this family and their child. Obviously she was hurting too to respond to his posts.

And to him and his family, pray for them and all others who have experienced war and such terrible trauma in their life. May we a society see the people around us who are hurting before they hurt others or are hurt by others.

I don't think you read very closely. Her own family described her in those terms. The only learning disability mentioned in particular was ADHD. I wrote this post and write and edit this blog and I have severe ADHD. In addition to that, my sister and my youngest son are severely autistic. I would never, ever intentionally minimize someone's capabilities or their intelligence based on any alleged learning disabilities.

Judi was my cousin, and I have words to say. Not everything I want to say will I write. I feel unless you lived thru this there's not much you can truly say. People with ADHD are very often above average intelligence. It is a learning disability due to the extreme difficulty of keeping the mind on one subject/ I know several very intelligent people now earning 150K + that have ADHD and gave into just doing 20 things at one time. It's all how you deal with it.

From what Ive read on other sites and his posts (Markos), It seems he DID beleive these dragons were real. In one post he mentions a timeline of 8 years, but probably longer than that. I am a good friend of the lawrence family, and according to her myspace messages, her and Robert Marko became friends in February 2008, they spoke often and even hung out a few times before her death.. It has been known that Judi had very deep feelings for him... She didn't trust a stranger, she trusted someone who she thought was a nice guy and friend...

Iraq may be a little to blame for his twisted thoughts, but we have been told by Marko's friends and family (his own mother) that he never saw combat, nor did he leave the base often during his deployment.. His mother claimed that she had known her son was sick for a very long time... War isn't always to blame for peoples sick minds, and everyone should stop blaming it on that... Amber Ibbotson - Sweetheart, you said it all when you said that you went to school with him. He is obviously an idiot and you sure don't seem much smarter. Your spelling is horrible!!! They have a great feature called SPELL CHECK, use it!!! Just to tell everyone I'm not friends with Robert Marko and my sister didn't date Robert Marko he went to prom with her thank you very much. And who care if my sister have a baby.

As terrible as this is, I cannot help but feel a little sad for him at the same time. His obsession with dinosaurs was always puzzling. I can remember him being crazy about them since kindergarten, bringing his wrists up to just under his neck while walking with a bob. "I'm a raptor."

In first grade we got our first science books ever and he was the only one really interested. He raised his hand and ask if we were going to learn about dinosaurs.

High school we would always ask him about his "dreams" that we thought were just some BS story. We would cynically push him to keep telling us more and he really thought we were interested. It was just funny listening to a teenager talk about the red raptors, black raptors, mars and gunships. It wasn't right.

The last time I saw him was in a grocery store in February 07 or 08. He told me he was going to Iraq. From the excitement in his voice and smile on his face I knew something wasn't right. I was a little bothered. He just seemed happy to be going.

He was always and I'm sure he still is a nice kid. He just lacks any judgment whatsoever. It is so sad that girls life was stolen and Robert decided to give his up at the same time. He will be in jail for the rest of his life and I'm sure he knows that he deserves it.

He knew exactly what he was doing, even remembered WHERE the body was and an insanity plea is evident he is cognitively AWARE of the consequences of his actions. Most insane persons don't even remember their own damned names.
