Another hatecrime that won't be a hatecrime I bet.
Posted 11/27/2008 at 02:08:21 AMWow that was unexpected but not unwelcome news.
Posted 11/27/2008 at 07:40:51 AMHappy Thanksgiving Anne
Posted 11/27/2008 at 08:10:20 AMI was just thinking about this case last night. It's great to know that progress has been made! I wonder how they figured out it was this guy?
Posted 11/27/2008 at 09:38:31 AMGood. Just checked the AJC this morning and found this news... and how about that arrest in Brianna Denison's murder! I was so very glad to hear that it's HIM - DNA linked. Eerily similar to Edward Hall in Kansas...
May justice never sleep!
Posted 11/27/2008 at 09:52:53 AMI am also curious to see how they (LE) knew it was Vance. I am guessing it will be the video from the gas station as well as DNA. The video from the gas station was probably much better than the public realized. LE probably got tag / car info. from the video and worked the rest of the case in a hard nosed manner. Good Job LRPD!
Posted 11/27/2008 at 11:07:26 AMBurn baby burn. Hell aint hot enough for this brother.
Posted 11/27/2008 at 09:43:08 PMNo doubt, Anne Pressly died a slow agonizing death at the hands of this human waste. Never a supporter for the death
penalty until now. If the state doesn't kill him, somebody
else probably will. I still can't believe what he did to her. Its simply not human to inflict torture on another
person like this guy did.
Just looking at his picture filled me with rage. I can't make up my mind on whether I'd rather see him die or be put away forever. Just wish prison life was a lot harder on prisoners than it is right now. What a waste of space. Guarantee you this dumb POS hasn't done anything with his life. But yet he took a life that has so much promise.
Posted 11/28/2008 at 01:35:21 AMI dont mind the people that are concerned about a life being take BUT the underlying racism in some of the comments are crazy. Also in case you have been to prison do not say that it is not hard. There are good people that are locked up that just made a mistake and some messed up people that are walking the streets that get to remain out here. God bless the young lady's soul and help her family cope. To bad our country's justice systems motto isnt guilty until proven innocent
NOTE FROM STEVE: I've only approved the mildest ones. Be glad you aren't seeing the racist comments that get deleted. They're straight out of 1950s Alabama or Mississippi.
Posted 11/28/2008 at 01:42:50 PMIt's amazing how the racist bulletheads just come crawling out of the woodwork. Yes, this guy is the worst of humanity, but you just see it as a means to spew your garbage. You cheapen this woman's death with your bigotry. Please, stick to your paranoid websites where the other racists agree with your rants.
Posted 11/28/2008 at 02:25:23 PMSteve,
I can only imagine the racist comments you've deleted. Somehow I just knew they would come.
Hope your Thanksgiving was a good one!
Posted 11/28/2008 at 11:26:08 PMDoes anyone know if she was sexually assaulted in this case? I'm wondering if he left DNA behind from something like that.
Posted 11/28/2008 at 11:28:12 PMWhy has the fact that she was brutally raped not been publicized widely? There were two monsters who did this to her. It seems like an unforgivable political coverup to me!
Posted 11/29/2008 at 02:56:40 AMThe Los Angeles Times actually publicly admitted on their internet website that they routinely hide the race of crime suspects and perpetrators so as not to “unfairly stigmatize certain ethnic groups.” This has become a standard practice among most mainstream news sources for some time. So in others words, they feel it is better to endanger the public that report accurate information about crime. All in the name of defending diversity.
NOTE FROM STEVE: Skin color is irrelevant past describing a known suspect who may still be at large. Otherwise it's usually just like tacking "internet" onto the word "website" (hint -- if it is a website, it is therefore by definition on the damned internet) -- useless information. I am filtering comments from overtly racist posters who want to believe that only people who looke like Curtis Vance commit crimes like this. They do not. Some of the most vicious crimes I've ever written about, by the way, were committed by killers who happened to be white.
Posted 11/29/2008 at 11:42:54 AMMichelle: Out of respect for those that love her that are suffering greatly right now, some of the details didn't need to be released.
The attack was described as gruesome, brutal and inhumane. We can all put the clues together without the event being described in its entirety. We can all know that this person needed to be off of the streets ASAP without having to know about every intimate detail
If something like this happened to someone you loved dearly, your perspective regarding the information being released to the public would change significantly.
There was no "political" coverup- that is so ridiculous. The info that was withheld was done so to protect those that were harmed the most given the circumstances.
Posted 11/29/2008 at 04:58:56 PMI have followed this story since day one and cannot tell you the hate i have for this sorry SOB to take a life so full of promise, had everything going for her and to have it all taken away by the hands of this monster as someone stated earlier if he does not die in prison someone on the outside will get him and i hope when that day comes he suffers just as much as poor Anne did. Rest In Peace Anne
Posted 11/29/2008 at 07:02:55 PMOne report on Fox said that Anne had bitten the attacker and that's where the DNA came from. Maybe that's what enraged him into such a violent attack? It is frightening to look at the face of somebody capable of such a crime.
Posted 11/29/2008 at 08:03:21 PMMichelle~
Posted 11/29/2008 at 10:57:40 PMWhy do you say there were "two monsters who did this to her"? Has it been confirmed there were 2 attackers?
Lori-
It has only been confirmed that there are a number of posters here with some wacky agendas. I haven't seen a single trustworthy report of two attackers, so that may have just come from, you know, Imaginationland. It's down the road from Paranoid Bigot Lane and Non-Existent Media Conspiracy Against White People Way. Fun places!
Posted 11/30/2008 at 01:59:11 AMThe most horrific serial killers known were white men who attacked white women. Did theose men just hate women? Or were their attacks also racially motivated because their victims were all white?
It is incredible to me that people are still so idiotic as to attribute behaviour to race. If Vance guilty, he is clearly an evil man. Just like Ted Bundy.
Posted 11/30/2008 at 10:16:20 AMi honestly think that curtis vance knew and had a previous relationship with anne pressley....he got angry and killed her and messed her up out of personal rage....
Posted 11/30/2008 at 03:12:01 PMMichael: It irks me, too, that the media will deliberately refrain from giving a full description of a violent fugitive. It would help to narrow down who I should (or shouldn't) be on the look out for, y'know?
Posted 11/30/2008 at 05:21:28 PMPam Powers: I seriously doubt there was a "relationship" between the two, unless it was merely that of local newscaster & viewer, unless you're talking about him having worked in the neighborhood as a handy man (like the fashion reporter who was raped & murdered by her garbage man in Cape Cod). Vance appears to be the typical serial rapist, who escalated into murder, much like Bundy & Alber DeSalvo. I used to have a good friend in Little Rock whose 2nd wife was sexually assaulted at her place of business by one such serial rapist, who later escalated to carjacking/rape. He was finally caught when he raped/carjacked a woman whose vehicle was too sophisicated for his driving abilities (a Ferrarri) and he was caught trying hopscotch down the interstate. His previous interaction with his victims extended to casing out their homes and/or places of work or where they parked their cars. That's the scary thing about these types of crimes. (This was in the mid-1980s.) And, frankly, all rapes are hate crimes. Apparently crimes against women don't seem to qualify for that label, for some reason.
duct tape, baseball bat and some nails. that's all i would spend on this guy to make him pay for what he did to her.
