I bet we'll hear a hell of a lot more about this story in the days to come. I immediately thought of Shawn Hornbeck. If you know that name, you'll see what I mean.
From there, things just got weird.
The 17-year-old said he'd been kidnapped and held hostage for a year. According to police in Tracy he looked it -- they told local media that the kid "was emaciated, battered and bruised."
The teen was taken to a local hospital.
Police have since arrested a man and woman in association with this bizarre case. They removed two children from the couples' house on Tennis Lane in Tracy and took them into protective custody.
The unnamed 17-year-old told police he'd been held in that house, possibly since he ran away from a Sacramento group home a year ago.
Like I said -- expect to hear more about this one soon. [CBS13.com]

It's great that you're on top of this story! I was going to send the info to you about it, but I see you already have it covered :) Awesome.
Neighbor's are saying that they saw him unrestrained and doing things with the family and outside on his own. Weird.
Posted 12/02/2008 at 01:04:15 AMVery bizarre...
This article seems to have the most detail, including about how the boy was allegedly treated.

Posted 12/02/2008 at 11:40:09 AMFrom the article MM posted, it seems like neighbors knew or heard about some of the stuff they were doing to this kid. Makes me wonder why someone never alerted the authorities. Maybe they did and we haven't heard about it yet, but the neighbors interviewed said the boy was treated badly but never mentioned they had called CPS for him.
Posted 12/02/2008 at 02:00:44 PMThey are searching for Caren Ramirez, the boy's aunt, on suspicion of being involved in the abuse somehow. If you look up her picture, she looks like a man!
