Teen strangled, slit 9-year-old's throat
Wednesday, Dec. 3 2008 @ 3:24PM
A goofy video made by murder suspect Aadil Khan. None of the other teens who appear in this video are thought to be involved in the alleged crime discussed below.
NEW HILL, NC -- Matthew Josiah Silliman was only 18, but according to the Silver Alert issued for Matthew on November 26, 2008 he may have been suffering "from dementia or some other cognitive impairment."
The 5'8" teen was last seen in Apex, NC at an address on Oakgate Court.
Matthew Silliman may never come home again. WRAL TV published an online report this afternoon indicating that 4 teens were in custody in New Hill. The teens being questioned about a body that is currently being called John Doe. The kids in custody are 17-year-olds Aadil Shahid Khan and Allegra Rose Dahlquist, Ryan Patrick Hare, age 18, and Drew Logan Shaw, 16. While police haven't said the John Doe is Matthew Silliman, Silliman's parents told WRAL that they heard from police on Wednesday morning. The cops said that they had a crime scene on their hands inside a home on Olive Branch Lane, which looks to be about 12 miles from Matthew's last location. They told the Sillimans that the scene "might be connected" to Matthew's disappearance.
Khan, Dahlquist, Hare and Shaw will likely be charged with murder sometime today.
Of the teens in custody, Aadil Khan wins first position in the cybersleuthing lotto -- his online presence was too extensive to ignore. His MySpace: AryanTemplar. Khan's YouTube account: Xaryan13. That's just two out of several.
I don't know if Khan's seeming embrace of Nazi-like words and imagery was intentional -- he clearly stated on his profile that he was an anarchist, which is, (if we are to take a 17-year-old M. Night Shyamalan wannabe halfway seriously for a moment) a pretty anti-fascist way of life. Whatever the case, in his MySpace "About me," Khan wrote:
i can start off by saying my name is Aadil Khan...translated from urdu (which is an Indo-Aryan language that is prominent in pakistan) it means Just Ruler (one who rules with justice)...which brings me to my next point...my name is misleading when it comes to what i'm really about...i believe in justice...but my own kind...i dont't believe in any one person or many persons ruling over me...seeing how all people were created equal...y would i let someone equal to me rule over me...this brings me to my next thing...i am an anarchist...i believe in absolute freedom it is usually hard to place me in a social group simply because i dont really fit in one...im against the idea of social groups or cliques or whtever...they make ppl conform and restrict themselves too much and then they cannot be all they can be...i think people should be true to themselves and not be restricted like that...ppl have insulted me, made fun of me, but i proudly say that i am something that they'll never be...and they can all go to hell because i could care less about them and their sorry ass lives... i usually get along with people, or end up hating them for all eternity (this has only really happened once...i usually tolerate ppl pretty well)...i don't get into fights for a good reason...and i dont feel i have to justify myself so nobody is gonna ever get to kno :)So the kid who now may be charged in some sort of murder plot had issues with rules. Somehow, there's not much of a surprise there.
I don't want to pick on Aadil Khan -- there are three other alleged teen murderers to go. Like Allegra Dahlquist. With her mother, Allegra ran a "professional and loving pet sitter and dog walking" service in and around Cary, Apex, and West Raleigh. This was the website for the service: HoofandPawPetSitting.com. From the "About Us" page:
About Allegra: I am high school student at Apex High. I love animals! I've been around animals my entire life. We have always had dogs and cats, birds, the occasional ferret or hamster. Currently we have 2 dogs, 4 cats and 3 horses.I imagine the site will be gone soon, so check it out while you have a chance. Dahlquist, who also went by "Legra," had another personal profile here: http://humanpets.com/809893008. Her MySpace page, screen name brain_dead_zombie, was private.
I started riding horses when I was 5. I spent seveal years riding hunters, and in the spring of 2006 switched to eventing. I love riding, especially eventing, and I work very hard to be the best rider I can. I also have an awesome trainer that makes each lesson a great learning experience. Hopefully one day I will be an Olympic rider.
For his part, Drew Shaw -- downwitdaclownz on MySpace -- considered himself "basically just a down ass juggalo, you need someone fucked up, shit stolen, bud to smoke shit to drink im your boy hit me up if your tryin to do any of that shit for real i got your back homie, even if i just fuckin met you." (Hey, Juggalos and Juggalettes -- I'm just reporting what he said on his page -- I know ICP doesn't condone murder, so don't start leaving the pissy comments, y'hear?)
Drew might have had his friends' backs, but one friend didn't necessarily have his back. On December 3, a "Cody Milligan" wrote the following on Drew Shaw's MySpace page: "god damn drew you fucking idiot why the hell are being convicted of murder."
As you might expect, Ryan Hare also had a MySpace profile, but he chose to make his private. His quote read, "I can imagine a world of love, peace, and no wars. Then I imagine myself attacking that place because they would never expect it." Ryan Hare's status said that he was "[Trying to heal] a little tired, a little stressed, a little bored, a little hurt, a little depressed, a little sore, still alot in love."
So... we know that the (technically still) missing Matthew Josiah Silliman was somehow disabled. We know that alleged killer Aadil Khan was a self-styled anarchist and wannabe filmmaker. Alleged killer Allegra Dahlquist was a professional dogwalker and equestrienne with Olympic aspirations. Drew Shaw, if his MySpace page is accurate (always a good question), was a self-described juggalo (fan of Insane Clown Posse) who liked his bud and his buds. Ryan Hare was stressed, bored, hurt, etc...
But how did they all come together? How did "John Doe" end up in that abandoned house on Olive Lane? The real story is in the answers to questions like these. There will be a certain logic to it. Many who follow crime stories in the news will find it familiar. But no one will ever truly understand. [WRAL.com]
UPDATE
McClatchy News reported this evening that all 4 of the suspects -- who have now been charged with murder -- were Facebook friends with Matthew Silliman. I double-checked, and they were indeed among Silliman's 142 friends on that social networking site.

Reads as if Allegra had a lot of good stuff going on in her life, which makes this story even harder to hear about, somehow. The loss of an Olympic-maybe-someday will be a very high additional price to pay, if in fact she is guilty of murder. What a waste, all the way around.
My sympathies to the John Doe's family, the Sillimans or whomever it turns out to be.
Posted 12/03/2008 at 06:13:12 PMAll of this is so hard to believe. In interviews with classmates on WRAL this evening, no one could believe that Allegra was involved in this crime. The empty house where the victim was found belongs to Allegra's family and she lived there until about 2 years ago (at least according to the news report). I also heard that all four have been charged with homicide/murder, but as of about 15 minutes ago, they had not released the name of the victim.
Posted 12/03/2008 at 07:05:11 PMThe exact same thing happened in another town near Raleigh recently. Same type of alert for a young man. Arrested 4 or 5 kids for murder AND the parents of one of the accused. The thugs shot the boy and buried him. The parents helped them dig up the body and move it. Real nice bunch of folks. IIRC, mom was a realtor, she had tracks all over the Internet.
Posted 12/03/2008 at 07:20:09 PMI did a search on Allegra Rose Dahlquist and found some poetry. It doesn't seem to be a very common name -- so perhaps it's the same person?

NOTE FROM STEVE: That name is so rare I'd be really surprised if it wasn't her.
Posted 12/03/2008 at 11:26:34 PMMatthew Silliman's profile photograph on Facebook is pretty strange. I've got a kid in high school and these incidents are of great concern. I know that the general consensus is that there really are not any more child abductions than there used to be; just that they are more widely publicized. But this kind of "Lord of the Flies" activity of miscreant youth; that really seems to be on the upswing. What kind of crop of narcissistic sociopaths have we produced?
Posted 12/04/2008 at 09:44:37 AMI know, as you said, that "ICP doesn't condone murder," but almost every time you report on a teenager being involved in some kind of killing, there's a Juggalo/ette connection.
I for one would be a little nervous if my own children got involved in that culture...
Posted 12/04/2008 at 10:07:01 AMICP doesn't even make music anymore. Most law enforcement types consider their followers to be a disorganized gang, especially in states like Colorado and Utah where there are way too many of them.
But hey if you want to paint your face like Gacy and act like a retard eh, to each his own.
Posted 12/04/2008 at 01:00:18 PMallegra has a poem published here:

Posted 12/04/2008 at 04:31:52 PMI have met allegra a hand ful of times and she seems to be very caring person of animals and humans, but did have a expression in her choices of hair color and dark clothing. I think she just got caught up in a bad situation and was to late to turn back. Our Kitten was born under the porch of that house.
Posted 12/04/2008 at 08:53:53 PMI knew Matt Silliman for six years, he did not have dementia, but something was wrong with him. He was a really great kid up until he turned 18, around then he started hanging around with a really rough crowd. I haven't ever met any of the convicted, but they seem to be pretty rough. With the exception of Allegra, who by all accounts was a nice person.
Posted 12/04/2008 at 10:23:37 PMyea, so, i knew only matt and aadil. aadil was in my german 2 class i needed to graduate. very cool kid friends with most everyone i knew. matt i met when i moved to apex sophomore year, does anyone remember Kito Bizieff. both friends of mind. and no one gave him shit for killing himself.
i had talked to matt and aadil few weeks back, and they couldnt be more best friends. they were always in to doing stupid shit together, so im wondering if this is any different. something accidental, and they were scared and trying to cover it up
whatever happend will surely be reveled soon.

as for the juggalo crap. yea im not affilated with any of that but can assure that yea, some of the lyrics to most of their songs are about killing and doing drugs. so that asside, you can then take it how you want. but being appart of something like that doesnt make you MAKE those bad decisions. its the life that preceeds it.
whatever happened will surely be reveled soon.
Posted 12/05/2008 at 12:36:18 AMOkay, so first off... I'd like to state that someone should probably ask about the videos first because that was a project on Pythagoras that our entire Sophomore English class did, not just Aadil.
Posted 12/05/2008 at 05:45:32 AMI'm not going to state whether or not I believe that the four are guilty or innocent. Just that, someone needs to thoroughly research a video before they say things like "wannabe filmmaker" as an aspirition. I know it's your job to stretch the truth, and your job to deliberately take things out of context so that it makes your story sound more interesting. But this is just ridiculous. And by the way, none of us are laughing at your witty comments. This is a tragedy and it's a shame that it happened to Matt.
It's true that they were all friends. Anyone could see that. Putting your little witty spin on it isn't making it any better for his friends, such as myself.
Matt was my best friend for around 4 or 5 years. I don't want to talk about this anymore really, but I know he would get a kick out of this article if he was here still, and if an article had to be written about his unfortunate death, he wouldn't mind a little humor. This is just his style.
Posted 12/05/2008 at 04:26:28 PMpeople who feel fucking sorry for the killers are all assholes. and people that are fucking CRYING and WEEPING in the middle of fucking second period are all fucking assholes. they were caught for a reason, investigators aren't stupid. people crying for their 'friends' cuz they murdered someone are just idiots crying for attention cuz they can't get any anywhere else. go bawl at home, don't come to school, cry to your friends, and then walk to class with a docile face. get a fucking life. that goes to all the dramatic people that cried in school and had people pat their back and leave for like 50 minutes of class, this goes out to you.
dont get mad at someone for thinking it was murder, they're making assumptions too, just like you for thinking they are innocent.
Posted 12/05/2008 at 04:29:56 PMLook, whoever anon. is:
Maybe we're crying for the loss of our FRIEND? And the fact that our other friends could have possibly done this?! It's NATURAL TO FEEL LOSS, so maybe you should have a little more sympathy for those close to the victim/suspects. Geez, how would you feel if it was one of your best friends? I bet you wouldn't be calling it fucking "dramatic" then, would you?
And to the author of this - seriously, your witty comments aren't needed. This is a tragedy, not something to be joked about. And you shouldn't assume to know so much about the suspects - you've never met them in person, much less spent time with them. I knew all but Drew, and all were very nice people.
Posted 12/05/2008 at 04:54:53 PMlook bud, i wasn't talking about the people crying for matt. if anything i cried for matt too. im talking about the people who know the alleged suspects and are acting all normal and happy when they're NOT WITH FRIENDS. i know what it's like to lose people, it's not fun and it's very painful. my respects go out to those people who were very close with matt, not the fony friends who pretend to know him to get sympathy for their poor pathetic lives
Posted 12/05/2008 at 05:07:36 PMTo those of you attacking the author of this blog:
1. He has never said that the individuals charged with murder are horrible people. However, if they are found to be guilty, the fact that four people can murder another innocent teenager, is a horrible thing. Period.
2. The witty style that he has is just the way he writes. If you don't like it, stop reading HIS blog.
3. The author is very good about providing updates about whether or not people are sentenced with the crime they are charged for. If any of these kids are found to be innocent, you can be sure that he will make that information known.
Posted 12/05/2008 at 05:18:04 PMOh, Becs, you knew the kids would come out of the woodwork for this one...they always do, laying blame anywhere and everywhere but where it rightfully belongs. Attacking Steve is classic commenter-in-denial behavior. They Google and end up here, ready for a fight. They'll move along soon enough I'm sure.
By the way, for the teenagers reading here - the four suspects have not been "convicted" yet - only accused.
Posted 12/06/2008 at 12:26:37 AMIt all goes back to that old saying, "Pick your friends wisely". It is sad when people die so young.
Posted 12/06/2008 at 04:29:54 AMYeah Steve. They were *nice people*. I mean, they are accused of killing someone, but they were *nice*. Don't forget that when you're making witty comments. How dare you. I'm sure the police arrested them with no evidence at all. They are NICE PEOPLE.
Oy. Kids. Think they know everything and the world revolves around them, eh? (I'm sure I wasn't any different.)
Posted 12/06/2008 at 12:11:23 PMnice, mean, what have you.
Posted 12/06/2008 at 01:28:22 PMa murder is a murder, someone's life was taken
you can't replace that
Two of these kids live extremly close to me. I've got a child going to one of these 2 schools in a couple years and it's starting to worry me greatly. Not just these 2 schools but ALL of them. Everywhere. I'm on the internet a lot for business and I've seen and heard it all. I do wonder what kind of monsters we're raising sometimes. Were the parents not aware of their online and Facebook activities? Whether he is proven guilty or not guilty - was the swat team storming the house last March not enough of a wake up call to get that kid some help???!
Posted 12/06/2008 at 04:39:45 PMI know all the kids except for Drew. Matt had been getting in a lot of trouble, and drinking heavily for several weeks before this happened. Ryan Hare got in trouble last year for having a paintball gun on school property, not a gun, but a paintball gun. When Apex Swat swarmed his house, they found his fathers gun and ammo. His father had been in the military at one time. The media keeps leaving the part out that the gun wasn't Ryans. Adil was goofy, and funny and shy at times. Allegra had her hair dyed partially blue, and hated rap music. She listened to Poets of the Fall and Ocean Machine. Shes a sweet, quiet kid that adored animals, rode horses every day, and had never been in trouble before. I could not believe any of this kids doing something like this! Especially Allegra.
Posted 12/06/2008 at 07:28:49 PMI find the repeated use of "witty" as if it meant verbal abuse rather telling. God help 'em if they're ever encounter sarcasm or irony.
Posted 12/06/2008 at 10:08:00 PMI knew Ryan, Allegra, and Drew.
Allegra was nice but generally quiet, though most times she seemed kinda sad. The last time I saw her we went to the Pirates 3 movie with a bunch of people. I was shocked to see her involved in this.
Ryan was funny and loved history and politics from what I could tell. He wasn't into drugs but carried a knife and at least $200 on him at all times. He didn't drop out of school, he was suspended for a year for shooting a paintball gun at a bus.
Drew on the other hand was on drugs most of the time. He was a funny kid, but he usually said stupid things. He was a Rastafarian and seemed to worship ICP. He was trying to grow dredlocks for a while, I'm not sure why he stopped.
None of these people were "bad". I was probably most concerned about Ryan but I never thought he would kill anyone. Drew and Ryan were good friends and Drew would probably do what Ryan told him to do. Allegra and Ryan had been dating for a good amount of time.
That's just my insight from the whole thing. Innocent until proven guilty. I wish I knew Matt though, he seemed like a great guy. I wish his family and friends the best.
Posted 12/08/2008 at 05:18:34 PM"I find the repeated use of "witty" as if it meant verbal abuse rather telling. God help 'em if they're ever encounter sarcasm or irony."
No kidding. Are some of these kids posting here actually in high school? Most of them seem barely literate. My six year old has better grammar than some of these fools.
Posted 12/09/2008 at 09:08:27 AMCause of death was asphyxiation but not strangulation. No more details relieved.

I don't know Allegra. But I dated Drew for awhile and I knew Ryan (Drew and Ryan were real close) and I met Aidil (or however you spell it) once or twice. Drew's always had issues. A stay at Dorthea Dix, beating a kid with a crow bar... But at the same time he had a sweet side. As for Ryan? He's definitely a fan of violence. He finds it humorous. I feel like everyone's starting to go crazy. Kito killing himself, Gavin raping an old woman, now this? I've had my own share of issues and I used to be a self-proclaimed "juggalette." But this is stupid. A group of kids who think they're bad glom on to each other and seem to worship a group of idiots who probably never graduated high school and get a kick out of painting their faces and rapping about stabbing people. Yes, I'm refering to ICP. It's time some kids decided to wake up and grow up. Or shit like this is just going to keep happening. It amazes me how many people are banning together to defend Drew (and most likely the others) of a crime they have obviously commited. Good hearts and good people, whatever. A life was taken. A mother is never going to see her child again or hear his voice. These people deserve to be locked up without bond. And hopefully one day they'll decide to get the help they obiviously need.
Posted 12/18/2008 at 09:45:56 AMI can tell you for a fact that Allegra did not like or listen to Insane Clown Posse. Drew was the only one of the 4 that listened to that music. As for Allegra, she went to see TSO a few weeks ago, and the cd's in her car are ones she shares with her mom, HIM, Poets of the Fall, Lordi, and my favorite, Ocean Machine.
Posted 12/18/2008 at 02:43:12 PMQuote from search warrant "The witness admitted to beating the deceased on the head with a hammer, tying the deceased with zip ties suffocating him with Duct tapeand disposing of him in a plastic bag. The witness also stated they attempted to utilize medications commonly used fro animals to plan the murder and read the deceased his fortune using tarot cards just prior to his death. The witness resides at 601 Walcott Way"
Posted 12/18/2008 at 06:00:58 PMQuote from search warrant "All three who confessed implicated the fourth as being directly involved"
Innocent until guilty..yes unless you've admitted your guilt whereupon it becomes guilty of what and how long will the jail term be.
Real friends don't let their friends get this messed up. Chose your friends carefully!!
Posted 12/18/2008 at 08:42:50 PMThe only problems with that logic are a few little things like coerced confessions, not being advised of one's rights, hysterical testimony, they could ALL be lying...
Posted 12/19/2008 at 02:49:16 PMThus, innocent until PROVEN guilty still trumps any of this childish tough-talk rubbish.
Juggalo crime is real and these children should all be sterilized.
Posted 12/24/2008 at 06:44:16 AMwow this is fucking rediculous. first of all juggalo's and juggalette's are NOT a fucking "gang". second of all FUCK JUGGALOWATCH.ORG!!
Posted 06/16/2009 at 02:09:40 PMDrew did not partake in the killing. He stood gaurd outside with a baseball bat.
When I went to jail in January I met Allegra. Bitch is crazy and has no regret.
FUCK JUGGALO WATCH! Me and my axe will give your forehead a buttcrack.
Posted 07/05/2009 at 04:27:57 PMwow, just cuz he disapred for alil bit dont mean anything, not even for 12 miles, did they do a drug test? maybe he was out smokin a j or something. just cuz he seems guilty dont mean anything to us juggalos, (lettes). n we live by our hatchets, guns are to chevy n for cheaters, not all los, lettes are killers...
Posted 08/13/2009 at 08:58:20 PMBunch of BS.... if you even knew the story you wouldnt be saying the things you are
Posted 11/02/2009 at 01:31:49 PMWhat they did was kind of crazy yea.. but matt was just as willing in his murder as anyone else... and yes I defend Drew...
