Man blames girlfriend's threesome for murder

MSNBC video about the arrest of Charlie Myers.
I've received numerous tips about the strange and tragic story of the murder of Ohio mom Jennifer Nelson. The 29-year-old Nelson's murder in her Dayton-area home was discovered after a couple found Nelson's 4-year-old son William wandering a rest stop on I-70.
William knew his parents' names and his home address, and that was how his mother's body was discovered.
An arrest has been made in this convoluted case: 22-year-old Charlie Myers of Columbus. Myers has apparently confessed to his part in the crime. He faces a charge of aggravated murder.
There have been many twists and turns in this case.
Nearly two weeks before Jennifer Nelson was shot, she and husband Eddie went to a concert in Columbus. While they were there, the couple's Honda was stolen from a parking garage on the OSU campus. A good deal of info was apparently inside the vehicle that could have pointed a perceptive thief back to the Nelsons' home in Dayton.
And that's where the Honda was found after Jennifer Nelson was murdered -- close to the Nelson residence on Redder Avenue, just outside Dayton. At the time, one of the Nelsons' other cars was missing, a black Oldsmobile Alero.
The Alero was found near Charlie Myers's residence in Columbus.
Myers was arrested in the past for arson and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. If the photo aired by MSNBC was accurate, then Myers (or an exact lookalike) has several profiles on MySpace, with screen names like "pimp_deaf_boy" and "lil_pimp_myers." One of the profiles states that he attended the Ohio School for the Deaf and studied computers. On another page, Myers wrote that he was "hard of hearing" and the "real pimp Charlie Myers." Photos attached to all the pages show the same young man seen in a photo broadcast on cable news, frequently wearing a ballcap cocked at an angle, affecting a hard look, a middle finger sometimes raised to the camera.
Based on the portion of the police press conference about Myers's arrest broadcast on MSNBC, it seems like police believe they are not done with their investigation, in spite of Myers's supposed confession. That said, people always automatically suspect the husband in cases like this, and police have stated more than once that Eddie Nelson is not a suspect. Nelson currently has custody of his son and has taken time off from his multiple jobs to care for William.

**NOTE**
Readers are requesting links to Charlie's MySpace pages. Here ya go -- I hesitated because MSNBC was, at the time, the only source for his photo and if there was a chance it wasn't the same guy, I didn't want to link it. That's changed. So:
http://www.myspace.com/pimp_deaf_boy
http://www.myspace.com/lil_pimp_myers
http://www.myspace.com/love_betty_joe
There is a fourth site that has only photos of a young woman but is listed as owned by a 22-year-old male named Charlie Myers. I've left that off this list. Also, those intrepid net detectives at Websleuths.com turned up Charlie Myers's VampireFreaks.com account:

Steve,
Posted 01/05/2009 at 12:24:58 PMI've been commenting on this on websleuths this morning-- have found myspace profiles for the victim, and her husband. "pimp_deaf_boy" is gone (can't even be googled) and "lil_pimp_myers" was last updated in November. All of the friends on the page are women . . . except for another Charlie-- can't tell if its the same guy or not, but the tone of the page is very different, and the last log-in was the 4th. This whole thing just seems too weird for words. Though LE says that the husband is not a suspect, does that really mean that the husband is not a suspect? I'm glad that this a multiple agency investigation as Phil Plummer ... well, let's just point out that he ran for RE-election using the slogan "There's a new Sheriff in town." (Huh?)
Out of investigative curiosity I tried to find Charlie Myers myspace pages and was not successful. Would it be possible for you to post links?
Posted 01/05/2009 at 12:57:36 PMI did some reading about this on Sunday and found the story about the first car theft squirrely. What man leaves their wallet and credit cards in the car while attending an out of town concert? It also seemed odd that the wife left her cellphone in the car since she was the one with contacts/relatives in that area.
Maybe it is one of those stranger than truth crimes or Charlie was aware of some past "activities" that occured at the home. The husband did some online sharing with others about brewing beer at home.
Posted 01/05/2009 at 01:13:09 PMThanks for the links. It looks like it is the same person. I am a third year Criminal Justice student and eat this stuff up.
It is sad that with society the way it is that the spouse is always the first and primary suspect in these cases. Sad not only because in most cases it is true but that ordinary non-law enforcement people know criminals so well that they can predict outcomes and murderers.
It is helpful to law enforcemnt pshcological forensics but it also helps murderers develope a plan or scenario if you will.
If we can predict it we need to now use this to asscess high risk people and prevent theses cases from becoming headlines.
Posted 01/05/2009 at 01:29:30 PMWell Diane -
What type of person ARE you? I am one of the 'contacts/relatives' from the area. They left their stuff in there because in a concert, you don't want to be carrying a lot of stuff. How DARE you say that this was squirrely or that this had to do with any past activities. This girl was one of the absolute BEST people I have ever met and a mother like no other. HOW DARE YOU try to tarnish this and excuse what this horrible person did to her. She wanted to defend her baby. That baby was her life.
CHARLIE however, if you note from the pics on his myspace pages, is throwing up GANG signs. hmm...I wonder. How on earth can you be so...rude and distasteful.
Posted 01/05/2009 at 01:46:22 PMVeronica, give it a rest. No one is attacking Jenny. This is a website where people follow crime. Every week we see instances in which women are killed by their spouses, and most of us recognize when the pieces don't quite fit. And the pieces don't quite fit here. No one is passing judgment on the decisions that Jenny made. (Though we go to see NHL games in Columbus pretty often and we would never leave our wallets, cell phones and so forth in the car in a public parking garage.) And why does the DDN say that they went to a Duran Duran concert when Ed Nelson's own MySpace page says they went to see "Eagles of Death?" Jenny Nelson sounds like a wonderful, devoted mother-- but in the Facebook profiles of her friends, some of them are also throwing gang signs. (It's useful to remember that NOTHING you post on the internet is ever private, including Eddie Nelson's MySpace page, which he made private this afternoon, but which can still be viewed in full through the Google cache.) Plus, did you know that Charlie Myers is deaf? Are you sure those were gang signs? I would lay off reading these kinds of forum while the wounds of your grief are so fresh-- you have my heartfelt sympathies. I know what it's like to lose a friend in such a terrible manner.
Posted 01/05/2009 at 02:11:39 PMI'm the type that follows crime stories. I've not tarnished Jenny's image. I did question why a man wouldn't have his wallet full of credit cards on him and a cellphone left in a car while out of town.
The police said they are still investigating to see if it's possible Charlie knew his victims. I suggest you not read these type of boards because you'll see lots of speculation. It is very unusual for someone to steal a car in one city and travel a long distance to break into the same victim's home. The Nelson's don't appear to be people of wealth, so it is more than strange for a perp to drive that distance to steal a computer.
It could be he drove the stolen car to their town and decided to break in their home while in the area....then steal another car at their house. But it sounds fishy that he'd take a chance if these were total strangers. Anything's possible though and I have wondered if he knew of them indirectly.
Posted 01/05/2009 at 02:18:55 PMIn these situations every nook and crany of the victim and the possible suspects lives will be exsposed. I am sure that The speculations in this and other blogs is only the beginning.
A personal speculation is that to block previously public profiles and hide information that resembles ones actions or personality hints at some level of guilt.
I realize everyone is different but hiding information does not help ones claims of innocence. I made a decision a long time ago that if I were in this position I would lay all my cards out to prove my innocence at the very start. Problems develope, concerning ones honesty, as soon as they statr to cover their footsteps.
As I said this is my humvble opinion and not law. I too empathize with the victims family and friends. No one wants to face this tragedy, ever. But if you can not handle speculation of amatuer sleuths, do not search the net for hits on Charlie Myers until the case is over.
Posted 01/05/2009 at 02:32:13 PMMy husband leaves his credit cards, id, etc in the car, most of the time. He doesn't own a wallet. I don't think he's being prudent, but people do it.
Just because the husband has made his MySpace private recently, doesn't mean he's hiding anything, IMO. I wouldn't want all the media, web-sleuths, etc, looking for me, although I realize that I'm "out there" already. I also realize that NOTHING on the internet is private.
Posted 01/05/2009 at 03:36:12 PMRepeating some of what was mentioned previously, I've known people who have locked their wallets, purses, etc... in their car or trunk because they deemed it a better alternative to carrying it with them (there are pick pockets too).
As for this particular crime, I live not far from where Charlie Myers lives now and was arrested, and in Grove City, a town indicated on one of the Myspace pages as his residence.
It is just so sad to see what happened to her son more than anything. Must have been so scary for him. My own kids are much older but I can only imagine how this poor little boy must have felt.
I pray for peace for Jenny and her family and friends.
Posted 01/05/2009 at 04:54:12 PMHey Soobs, I remember discussions about purses being left in cars in a past crime discussion...Nancy Cooper murder, maybe. Anyway, I was surprised at the women that admitted they normally left their purses in the car..even overnight.
The facts that have been released so far are bizarre. It's the multiple county crime spree with no real payoff for Charlie Myers that bugs me the most.
Posted 01/05/2009 at 05:16:51 PMI've known Charile Myers since I was kid. Charlie isn't bad person to me, I know he is not. But accroding to these crimes commited that charlie myers made. He've been troubled since he was kid. I do feel sorry about Jenny, & im glad the baby is unharmed.
I am honestly wasn't surpised that charlie did this. he always nedded a help, but nobody wanted to help him.
Posted 01/05/2009 at 07:26:24 PMReading this article, it sounds like Charlie was interested in something more than a stolen computer. And it just keeps getting weirder.

Posted 01/05/2009 at 09:59:53 PMI went to school with some of this family and everyone knew them. They had some foster kids and adopted kids too I believe. They are a very close loving family. I cannot see Eddie having anything to do with Jenny's murder. I grew up in Dayton Ohio and its not the safest place in the world. Charlie may have stolen the car not knowing they were from Dayton and not Columbus and after having access to all their info decided to rob them. It makes sense to do a crime an hr away if you think it will up your chances of not getting caught and we dont know all the facts yet. I seriously doubt he broke in over some home made brewed beer, thats just stupid. Alot of people have been known to leave personel items in their vehicles and alot do if their going inside somewhere they dont wanna carry it around the whole time. Plus there not the wealthiest so maybe they figured leave the wallet in the car and you wont spend any unneccesary money.Theres been a few cases of ppl having personel items stolen and the guy coming back to rob their home. He dont hear well maybe he was startled or maybe hes just a worthless human being who took the life of a good person and mother in front of her innocent child.
Posted 01/06/2009 at 08:33:05 AMIn regards to what Larkin wrote; "Plus, did you know that Charlie Myers is deaf? Are you sure those were gang signs?".
YOU need to educate yourself in American Sign Language. I am an interpreter for law enforcement and court agencies. None of these hand jesters even remotely resemble ASL. with 28 yrs of experience, i can professionally tell you, those are most definitively flown gang symbols.
R.I.P. Jenny Nelson Rot in hell prison scum Myers
Posted 01/06/2009 at 01:56:12 PMDisgusting, this guy is another Joseph Duncan. Now all the traveling makes sense. He was out to molest the poor little boy.
"Nelson, 29, broke free from her restraints, grabbed a knife and then stabbed Myers in the back while he was trying to have sexual contact with the boy, investigators said."

Posted 01/06/2009 at 05:07:08 PMThank You Diane! Now, if everyone on here would just keep up with the whole story! Everyone should be marking their pages private when you have photos posted on them. Unfortunately, some of us don't think to do so until after their privacy has been invaded. And how many times have each of you left belongings in your vehicle? I'm sure more than once! Considering the registration alone is enough to find your personal information on the internet. God bless the family and friends of Jennifer Nelson and may he watch over this dearing child!
Posted 01/06/2009 at 10:16:18 PMPlease allow me to address some of these issues.
1. The Alero was NOT found near Charlie Myers home. It was found just off I-270 in a flea market parking lot. This location is approximately 20 miles from his residence.
2. At concert/football sites in Columbus, all females must have their purses "inspected" before being allowed into the venue and you are scanned. And I lock my purse in the trunk of my car, putting money in my jean pockets. There is nothing abnormal about leaving wallets/purses/credit cards locked in your car.
3. Charlie Myers has "confessed" and apologized. Right! He is facing, I believe 18 charges now including kidnapping and molestation of the 4 year old child. He has been previously charged with gross sexual imposition.
4. This crime is tragic enough without people pointing fingers at the husband. Look for Charlie's brother and friend to also be charged in the near future.
Posted 01/08/2009 at 09:23:51 AMWow this is sooo heartbreaking. I feel bad for the little boy and also for the mom, she gave her life to protect her child.
It's scary that this monster got the home address because like all of us, we have to carry insurance and registration in a car at all times.
The only positive thing out of this is that he didn't kill the little boy, but to be witout his mother is heartbreaking
I hope this monster is put to death
Posted 01/09/2009 at 04:30:13 PMUnbelievably heinous and evil. I also hope he gets not life without parole, but the death sentence. He should be put down like the sick monster he is, hopefully some inmates will inflict some of the same torture he inflicted upon that poor little boy before he's executed. And please, Ohio, no appeals, no maintaining the scum from taxpayers' money, get the job done immediately and rid us of this monster.
Posted 01/09/2009 at 05:15:35 PMGuess what-the world gets loonier by the minute-there is now a Charlie Myers Support Group on myspace
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=322770949
It should be called the charlie myers excuse group
Posted 01/13/2009 at 08:20:04 PMOkay,
I would like to tell you all a little about Charlie Myers. I knew him personally. You see I was a corrections officer at Indian River Juvenile Correctional Facility where Myers was locked up for 3 plus years. He started out on the mental health unit because they believed him to be (not mentally retarded) but slow and also because he was hearing impared (not deaf) he has about 80% loss in one ear and like 60% in the other. while on the mental health unit which was "C" unit at the time. He sexually assaulted a younger youth with the last name switzer. there were several other incidents of aggression towards youth on this unit so he was moved to a unit with an older population in the same facility. I had transferred units and was now on "B" unit which was for older general population inmates. This is where Myers was moved to. During this time he became more aggeressive towards women especially. He would threaten harm towards the women officers and supervisors as well as leering at their back sides while making sexual gestures. (One could argue that all men do this but for his age it seemed too graphic). Myers also became affiliated with a gang in the facility. I am not sure which one we had a few of them over the years. The main gangs in the juvenile facility wer the HF (Heartless Felons), MBK (My Brothers Keeper) and one other I can't remember right now. I am also familiar with ASL although not fluent I am sure those are gang signs he was using. Also for a while while Myers was going to high school (Which he graduated) in the facility he had a female ASL interpreter which he had taken away from him because of his behavior such as sexual gestures behind her back and telling youth that she was his girlfriend. (She was a very attractive which is no excuse). I personally had a physical altercation with Myers due to his aggression towards female staff members. I don't know about any of the other officers at the facility but I feel partly responsibile for Jenny Nelson's death because maybe there was something more I could have done to get him charged with additional crimes he comitted behind bars. Maybe he could have then recieve an adult sentance and have been kept behind bars. You see the punishment Myers recieved at the facility for his sexual assault and aggression towards the other youth and staff was most likely 3 days of isolation and a Youth Behavior Incident Report (YBIR) which does nothing but keep a record of behavior. It does carry some sanctions with it that are assigned by the writing officer. Most often they are very minor punishments like writing essays, or referred to the unit team members for privilage level reduction. I would like anyone who sees this to know that Myers deserves nothing less thant the death penalty for all he has done in his life. Lawyers are trying to say that he was abused and unloved as a child. Well we all have our hard luck stories and none of us lead a charmed life. That is no excuse to go around killing people or sexually assaulting others. I sincerely hope that someone like Nancy Grace gets this story and looks into the fact that none of the Administrators at Indian River tried to keep Myers Behind bars by charging him with an adult crime. My sincerest sympathies for the Family and Friends of the Nelson's. May the Lord be with the little boy who lost his mother and hopefully he will be able to recover from the sexual trauma he has received.
Posted 01/14/2009 at 03:18:56 AMDiana, you need to get a life. There is a young boy and a husband who have lost their mom/wife in a most heinous way and all you can do is speculate and you just won't shut up. You are not an expert. You are getting your information from the media. Let the family heal in peace and quit rehashing it!
Posted 01/16/2009 at 04:53:30 PMI hope this man gets the death penalty for tearing this family apart. There is not enough harsh punishments for the crimes committed on innocent victims, and until things change we will continue to keep paying our tax dollars on scum like this till he gets out in 10 years and kills the next victim or victims.
Posted 01/22/2009 at 01:12:20 AMI also think that this case doesn't make sense. I strongly believe Charlie had help committing this crime. He may have had a bad history and I'm sure his roommates new of it. This could of been their scape goat. As for Mr. Nelson, I haven't really felt comfortable with letting him off the hook yet. There is still some evidence lingering out there, meanwhile the sherrif's office is padding eachother on the back. Charlie, I don't think he would turn his friends in. From what it sounds like, Charlie just needed to be loved and cared for. I for one feel for both lives that were taken that night. Jenny's and Charlie's, but especially little William.
Posted 02/11/2009 at 02:57:04 PMAnyone who would blame the victims family is as loony as Charlie. Charlie admitted it and the evidence is there.
Posted 04/18/2009 at 06:02:38 PMThe Nelson's are suffering and the child victim has been hurt to the point of fearing leaving his on home even for a minute. This poor motherless child was the witness to Charlie's horrific crime.
Tutkill, I'm sorry that it has taken me so long to respond to your comments towards me. I completely understand that you are mad as hell, but my anger is focused on the mistake that was made that night that caused all this destruction. It's just unbelievable to me that anyone would keep all those personnal items in an unlocked, no car alarm vechicle. I have yet to be at a concert that doesn't ask for I.D. when purchasing an alcholic drink at least in my state. Unless, they just had water and soda. The cellphone being left behind, I've done that. I still believe in my heart that Charlie was not alone when this happened. He was the only one who got caught. I believe that there is one more person that he trying to protect and I believe that person is someone that is close to him. Tut, it is a good thing that a person got caught for this crime, but wouldn't it be better if The Nelson family really got justice by having everyone who was involved pay for the crime? My anger is also focused on The Child Protective Services Agency for overlooking the years of physical and mental abuse that poor Charlie had to endure. My opinion is still the same. Charlie does not deserve the death penalty, but he does deserve medical treatment. And just so you know, I'm not here to give you some story that I love him to start drama. I am a real person with real compassion for everyone who has been effected by this tragady.
Posted 08/06/2009 at 01:04:21 PMAgain-Charlie was an adult who made this horrible decisions. If someone else was involved why did he tell his roommate that he killed the woman who cut him? He didn't tell his roommate someone else was involved. Also he hasn't told his attorney someone else was involved. Sounds like you are delusional. Also the surviving victim did not report of another person involved.

here is where charlie denied being stabbed and where his roommate told on Charlie.
Posted 11/13/2009 at 02:16:06 PMwhen will this case go to trial? Just our luck the scum bag will walk free on a "psycho" plea of insanity and do it all over again to some other person.
Posted 01/27/2010 at 07:52:48 PMJust too bad she didnt push that knife in deep enough when she stabbed him, he deserves to die.
Posted 02/19/2010 at 06:43:50 PMCharlie recently(Feb.2010) plead guilty to all charges. He received life with no possibility of parole.
Posted 03/02/2010 at 11:10:02 AMCharlie confessed to every charge!!!!!!!!!
Posted 03/02/2010 at 02:17:14 PMCharlie did this to avoid the death penalty!!!!!
Judge gave him life without parole plus 49 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tut,
Posted 03/05/2010 at 10:38:08 AMThank you for the update. I have been keeping up with the case. What I meant by someone else being involved didn't been that that person had to be physcially there at the time the crime was committed. I still stand on my thoughts that someone else new exactly what was going on. Time tells all...
