Man kills serial pedophile

| A CD by aspiring singer and masseuse Dianne M. Parker |
Cadigan sought relief through massage therapy, and it appears as though this was where his problems began.
Cadigan was supposed to attend a Super Bowl party, but he didn't show. His girlfriend reported him missing. He'd left a crock pot on in his home in Osceola County, Florida. The ex-cop also left his glasses behind.
Cadigan was found last Sunday. His body lay in the woods near Holopaw in a remote part of the county. Cadigan's killer had cut off his head.
Who killed the former cop often described as a true hero by his colleagues? Who dumped his decapitated remains in the woods?

According to authorities in Brevard County, Cadigan's killer had once been his masseuse. Malabar resident Dianne M. Parker, age 55, was arrested today and charged with Paul Cadigan's murder. From the Orlando Sentinel, an article by Willoughby Mariano:
Parker knew Paul Cadigan because she was a licensed masseuse and the victim was a former or current client, Goodyear said.
Telephone records showed Paul Cadigan made calls to a phone registered in Parker's name before his death. Detectives think they had argued over payment issues, but they have not established a motive for the killing.
Via her excellent Orlando Homicide Report, Mariano pointed readers towards an eccentric Angelfire site Dianne Parker created to promote herself as a musician:
http://www.angelfire.com/indie/songsoftomorrow/index.html
From the site's main page:
Songs of Tomorrow Records LLC is a start up record company which supports its first artist, Dianne M. Parker. It was formed to facilitate her career and to promote her work...
[...]
Songs of Tomorrow will invest in becoming an in home studio at Dianne's home in Malabar, Florida. We will offer the recording facilities to the public as well as develop our own CD's. We aspire to work with other record companies to develop a network of producers who can develop background music, arrangements, and provide other support for our artists. One aspiration is to work with David Foster and his people who produced the background music for Josh Groban because it is so amazingly done. Dianne has a very melodic voice which is of this kind of caliber.
The most important thing about Songs of Tomorrow Records LLC is that the company will be open to all artists of different spiritual paths, and focused on providing music that uplifts the spirit, enhances well being, and promotes happiness and love. We want to provide the highest quality of positive uplifting music as is possible. We will not ever promote anything negative in any way or do music that is harmful to others or the environment. Songs of Tomorrow Records LLC will always uphold the highest standard in making the world a better, more tolerant, loving place as a result of expressing beautiful music to the world. We all share this world and we must begin to embrace the things of healing and love for the sake of our survival as a people and a world. We will foster peace, reverence for our natural world, and spiritual growth through beautiful original music.
Dianne also had a biography page on the site. From that page:
I am a strong woman with a history of many trials which has developed in me compassion, understanding, and love to a deep degree. Life has taught me to be true to myself, to do my passion and live my dream and never compromise my values and my person hood, never give up on that which makes me happy and to be loving to all people, no matter what their religion, race, or other difference they may have. We all share planet Earth and we must see that loving each other is the point of living. These are some of my values and beliefs.
As bizarre as Dianne Parker's "Songs of Tomorrow" pages may seem in light of her being an accused killer -- who may have even decapitated her victim -- she created another, much more recent website that seemed to express a very different side of her personality. A vengeful, vindictive side.
At some point Parker posted a personal profile on the website for the Women Are Talking Show. The following is from that page, and emphasis has been added:
I am a full time student at BCC on track for direct connect to UCF BS degree in Psychology. I will be on PhD track upon completion of this degree. I plan to get credentials to practice as a clinical psychologist in Brevard County or a nearby county, depending on where I move to.
I am moving to Agricultural land to keep my homing pigeons safe and to raise exotic birds as a business. I am working on having multiple streams of income and in finding ways to help improve the world around me however I can with my abilities and training.
I am an excellent massage therapist working with medical massage techniques and Sweedish relaxation massage techniques to bring the best results of a comprehensive massage to those I serve. If you desire, I can come and do short massages for cast and crew and my rates are reasonable. Just call to talk.
I have decided to start a website to help people who have been victimized by perps that have whirl-winded through their lives. Feel free to visit, contribute, become a member or just brouse free info/offerings on my site (site is new and under development and will grow over time, so come back to check out what we're doing from time to time): www.howtogetevenwithyourfavoriteperp.com
"How To Get Even With Your Favorite Perp" is nothing if not paranoid in nature. The next quote comes from the page Parker titled, "About Your Host and Author of This Site":
Hi all, glad you stopped by! I am a woman, you probably guessed that, and I am determined to find ways to empower myself and take care of the perps in my life. I think that they have to pay! How did I get so many exciting responses from perpland? I think from the beginning I was set up to rotate in this victim pattern! OH, Yea, I know many of you can identify... that neon sign that says "I am the perfect victim, perps welcome"! Some of us only have one perp, otherwise, we seem to be just fine and perhaps we have already come to terms with that perp. But, many, like me, have several if not innumerable perps throughout our lives that we never got over and could never get justice for what was done to us...
[...]
This is pretty exciting for me because I have worked very hard most of my life searching for wellness of being. I am an empath and I feel the emotions and spirits of what is around me. I hear the earth cry and I hear the suffering of the people. Perhaps that sensitivity is what makes me a great songwriter and gives me compassion for all that lives. It also gives me fire and strength with passion as a warrioress! I find no paradox in having both natures! It's the fear that is the real prison-master! Fear must be overcome in order to be a true warrior/warrioress in the physical, emotional and spiritual reality of our lives. This is empowerment and healing, standing against wrong and making it right and it is being secure in becoming a loving human being and a strong defender of love learning of and using the diversity of weapons available to us. No one wants to fight. In fact many people spend their lives avoiding any kind of conflict. But I feel that it is healthy to be able to deal with conflict, prevent victimization and stop the perps in their tracks!! If not at that time, do it when you are strong and "get 'er done"!! Resolution and closure do have their perks!
There are numerous nuggets of insanity to be found on Parker's site about empowerment and revenge. One, from her "Support Offerings" page, is notable for what appears to be utter lack of insight on Parker's part masquerading as self-searching:
My mother was a true, full blown, absolute, USDA stamped and approved Narcissist! Consequently, I learned some pretty bad life skills and people skills...or not! There was much emotional abuse and some physical abuse that I can remember. I can't even go into the spiritual abuse here! But most of what happened appears in symptoms and inabilities, pain and fear, along with nebulous feelings of deep self loathing and lack of self worth. There was more here than meets the eye and I think that symptoms are the smoke to let you know: "HEY, there's a fire here! HELP!". In dealing with narcissism, one must realize that the center of the universe is really not that person who seems to act like it is. This character flaw, and spiritual illness, makes one unavailable emotionally and spiritually. I think this is where all perps live! A narcissist has no concept of the feelings of others and, therefore, can do just what is best for them and their agenda. Many times these are our sociopaths and psychopaths...
You know about the sociopaths and psychopaths -- they do things like (allegedly) kill and decapitate ex-cops over unpaid bills, perhaps. Theoretically speaking.
In 1981, then-Hingham, Massachusetts cop Paul Cadigan performed an unquestionable act of heroism. He rescued three children from their kidnapper. Cadigan then exchanged fire with the kidnapper. He wounded the assailant, who was eventually arrested and sent to prison for his crimes. Paul Cadigan saved the kids and put the perp away.
If police are right about Dianne M. Parker, it seems like Paul Cadigan must have become her idea of a "perp." If so, that was the moment all the sweetness and light departed from Parker's mind, and she dropped all concern for the feelings of others. She allegedly did what she she thought was best for her, and her agenda.
Whatever that was.

THIS LADY IS A SICK FUCKING BITCH AND I HOPE SHE GOES STRAIGHT TO HELL!
Posted 02/13/2009 at 11:13:58 PMTHIS LADY IS A SICK FUCKING BITCH, AND I HOPE SHE GOES STRAIGHT TO HELL!
Posted 02/13/2009 at 11:16:29 PMWhat a dreadful crazy bizarre no good Bitch .
Posted 02/14/2009 at 12:04:22 AMWell, I would certainly expect anyone to have killed him would be someone able to get close to him and whom he trusted.
Now as to a massage therapist, particularly an aging one. Not much money in that 'career' and not much longevity either as the infirmities of age take hold. Also ofcourse if she wants to live in a rural setting so as to raise her exotic birds well how then is she going to have a sufficient client base for the massage business? And this in-home recording studio... just how many musicians are going to trek there to do their recording gigs?
Bitter, illogical and troubled? Yes. Those with absurd dreams of a PhD, a rural massage practice, a rural recording studio ... generally have pretty absurd ideas about other aspects of life too.
Posted 02/14/2009 at 09:31:35 AMI do not think it is necessary to demonize the woman. What she is alleged to have done is gruesome and beyond the pale, there is no doubt about that. It also appears obvious she is mentally ill and gravely so. Perhaps a life could have been saved if our society valued access to affordable mental health care. How pathetic is it that the best mental health care in our country is to be found inside of prisons rather than available before a crime is committed? This is simply a tragedy no matter how one looks at it. My heart goes out to Mr. Cadigan's family and friends.
Posted 02/14/2009 at 01:51:06 PMJennifer, Dianne Parker may even try the insanity defense, but she won't make it fly. Really read her "How to Get Even" site. It's paranoid, but there is no truly disordered thought there. The opposite, really -- she had her own clear but contorted logic.
Also, dismembering and hiding the body shows calculation and an awareness on the part of the killer of just what she or he has done.
I would have felt like you at one point, but I've been writing about this stuff so long at this point that I simply have come to conclude that there are sick people, and there are evil people, and there are sick and evil people. Ms. Parker, if she is guilty of these crimes as alleged, is probably a little more evil than sick. Dismembering the dead body of another human being takes either full-blown, balls-to-the-wall madness or a kind of cold, unfeeling calculation. I sense the latter here.
Posted 02/14/2009 at 02:53:09 PMAside from the waste of this estimable man's life--
My God, how these people go on! If you've ever been in a relationship with a narcissist, and a malignant one at that, a sane person has to walk away from their never-ending stream of noise. Most people with sense will take a little of this, and run away at the first chance: thus they often seek out the vulnerable or needy. If we had a dollar for every time she uses the words "my"(13) and "I" (31) and "me"(9) and "myself" (a paltry 2) in a few paragraphs, we'd still not be paid enough to endure this woman for one (1) second.
Imagine being trapped on her table, in pain, listening to this.
Posted 02/14/2009 at 03:43:58 PMWow. Just... wow.
Posted 02/14/2009 at 05:39:41 PMHow shocking for me that an experienced detective apparently didn't realize he was in danger until too late.
With so much scary, clear-cut evidence of premeditation, evidence that she contemplated such acts for a looong time, suggestions that she actually sought out victims and enjoyed the process, I'll be disappointed if they let the "lady" plead out. But that's often the case with even the most horrific females aint it.
For some reason, Laura, your comment made me place this woman in my head. She kind of reminds me of Annie Wilkes, from Stephen King's Misery. When I read the book, prior to seeing Kathy Bates's brilliant portrayal, I pictured someone who looked a little like Dianne Parker. She also seems to have the weird dichotomy in her personality, that split between all the new age-y sweetness and light and the vengeful, female "warrior."
Ew. I creeped myself out.
Posted 02/14/2009 at 05:47:47 PMFolks, I know this woman! She is a loon! She has several personalities. This could have been the work of "Adrian", the male personna she from time to time would portray. Yeah, insanity is likely a plea, and in most cases I would say "bullshit", however, this bitch is definitely crackers. Unfortunately for Mr. Cadigan, his "spidey senses" failed him this time. My condolences.
Posted 02/14/2009 at 06:38:07 PMSteven, I have read her "how to get even" site and it is indeed disturbing.
It is a common misperception that mental defect requires disordered thought. That is not true. Dissociation from reality can present as highly ordered in fact. Unfortunately, popular culture representation of "psychos" is not typical of true mental disease. I am afraid that writing about this stuff does not replace the experience of working with the mentally ill on a regular basis.
It is much more difficult to categorize the mentally ill than it is to diagnose categories of physical disease. Based on what I have read, I would find it very hard to believe this woman is sane in a legal sense.
NOTE FROM STEVE: What you're saying is reasonable, Jennifer, but are you familiar with the M'Naghten Rule? It forms the basis for the general view of insanity within the American legal system. Quote: "Every man is to be presumed to be sane, and ... that to establish a defense on the ground of insanity, it must be clearly proved that, at the time of the committing of the act, the party accused was laboring under such a defect of reason, from disease of mind, and not to know the nature and quality of the act he was doing; or if he did know it, that he did not know he was doing what was wrong."
I'm not necessarily stating that I think this should happen, but I think the prosecutor in this case will likely argue, based on Parker's behavior after Mr. Cadigan's death, that she does not fit the standard outlined in that quote. For instance: the killer in this case clearly tried to conceal what happened through dismemberment and disposal of the body far from the scene of the crime -- killers adjudged insane by the legal system frequently do not bother with such things. Generally prosecutors view efforts to hide or obfuscate a crime as evidence of sanity. Fact is, the legal and medical definitions of sanity are apples and oranges. Even if Ms. Parker is totally insane in our eyes -- and I imagine she is probably scary-crazy -- the legal system may not agree.
Posted 02/14/2009 at 07:40:07 PMWe locals know that this cop had two brains, but only enough blood for one of them to work at a time.
Posted 02/14/2009 at 09:31:19 PMJumping in here, but the discussion is the classic dilemma at the intersetcion of law and psychology.
Diann is most certainly disturbed and diagnosable. (possibly bupolar, maybe psychotic disorder and likely borderline and/or narcissistic personality disorder.) But she may not be insane.
So many times the crimes make perfect sense from within the bizarre logic of an individual's personal disturbed story.
Likely she had a detailed fantasy about the strong man that she may have felt was special. I suspect his death was the result of a deeply felt fantasy on her part and a rejection by him.
The other likely scenario is that he perceived her massage as sexual and she saw him as a perp. That activated her "warrior" and she killed him to protect all women. Of course, then she has to deal with the body. The head thing was an afterthought. The simple fact that they caught her so quickly suggests that she had no real plan, and covered her behavior poorly.
This story is a version of "SNAPPED," about a kooky woman with an abused past who lived at the edge of reality. Steve you are right, there is a bit of MERCY in this one...
Posted 02/16/2009 at 11:21:49 AMI knew this woman. I go to school with her. I am shocked beyond belief! She was always kind and a good friend to me. I do hope that justice prevails though and finds her guilty or not guilty if either is the case.
Posted 02/17/2009 at 02:10:25 PMi called her moomoo all the time and laughed when i called her a fat bitch. i knew she was a crazy sycho!
Posted 02/17/2009 at 02:15:04 PMAs the author stated, "Retired homicide Detective Paul Cadigan suffered a degenerative bone disease that caused him a great deal of grief."
This sounds like it could have been an assisted suicide.
Not currently legal, but perhaps it should be. As someone who suffers from constant debilitating pain, that can be a option, hang the law. Add a disturbed person, who is spiritual and wants to help, one can find a willing accomplice who doesn't think about the consequences of her actions, can cause this result.
Posted 02/18/2009 at 08:01:11 AMi knew dianne very well..this atrocious act has me and my entire family blown away.. i agree with the assisted suicide or the fact this "police" officer may not have been the "hero" everyone portrays. the paper stated that he made several advances to dianne that made her cut off contact as records showed. i am not saying she was not different..she did have a "wierdness" about her but never to harm someone just because she could. my family and i helped build her pigeon coops on her property along with other various tasks. i may piss people off but the truth should be told..she was a weird but helpful person...if you needed something she would try her best to help you out..please give her a chance to find out what really happened..what made her snap?
Posted 02/20/2009 at 10:16:45 AMHOMETOWN, I would be very interested to hear more about this 'blood flow' problem, as I tend to wager Dianne felt she was yet AGAIN being victimized and with the looming threat of foreclosure on her home and the perceived seemingly endless hits life continued to throw at her she just snapped. It is my feeling that her "revenge" site was intended to be a place for people to safely vent their angry feelings in an attempt to rid themselves of the anger and pain without causing anyone any REAL harm. But for whatever reason, this last perceived victimization was the straw that broke the camel's back. I AM IN NO WAY CONDONING HER ACTIONS. She is most definitely a little odd and regardless of the reasons, she took a life. But I am simply saying my sneaking suspicion is that the cop was not as much a 'hero' as he may be portrayed to be -which, as you know, happens QUITE frequently

I shipped with this guy in the 60's, he was weird then. He attended a reunion once and could only talk about himself. Strange way to end his life, but not surprising.
Posted 03/23/2009 at 02:58:59 PMFor a little insight into these "animal breeder" types.
They move to rural areas because they are frequently getting complaints about filth, noise, animal cruelty, law breaking, etc
They also have a huge opposition to getting licensed and being real businesses, because they do not want their troubled operations to be inspected and because they are not reporting the income and not paying taxes.
So they move to "rural" areas that have fewer laws, and where it is easier to hide this kind of activity.
They claim to be "animal lovers" but they use animals for profit. Many run puppy mills, some run cat breeding mills, bird mills, etc.
A very disturbed, selfish community of (mostly female) oddballs and misfits who think they have "constituational" rights to do whatever they want.
