Ballistics May Match Gun in Phil Markoff's Apartment to Brisman Murder
AP segment about Phil Markoff.
A reader posted a comment on this entry tonight stating that ballistics had matched a gun found in Phil Markoff's apartment to the weapon that killed JuLissa Brisman. Shortly after that, the Boston Globe posted an article online confirming the rumor. Quoting from the Globe:
A preliminary match has been made between the semi-automatic handgun found in Philip Markoff's apartment and the weapon used to kill Julissa Brisman at the Boston Marriott Copley Place last week, several law enforcement officials have told the Globe.
Prints found on the restraints used in the three crimes possibly linked to Markoff have also been matched to the 23-year-old medical student.
So far, then, police have said that they found underwear belonging to the victims in Markoff's apartment, they have linked several cell phone and Internet records back to Markoff, and of course they have a guy on security footage from various hotels who looks a hell of a lot like Phil Markoff - the guy fiancee Megan McAllister is certain would never hurt a fly.
But don't give her hell. Denial is one the mind's most powerful defense mechanisms. If you were in Megan McAllister's shoes, you might just want to retreat into its luxurious embrace, too.
As for Phil Markoff, he's on suicide watch. Which is really, if you think about it, his own sort of escape, if he succeeds in offing himself. Let's hope he doesn't.
