Just in Case You've Missed it on the Rest of the Internet: Phil Spector Found Guilty

Someone was so excited about the verdict in the Spector trial they just taped their TV.

I mean seriously, it's the true crime denouement everyone has been waiting for. From the New York Times:

Phil Spector, the rock music impresario behind such hits such as "Da Doo Ron Ron," "You've Lost that Lovin' Feeling" and "Be My Baby," was convicted of shooting and killing a struggling actress at his mansion after a night of drinking. [...] Mr. Spector, 69, faces at least 18 years in prison.

That's right. Epically nutty musical genius and now convicted murderer Phil Spector faces the rest of his natural life in prison with absolutely no access whatsoever to crazy, crazy wigs.

I'm glad they found him guilty. I'm a criminal justice major and when I took the intro class we had to be in groups and we were all assigned a criminal and had to prove if they were guilty or innocent and the jury was our fellow classmates. Of course my group got Phil Specter and we were able to prove he was guilty of murdering Ms Clarkson. We showed his past with abuse, alcoholism and guns and how he got physically violent with a gun even on John Lennon once. We also showed the types of medicine he was on and how he wasn't supposed to be drinking with those medicines. In the past a former wife he kept prisoner and threatened to kill her if she ever escaped. Thankfully she did. We also used forensics to show how by the damage of Ms Clarkson's teeth she couldn't have committed suicide. She also had plans made to go to a Comic Con according to her website and from me viewing the pages through her website guest book I saw how kind and devoted she was to her fans and I highly doubt she would have made plans to see her fans if she was going to commit suicide and how she went out with her mother to buy some comfortable shoes to stand up in for hours and was planning on going and why would she commit suicide in a stranger's home and we showed how someone cleaned up the crime scene etc. So if my group could show Specter guilty I'm glad the pro's were able to. I'm glad Ms Clarkson, RIP, finally got her justice.
I can't tell you how much this case bugged me. I guess it's because (as I later realized, since I'm great with faces but horrible with names) I had briefly met Lana Clarkson at the Comic Con in San Diego back in the mid-1990s. We had a mutual friend in common--the late Dave Stevens, the comic book artist who created The Rocketeer and pretty much kicked off the whole Betty Page retro-pin-up craze in the 1980s. Dave passed away last year from leukemia,at the far-to-young age of 52. I wish he could have lived long enough to see Lana find justice.
