AMBER ALERT: Briant Rodriguez, Age 3

• I just woke up and the local news here (in Australia) was showing pictures of him found alive. So glad.

• This is so horrible. I was on the amber alert website and it says the amber alert for Briant has been cancelled.... Why? Have they found him? Whats going on? I am so scared for that little boy!! I heard the cartel was involved.

• The most frightening thing of all now with Amber Alerts is this;We all have to realize that the #2 crime in the world right now is due to the abduction and sale of children! I'm really shocked that it isn't discussed more so that we all deal with it faster.It should be a WORLD ALERT when a child disappears from anyplace where the law has reported it official.Why can't we get this simple task put to the leaders of the world so that there is true action against this horrid,immoral,unholy (etc..)evil on a world level?!It's NEVER a humans wish to find any child in harm, I'm just sick over the escalation & popularity of this crime. • Update: We have surveilance photos of 2 men and a vehicle believed to be involved in this case. No license plate at this time. Police spokesman is hesitant when questioned as to a motive, but it sounds like they probably have some ideas. http://cbs2.com/local/Kidnap.Suspects.San.2.1004120.html

• Yeah, some crime experts are saying that this is in no way a random event, that the family was targeted and drugs/money a possible motive. The Jesse James Hollywood case comes to mind, where a 17 yr old step-brother was kidnapped and murdered to punish a young "mule" who stole money. I sincerely hope this one doesn't end up the same way.

• Whether or not it was Mistaken Identity. There "seems" to be elements of Revenge/grudge. Exacting revenge for a theft of drugs/money perhaps. The parents are adamant that they dont know the offenders, or understand why they did it. But the father "refused to comment". (did grief/shock cause his lack of cooperation? or Guilt?) This was pretty high Risk. (the offenders chose to rob a house right across the street from a School with a patrol officer) And there are reports that they were talking to a third source. (this makes me consider that the offenders were possibly grunts acting on the commands of a HIgher Up gang/cartel Associate. ) The police NEED to Focus on the Gang/Cartel activity in the area. Also Presence of Drugs, homeless presence in the immediate area. But this dosent look like an opportunistic Crime.

• Something just doesn't feel right about this case to me. Something isn't adding up. Why would they announce, even as a bluff, that they were taking the boy to Mexico? More likely this might be a case of mistaken identity and has to do with drugs and the boy is ransom. Otherwise, I just can't see any other reason two men would ransack the house in the middle of the afternoon and take a child. One man, in the style of Duncan, coming in to grab this boy is one thing, but two men? About the walkie talkie's - a lot of cell phones (especially through Sprint) have a feature that makes them sound just like walkie talkies. I especially hear those phones being used by young men, usually hispanic, in the urban areas. I started to google red tape and red adhesive tape because it seems like an unusual tape to use. Wonder if it was grabbed from the house or brought in with them.

• I hope someone catches these Ja@#!*%#! I saw the picture of Briant and thought he was a little girl at first. I pray he is returned home safe to his family. I won't say what should happen to the perps.

The family had just been getting ready to head to the park for the afternoon. The gunmen also did this!: "During the robbery, one of the men was talking to someone on a walkie talkie, Vargas said. Millana suspected there was a man outside, but she never saw a car, Vargas said" Walkie Talkies????? WTF????? Also, the amber alert that was issued has not been placed on the b~boards...it is only out to police... because they say they don't have a vehicle description... another wtf moment for nurse..

• Local news is indicating that this may be a case of mistaken identity and the robbers could've been looking for some previous tenants. The current family had only been there two months. The mother said they tore the house up searching for something and she didn't know what. That puts a whole different slant on things and I hope they will just put the little guy out somewhere safe if they were hoping for ransom money.

• I hope they get a police sketch soon of the two suspects. Mark Klaas brought up a good point that these posters need to be printed in Spanish and they need to saturate the Latino community with them. I just have this feeling they did not take him to Mexico, mostly because they were adamant that was where they were going to take him, I think they were bluffing about that. Somehow I do not believe drugs were involved here, it just doesn't fit. I also think they may cut his hair to throw the public off. The only thing I can figure is maybe this is some kind of gang initiation. They have been known to be very brutal in what they expect their members to do to be "accepted". The fact they waited 9 hours to do the Amber Alert because they didn't have a vehicle description is just unnaceptable. Is the vehicle more important than the child??? They could ditch one vehicle in a matter of minutes and get or steal another one. A vehicle description may be worthless in this case. They lost precious time on a stupid technicality. Hopefully this will change in future cases.

• I am praying for this child. I hope he gets home safe. Just knowing he's scared and alone....GEEZ!! I would lose my mind if my son was taken like this. I just don't want to think about that...I can't think about that. :( I hope they find the POS that did this and take care of them before they are locked up. They don't deserve a jury, they just need to be dealt with vigilante style.

• Local TV quotes the mom as saying the culprits thought Briant, a beautiful child with long curls, was a girl. That leads your mind to scary places. Spanish language TV will be all over this case in S Calif and of course, in Mexico. Hopefully, cars are being checked at the border.

• This is such a strange M.O. Is it possible this has anything to do with the cartel kidnappings? Could they be holding the boy as ransom? I'm trying to imagine two hispanic males teaming up for the sole purpose of preying on children but that is a pretty specific pathology, especially when paired with home invasion and robbery. Very confusing. If they did this for profit alone they may have abducted him with the intention of trafficking him? God let's hope not.
