UPDATE
The Associated Press has reported that Alexander Deundray Draper and his mother, Jerri Gray, were found today in Maryland. They were in a laundromat when police arrived. After a check-up from paramedics, Draper was turned over to Childrens' Services and his mother arrested on a charge of violating a South Carolina custody order.

National news has been focused on the undeniably strange case of missing and cancer-stricken teen Daniel Hauser. Hauser's family was recently ordered by a judge to seek appropriate treatment for the boy's Hodgkin's Lymphoma and he and his mother promptly disappeared, perhaps to seek their "alternative treatments" elsewhere.
There's another, even stranger case out of Traveler's Rest, South Carolina - that of 14-year-old Alexander Deundray Draper. Draper and his mother, Jerri Althea Gray, have been missing since at least Tuesday. From CNN.com:
Gray was supposed to appear in family court Tuesday with her son and failed to do so, the sheriff's office said. During the family court hearing, the boy was ordered into state custody because of medical neglect, as well as his mother's failure to appear. The Department of Social Services then contacted the sheriff's office, authorities said.
"Medical neglect" in this case probably has something to do with the fact that the 14-year-old boy weighs 555 lbs.
Draper even had a MySpace at one point. He last logged in in 2006, when he would have been 11. A photo on the profile gives some indication of how heavy he already was even in middle school.
Police believe Jerri Althea Gray and Alexander Deundray Draper are traveling traveling in a white 1996 Chevrolet 1500 van with burgundy stripes, SC plate # AQZ 566. Call the Greenville County, SC sheriff's office if you have any info that might help find Draper and his mother.

Wow. It shouldn't be hard for someone to recognize a child that large.
