7 People Murdered in Brunswick, GA Trailer Park

• I agree.  I just don't see how it's possible for one person to kill 8 people and walk away with out a scratch, and with out the neighbors hearing some kind of commotion.  I have wracked my brains trying to understand how this could've went down.  So far, I haven't a clue!

• Sarah, it was not his mother who watched.  It was the mother and wife of the two men who raped the boy.  And Brunswick is not the only "drug infested" town. There are MANY like it in the world.  Also, you stated the people were on drugs.  There was no mention of drugs in this case.  You really need to get your facts straight before you go mouthing off about things you know nothing about. This is how false rumors get started.  Next time, do your homework first.

• Sarah the little boy Christopher was not killed by family memembers he was killed and raped by a neighbor along with the neighbors mom and dad. The little boy was walking home to his dads from his grandmothers which was only 2 trailors down and he was taken. I was one of the ones who helped look for this little boy. They found him a week later tossed on the side of the road in a trash bag about 2 miles or so from his home. The 3 people who raped and killed him are all being charged and I believe their trial starts soon. Thats why my kids do not go any where unless I am with them cause you never know who lives around you.

• To Big Dog: The cops were on the baech the other day cause I called them! There were smoking crack right on the beach! no..they weren't out there picking up girls. I reported!!!!!!!! If I had not, that would be the same as me allowing it. I will not turn my head and not do anything. My Mama raised me better than that.

• Brunswick is turnin into one big drug infested town. I was at the beach a few days ago there on St. Simmons and smelled pot being smoked. I reoprted them to the police. I lived in Brunswick many years so I know what I'm saying to be correct. It's getting worse and worse. Brunswick is drug infested and sadly to say, turning into a hell hole. Too bad. Folks need to stand up and help put a stop to all that. Please don't forget about that litte boy who was raped while his sorry ass Mother ( i think it was his mother) watched. His name was Christopher.He was 6 years old!! They was on drugs too. Man.... what's going on around there?? I'll tell you.. folks on drugs. God help em'.

• This is a tragedy and what makes it worse is that people are using this site to argue about things that have nothing to do with this situtation. Forget all the stupidity right now and for a moment can our thoughts be about the family that suffered this horrible crime? May the remaining family members have enough strength to get through this trying time. I know that my thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and community. • I've been to Brunswick, GA. It's where I first discovered boiled peanuts. It's a humid place with lots of trees and bugs. I say Heinze is the killer, he did it with a shotgun, and it had to do with drug sales.

• They have identified the vitims- Police identified the victims as Michelle Toler, 15; Michael Toler, 19; Russell D. Toler Jr., 20; Chrissy Toler, 22; Joseph L. West, 30; Russell D. Toler Sr., 44; Guy Heinze Sr., 45; and Brenda Gail Falagan, 49. Heinze Jr.was arrested Saturday night and faces charges of having a controlled substance and marijuana as well as evidence tampering and making false statements to a police officer. The arrest warrant stated he was in possesion of marijuana and darvocet along with tampering with evidence, removing a shotgun from the residence and placing it in the trunk of his car,so for all "The right to bear Arms" people commenting here,there was a gun in the residence and obviously did not help these victims in any way, probally because there were multiple assailants or they knew them or the individual responsible for this crime. Heinze Jr. is not being honest about where he was that night for some reason, thats where the making false statements charge comes in. Nor has he been named a suspect, but his behavior sure is suspicious.

• I do not think that the right to bear arms really had anything to do with this case. It seems like Fight for our Rights was just trying to get a reaction out of everyone. However, Purple just did the same thing. Stop generalizing. I am a Republican and listen to Rush Limbaugh and watch Fox news everyday. I have not heard anything about gun rights in regards to this case until this thread. It is offensive to have my views attacked because one person got on here and said things that were inappropriate. • I have read that the dog was chained up outside and neighbors stated that they heard the dog barking Friday night and Saturday morning, but didn't hear anything else.

• Does anyone know if there was a dog present...I read on another site..that the dispatcher said" send animal control for that address is known to have a vicious dog"....the dog could be of importance if that is a true. If the dog was inside and still alive, then it might indicate that the dog knew whoever did this and did not pose a threat to them or him...if the dog was inside and dead..then I would assume it could mean the dog was killed so they wouldnt be attacked...HOWEVER I must repeat that I do not know this for fact...I read it on another site..I want to say it was AOL's news but not positive.. I have not read this on any other news releases..but IF it were to be true it could have some importance. If there was a dog and he was chained up outside, then surely he would have been barking and I have not seen any mention of a barking dog, which would make me think if there was a dog, he was inside. So has anyone else read this? Or was it just bad reporting from another site?

I'm a fairly new resident in Brunswick, but I have complete confidence in the police force and Matt Doering. Has everyone forgotten that arrests have been made in the two other recent murders? I live 2 miles from the crime scene, and while I am more cautious I have every reason to believe the killer or killers will be brought to justice. I am very surprised that you all can point fingers and argue about things that have nothing to do with this. Do you really think that if the police weren't on the islands that anything would have been different? Would that have guaranteed that a police presence would have been at New Hope at the time this horrible crime happened? Think about what you're saying.

• Update about case from CNN today- In an anguished 911 call, a Georgia man told dispatchers that he arrived home to find "my whole family's dead." "I just got home," a man identified as Guy Heinze Jr. told the emergency dispatcher in the Saturday call, released Monday by authorities. "I was out last night. I got home just now, and everybody's dead. ... My whole family's dead. It looks like they've been beaten to death." Seven people were found dead Saturday at a residence at the New Hope mobile home park in Brunswick, Georgia, authorities said. Two others were hospitalized in critical condition; one of them, identified by police as 19-year-old Michael Toller, died Sunday. The remaining survivor remained in critical condition on Monday, police said. A neighbor of Heinze's placed the call and put him on the phone, as well as the mobile home park's maintenance man. The park manager also called 911, sobbing as she told dispatchers, "Please hurry." Police said Sunday that they have "no known suspects" in the case. "We are not looking for any known suspects," Glynn County Police Chief Matt Doering said. "That doesn't say that there are no suspects. They're just not known to us." Heinze was arrested Saturday night and faces charges of possessing a controlled substance and marijuana, as well as evidence tampering and making false statements to a police officer, Doering said. He said Heinze has been cooperative and stopped short of naming him a suspect in the deaths. "We're still looking for anybody and everybody that may be related to this," he said. "That naturally includes [Heinze]. Of course we're looking at him." "I don't know what to do, man," an emotional Heinze told the dispatcher. "My dad, my mom, my uncle, my cousin ... my dad, he's laying there dead. That was my dad." "It's a house full of people that live there," the neighbor said during the call. "I know there's a baby. I don't know if the baby was in there or not." At one point, while the maintenance man, identified only as Mike, talked to dispatchers, Heinze went into the mobile home and reported that his cousin, identified as Michael, was still breathing. Asked to describe Michael, the maintenance man said that Michael is a "young man with Down's syndrome." Heinze reported that the youth's "face is smashed in," he said. Heinze got back on the phone to talk to a supervisor, repeating that Michael was breathing, although he appeared to be having trouble breathing and needed an ambulance. The dispatcher assured him that help was on the way and tried to question him gently. "People's beat," Heinze said. "Everybody is dead." Asked what the mobile home looked like, he yelled, "It looks like a [expletive] murder scene." At the dispatcher's suggestion, Heinze tried to question Michael, asking him, "Where do you hurt?" There was no response. Doering said Sunday that police think at least one person not in custody may have information in the case. Authorities have not released the identities or ages of the other victims, revealing only that they range in age from children through mid-40s. One additional victim was identified, Doering said Monday, but did not release that person's name pending notification of relatives. Autopsies on the victims began over the weekend in Savannah, Georgia, and continued Monday, Doering said. Police had been called to the home before, Doering said, but would not say why. He was tight-lipped Sunday about many aspects of the case, refusing to say how the victims died or to give a breakdown of male and female victims. • Who ever said these people where shot, I thought they were beat to death. It takes more than one person to beat to death 9 people, including several adults without anyone being able to run out of the trailer. The neighbors have to have seen something. (Bobby Haven/The Brunswick News) Police offer reward for information in slayings Glynn County Police are offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or people connected with the murders of one or more of eight homicide victims. Nine people were found shot Saturday in a trailer at New Hope Plantation in north Glynn County. Seven were dead at the scene, and 19-year-old Michael Toler died Sunday at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah. As of Sunday night, the lone survivor of the massacre remained in critical condition at the medical center in Savannah. Glynn County Police Chief Matt Doering says the investigation was originally being conducted only by members of the Glynn County Police Department, but has now become a multi-agency investigation. Doering is encouraging anyone who might have heard or seen anything suspicious to call Silent Witness at 264-1333. Just an update, they all where shot and one of the hospitalized victims has passed away. And another report stated the person who made the discovery of the victims and made the 911 call is in custody on unrelated charges. Im not familiar with this area of Georgia, but this type of crime has drugs and some type of criminal activity written all over it. And there were nine people living in a trailer?? There is a picture of it on cnn.com, does not appear to be nice living conditions if you know what I'm getting at,its a really old trailer, looks like it should be condemed. That really does not matter because eight people are now dead, just an observation on my part.

• This is just so shocking for the little old town of Brunswick. I have been a resident for 21 years...and I never imagined anything like this to happen. It's sad this story has put us on the map and made us known. When is it going to be enough? Seriously...people need to find their soul. How could you harm a 5 year old, or anyone for that matter. • Our police department had 5 officers on the south end of the island looking for old ladies who park on the grass, I even saw a state patrol on east beach. What the heck is he doing on east beach besides looking for girls... our Chief is a duff... The only reason they arrested the guy was they are too incopatiant to follow a lead.....Its not the officers but the Chief who is a more interested in golf carts and the island than patroling the troubled areas in Bruinswick..... 5 officers on the south end what a joke ......... I saw one cop trying to give tickets to visitors when they did not stop when they did not have too... Stay off the islands and do your JOB where you need to be,, We need a real Chief one that has a brain

• 911-caller who reported the multiple slayings has been arrested on drug and false-reporting, but not murder, charges. Not murder charges yet atleast.

• Personally, we already HAVE the right to bear arms, so quit griping about it. And our Constitutional rights are not the issue here in the first place. Some people have been complaining about not having information concerning the murders released because they believe they have a right to be warned (as if a gigantic news flash about 7 murders wasn't warning enough). If you think the police aren't doing everything in their power to deal with this situation, then think again. The last thing that needs to happen is releasing too much information at once to the public which could cause greater panic (and possibly fuel the satisfaction of the killer). The police WILL release vital information as it becomes necessary. Right now their greatest priority is finding as much evidence as possible and tracking down possible suspects. I suggest that you all stop arguing and criticizing the law enforcement and instead keep the family and friends of the victims as well as the two living victims in critical condition at the hospital in your thoughts and prayers.

I have alot of friends that are Law Enforcement and i'm here to tell you that its not a pleasant job. • Instead of criticising our local law enforcement and raising all the issues both pro and con for the right to bear arms, we as a community need to stop and be thankful we have a Law Enforcement Agencey that is capable of handling such a horrific crime scene. It is not the fault of our Law Enforcement Staff that such a horrible crime has taken place. There are mean people whom have no regard for human life that has committed this crime. Our hearts and helping hands need to go out to the family members that are involved in the loss of 7 loved ones and have 2 children fighting for their lives in an out of town hospital. We should be thankful that we have both The Glynn County Sheriffs Dept and The Brunswick City Police Dept whom responded to this horrific crime scene (not by choice) but by a public servant oath to the citizens of Brunswick and Glynn County to try and keep it's citizens safe from crimes such as the above. I pray our Law Enforcement team working on this case is able to put behind bars the person or persons responsible for this senceless loss of life as quickly as possible. My heart goes out to the family members whom have lost loved ones in this crime, there are no words of comfort for them at this time I am sure. Thank you Glynn County Sheriffs Dept and The Brunswick City Police Dept for all you do every day in keeping our town and County as safe as possible. You and your staff better than anyone know what a Thankless job you have, but I am Thanking you for provoding me and my family with a safe place to live. • Matt Doerings crack police force was too busy giving out tickets to tourists on the island and getting ready to ride their new 4 wheelers around the beach and running over turtle nests while looking for handicapped people that are pulling their mobile transportation on a trailer and writing a ticket for parking in two parking spots. Yes that really happened! Hey Matt, stop running off the tourists and playing with your new beach toys and start cracking down on the drugs and gangs in our community!
