Is Phillip Garrido a Serial Killer?

• When the story first broke, there was mention of an FBI visit or at least a contact from the FBI to Dugard's mother a couple of weeks prior to the discovery of Jaycee. Has anything else about the timing of this contact come out?

• I have the same question as Anne. Do the police have DNA samples from the female bodies found in Pittsburg, CA?

• DID pHILLIP gARRIGO kill the 6 & 7 YEAR OLD CHARLES AND JENIFFER CHIA IN RENO WHEN HE WAS RELEASE. THOSE KIDS WERE KIDNAPED IN RENO IN 1989 AND WERE FOUND MURDER IN CAL.

• New creature: I completely agree, wasn't laying blame, just wondering how he went un-noticed. Of course I'm speaking from the other side of the pond and even here these cases (and child abuse, etc etc) are missed tragicly due to lack of resources. Just think this man didn't really have to "hide" anyone, and he had a parole officer visiting who didn't check the outbuildings - chatting with neighbours would've brought things to light far quicker if reports are correct (and allowing for press misreporting). Seems on top of the "blame" to be laid on the perpetrator (and I use the term loosely as I know nothing of his mental culpability), there have been a catalogue of oversights and under-achievements by organisations supposed to be monitoring this man? If he had not been a known criminal or wasn't under supervision I could understand that he may not have been uncovered.

• And uh "new creature" - fine. Blame "the system", (not enough people to handle all these perps) then let us spend our "government money gifts" to build LARGE PRISONS, LOCK THEM ALL UP AFTER THE FIRST OFFENSE AND THROW AWAY THE KEY, rather than a new skyscraper which, in comparison, doesn't seem as important, does it? Just sayin' our priorities are not in the right place.

• Why did this perp slip through the cracks? This is extremely upsetting - so many lives RUINED because law enforcement and FBI didn't follow through with their visits AND TIPS? And "I'm sorry, we could have ended this sooner"??????? "Creepy Phil" and Mrs. Crepy should never have been released to the public--N E V E R! Same old story.....let all the SO's just wander around looking for more victims....THIS HAS TO STOP NOW!!!!!! SHERIFF, FBI AND PROBATION OFFICER - YOU ALL HAVE FAILED MISERABLY...I'm sorry is not enough - please step aside and let someone capable of monitoring these people, whom you KNOW WILL RE-OFFEND!! So many red flags unnoticed and look at the wreck (you helped to continue) of these lives! Had this guy not put himself forward we would probably soon see GRANDCHILDREN, I AM SO UPSET AND DISGUSTED I SIMPLY CAN'T TYPE ANYMORE..

• I would imagine the same goes with the police force as with any other state or federal program/agengy, and the workload is beyond workable, and the workforce is overworked, understaffed and underpaid. Please don't take this comment as an excuse, but when you have 14 people doing 114 differnt things and everyone has their heads down just trying to meet quota or whatever, and the right hand doesn't have time to speak to the left, etc. You get the picture. Sometimes I wonder why we are so quick to blame everyone but the perp for the atrocities we see. We've got to become people who invent solutions, rather than simply point out the problem. Hindsight has the luxury of being 20/20.

• What I don't understand is that if he was on parole for rape, was also on the sex offender's register, and worked in the area where the bodies were found, how he DIDN'T show up on their radars originally for these murders? Saying that it's clear the policing of violent sex offenders is well under parr where they live anyway if they got away with having Jaycee for so long! It does make you wonder whether they've just found someone to clear their unfinished business for them though as surely any decent investigating force would be looking at local registered violent sexual offenders when searching for the murderer of the prostitutes - if they ever bothered looking that is (all too commonly police just wait for someone more important to get snuffed).

• That's what I was thinking. What are the chances of only two pregnancies in all those years? Garrido may have gotten rid of any male infants. I can't imagine that poor girl going through pregnancy and childbirth in those conditions. We don't all pop babies out like kittens. As for the dead prostitutes, there probably was some DNA evidence found on the bodies, right? That shouldn't be hard to follow up.

• It seems like they ought to thoroughly search the property, and use cadaver dogs, looking not just for the bodies of prostitutes, but also of infants. This poor girl may have been pregnant more than just twice.
