Police in Buena Park, CA found a body in a suitcase last Saturday. The suitcase had been stuffed in a trash receptacle. The woman inside was nude. She was 5'5" or so, had dark hair and weighed about 120 lbs.

Today she has a name. The woman in the suitcase was Jasmine Fiore, a model, former Playboy representative and a coordinator for something called the "Girls of Golf," (also associated with Playboy).

Jasmine had an older modeling profile at a site called Babe Warehouse in addition to her Model Mayhem page. On the profile she wrote, "I am a experienced model that lives in Beverly Hills And Las Vegas . I work events, and model full time. I am out going, upbeat and easy to work with. I am athletic and enjoy sports and working out. Hope to hear from you regarding upcoming projects in 2006 !!" From the Babe Warehouse page, Jasmine's name links to a website, JasmineFiore.com. The site is no longer active, but via the Internet Wayback Machine you can see what it looked like in 2005. A blurb at the top of Jasmine's site read, "From the sandy beaches of Northern California she is one the hottest new models to emerge from the West Coast. This California Girl is an exotic blend of beauty, elegance, and ferocious sex appeal. She has worked for Playboy, Hawaiian Tropic and is gearing up for some really exciting projects in the New Year. Watch out for a lot more of Jasmine Fiore in 2005."

​Jasmine had been missing from her Fairfax neighborhood home since Friday night. She'd only recently moved to LA from Las Vegas. According to her mom, Jasmine was planning on going to San Diego for a poker tournament.

What happened to Jasmine between the last time she was known to be in her Edinburgh Ave. home in West Hollywood on Friday and the discovery of her remains on Saturday? At the moment, this is the central mystery, one that may be all too familiar in Los Angeles. Mysteries like this seemed to begin with the story of the Black Dahlia, Elizabeth Short, in the 1940s. Like Jasmine Fiore, Short came to town to further star-struck ambitions. Unlike Short, it seems as though Fiore had already begun a path towards her goals. Her still-missing Mercedes is ample evidence of the same. Jasmine Fiore wasn't living hand-to-mouth.

Forensic detection, too, has come light years from the sepia-toned days of the Black Dahlia murder; hopefully there will be plenty of evidence pointing towards Jasmine Fiore's killer.
