| Police sketch of the Kansas college serial rapist |
"Reading this brought back bad memories of my last month in Lawrence, KS. I lived with two women in off-campus housing and an intruder who had been surveilling us broke in shortly after two of us left the apartment and the third had just arrived home. The police felt that the man had been watching us for some time, and it made a lot of sense.
"Our place had a sliding glass door and we used to sit inside with the curtains open and hang out. The strange thing was that we could not figure out how the person got in. They clearly came in through the unlocked glass door, as the screen had been removed. We had accidentally left it unlocked. How he got onto our third story balcony was a mystery, but the police said he could have used ropes or suction sups. Can you say CREEPY?? ...
"We received a call from the third roommate shortly after we left. She asked us if we had left the sliding glass door wide open, which of course we hadn't. We believe the intruder was in the apartment at the time. We implored her to leave right away, and she did. We went back to the unit with the police but the intruder was gone. He had taken nothing, even though we had expensive electronic equipment in plain view. We feel as though he was just "warming up". He probably broke into a lot of homes before he actually started raping.
"Since this guy has been described by the Kansas City Star as anywhere from 25-40, theoretically it could be the same guy, although that is doubtful. We all know there are many crazies out there. We had pizza delivered about a week before the incident. Apparently this had happened to other people in Lawrence, and several people report having pizza delivered a few days before the attack."
