Comment of the Day: Why Can't Police Get Their Stories Straight in the Rev. Jonathan Ayers Shooting?

• To say that these officers have done nothing wrong is crazy. They have always gotten away with things because it's their word against a drug dealer's in court. The report is finished and is going to the DA for the grand jury to examine. It will be a little more difficult for them to destroy the image and credibility of a well-liked local pastor. Especially when he was only doing what God had called him to do. Don't get me wrong, the group is doing a good job getting rid of the drugs (like meth) that pose such a danger to our community, but they need to get their priorities in order. They are an overzealous bunch of former cops that obviously need training specific to what they are doing. It doesn't take a genious to see that this shooting occurred because of poor police procedure. All of the facts of the case will come before the grand jury and should prove that this was a murder.

• rukiddnme.........sounds like a murderer that did the shooting and is trying to be a smart a__ about this whole thing. But he is right about one thing...shit happens sometimes and cops ( murderers ) will cover it up...

• Do you people honestly believe the Agents involved do not feel remorse for this incident? I am sure they are loved by their families, brothers, sisters,and their own Church also. There are eyewitness accounts of the Agents identifying themselves to Ayer's, and also they had neck badges. You people need to realize that when Ayer's hit the one agent with his car, that was assault with a deadly weapon upon an Officer of the Law, they were well within their rights to take whatever precautions necessary. For those making excuses for Ayer's being "scared", well do you not think the Agents were not scared also??? He did throw his car in reverse and run one down,has it ever crossed any of your minds that when he did so the Agents were scared for their lives? And by Ayer's acting in such a way he appeared to be running from them? and guilty of something! And all these redneck comments about "bling" mobiles and calling the agents "thugs" is bullshit, Narcotics agents do not wear identifiable "police" uniforms and more than likely will be driving their own vehicles,thats why its called"undercover"! And if we reversed the race of the agents and Ayer's, say the two Agents were white and Ayer's was black, there would not be all this crap going back and forth. And thats a fact, not to mention its in Georgia, the South where racism and prejudice still runs rabid like a disease. Talk lawsuits and murder all you want to, these agents are guilty of nothing, its just a tragedy for all parties involved, shit happens and that is the case here.

• I totally agree with this guy. Why indeed? Lots of mystery, lots of veils that are being hidden behind. The police are playing dirty in this case and hopefully the GBI will expose all and reveal all of the mysteries. Of course the world will have moved on and it'll all be swept under the rug by that point. I am furious that this happened and the THUGS that shot him should be held accountable for his life. All this young man knew was he had just got money out of an an ATM and 2 black thugs in a thugged out vehicle rolled up thug style ran at him with guns yelling at him. I'm sure he was scared to death and just wanted to remove himself from the situation. This young man was murdered, The "POLICE THUGS" should stand trial and go to prision just like any other thug that would have done the same thing. The GBI better get this one right or they might have a whole town uprising. What is the crackhead hooker saying. I'd bet my life that she has told the police that he either gave her money for food or a ride and why has that info not been released?
