No matter what this mayor did in past campaigns I hope theis type of "journalism" is roundly denounced. If the pictures were taken from his personal computer (as opposed to a city owned one) this is theft and an invasion of privacy. Laws were broken.

For the record, I, like the mayor, cross dress on occasion - although I do no not pose for pictures in my underwear. So, I am also concerned that this action feeds on the bigotry toward or misunderstandings of transgender people that still exist.

I am a medical student that lived in east clev for 3 years. Mayor Brewer is a wonderful person, but never mind all that. I used to stay in lake park tower, my car was broken into twice. Told police, they did nothing. I then saw the mayor since he lives their , told him, a week later the police staked the place out and caught the guys. I also saw him personal catch people trying to break in the lake park tower garage. no one in his position would risk themeselves like that. he doesn't get paid enought to take those risk so he must care. These pics, who cares. I don't care about his personal life just if he get the job done in which he is doing a damn good job better than any mayor i have seen.

He hasn't done much of anything. He should drive through and around his city. One street in particular "Savannah"
the empty house have been in deplorible condition for years. The previous administration, as well as his.....

I say dont judge Brewer, lets hang him like the old cowboy days. He is constantly attacking people and doing his own brand of expose' he bills himself as reformer, a good and honest man. However he is paranoid and thinks everybody that disagrees with him is crooked,stupid, and uninformed. He is the worse kind of person, father and ex-husband, and he should be exposed for the truth. It's not the pictures it's the deceit he shows by pretending to be better than he really is. You say you dont care, but he is example of what we shield our children from. Readers, unlike the various mentioned other exposing "sins," crossdressing, especially in the privacy of your own home, is NOT a sin, corruption, immoral or anything else publicly negative!....no more than say revealing a photo of someone taking a shower, or sitting on their toliet...all done in private. To mention such "photos" in the same paragraph as bribery and manslaughter is as dissimilar as humanly possible....such deeds don't even compare, and in fact such photos have no related "victims, other than the intentional misuse of such private photos which makes the Mayor the true victim here.

The real intented effect of stealing andmaking public these photos is simply to play upon the continued clear prejudice against crossdressers, and even transsexuals. Basically such tactics is VERY dirty politics, and has nothing to do with his ability to do his job as Major, or as a criteria for fitness of any job.

The only Karma question is did Major Brewer truly use such equally dirty of tactics in the past?, or did he simply expose things that the public had a DUE RIGHT to know about...things that were immoral (say having a mistress when married), illegal or corrupt practices. I didn't read of any "victimless" type exposes' that he had done in this article, so it seems not really to be of the same nature of "exposing."....just invading/exposing for public "shock value."

This is more comparable to exposing that someone is gay, Jewish, bi-racial, etc. In fact it is of even LESS importance as crossdressing is simply an ACT...not a major personal characteristic, is part-time and usually private, plus is totally legal...and even if were done in public! So it's more about pure prudjice, and Maxxattack777, reflects this strongly in their comments. What does crossdressing has to do with "kids sleeping over"??.... the GROSS assumption is that crossdressers are also by nature pedafiles!...what garabage-think!...yet this is the kind of thinking that is sought after by exposing private non-victim related photos.

Removing and distibuting them is theft of personal property (he owns the private files on his computer), invasive of his private domain/life, and a dirty tactic that has NOTHING to do with his public life, or capacity to do his job as Mayor. In fact it may in fact make him a better man nd and even Mayor! A man getting in touch with his "feminine side" often makes him more sensitive, and balanced in several personal ways.

The only "crime" here was simply the matter of poor judgement and falsely placed trust. The Mayor showed weak judgement by risking putting such photos on a computer, giving the computer in to the hands of someone else was misplaced trust, and not giving due weight to the consequences if they somehow got out of his personal possession. Photos can do a great deal more harm than any words. The positive thing is, in at least these photos, he does make a pretty decent looking woman, and actually quite more realistic than most I have seen (I wouldn't have been certain was NOT a real woman unless had read it).

BTW, such activities, like crossdressing and bondage, are not all unusual for powerful, and sometimes public figures, and often are used to counterbalance their dominant and powerful public stances and image (J.Eger Hover, FBI for one example). The real lesson here is that we, the public, expect public figures to be just that....images that fit what WE are, WE want, and WE do...even if not relevant to the job at hand. And when various predujices comes up in any form in our life decisions, and elections, we are simply using irrelevant criteria to make critical choices. And that often leads to making LESSOR good choices.

So in the end, it's the chooser, and the public, that is stuck with less optimal outcomes. For example if we choose NOT to go with the very competant Black CPA and go with the moderate ability white accountant, just based on skin color, then who loses?....you do! So what's "crossdressing activity...in private" have to do with being a good Mayor or not?...nothing at all important! But it still seems that a minor lapse of personal judgement, in an arena where "dirty politics" is the norm, it tilted the electorial outcome and that is the effective crime here.

BTW, about 6% of men crossdress to some extent, and the number of them being fathers and good people in general is the same as for non-crossdressers, so there are LOTS of crossdressers out there...and most do so in the privacy of their homes...so assuming that is correlated to anything immoral or illegal is pure BS, and clear predujice!

Most likely, East Cleaveland has lost a reasonably good Mayor, and now has his life very damaged due to thefs taking advantage of his short term lapse in personal care of his computer, and judgement about whom he can truly trust.

In this case, it seems both Brewer and the public lost a great deal. But then that's more dirty politics, and pedujice...not a crime...or Karma.

Disgusting! Nice person or not, once you make the decision to run for public office, you are very much aware that the public has entrusted you with making the best decisions for that City. Using poor judgement in your personal life can't help but reflect upon your professional life when you are a public figure. As Mayor, he should lead by way of example and nice person or not, he's of low moral character, decitful, uses poor judgement and it is his judgement that will be relied upon and may expose the entire City, and he should be able to demonstrate that he can be a role model and mentor to our youth if called upon. How many voters want him mentoring their children? If the Mayor doesn't know when to put the lace and garter belt on and when to take them off, how's he going to know when to make decisions as a Mayor? I would not want him as my Mayor.

In the privacy of his own home what he does is his business. Must have been a (friend)not who leaked the pics. Can’t trust nobody now a days. He workin the jungle print.

What Mayor Brewer said about Prior Mayor Goggins came back to haunt him !!! I dont judge him ... I just heard he took his computer in for repair and whomever repaired his computer .... Found the pictures and sold them to the highest bidder !!! God bless you, Brewer

Brewer, IMO, is a lot of hot air. He didn't bring in any of the business he said he would. The Euclid Corridor didn't benefit the city the way he said it would. True crime is down but I'd like to compare that to the dwindling population. EC is an eyesore of empty buildings and lots. His biggest claim to fame during his time as mayor is the mobile traffic cameras. They are none to popular.

Lets face it, being Mayor of EC has got to be a hard job and one with little rewards. If a person wants to to achieve any progress he/she needs to be honest and straight forward. Brewer has a long history of name calling, breaking EC's own laws (by firing Fire Dept heads and not following the city's own bi-laws), and failure to honor political promises. These pictures, and it doesn't matter how they were leaked as far as politics/public opinion are concerned, only add to a troubled image of Mr. Brewer.

For a public figure it doesn't maatter how the public finds out, once they do it's all fair game. Think he'd have learned this by now after all the celeb tapes that find themselves viewable on line.

If Mayor Brewer had of been really thinking,he would had not been so careless. My comments are not to judge, who am i to judge the morality of a man. My heart is saddened, because our forefathers fought so hard for the rights that we have today and we have a responsiblity to our children to fight that fight, for their tomorrow.

As a follow-up, and especially related to Dee Lee comments let me clarify on a few key points I alluded to in my earlier comments.

Poor Judgement- this is true to an extent, but in scope is of the minor type, not gross misjudgement. The "poor" part was in "expecting other to not voliate his computer," and personal rights of privacy. And everyone, even mayors, have SOME degree of expectations as to the level of personal privacy. Poor judgement would have raised to the level of GROSS misjudgement if say... he had them posted somewhere on the internet, or had been emailing them around to friends. Then he would have knowingly been putting his private concners out in a semi-public way, and thus that kind of misjudgement would call into his general abilities used for carrying out duties as Mayor. Comparatively speaking the two levels are like using an ATM at night (you do have such rights), to doing so when strange acting suspects are hanging around the machine, so in effect you are flirting with getting robbed. Major Brewer had no reason to expect that his computer would be searched, and private information copied, then misused.

The second thing about judgements, is NO ONE is perfect! On a daily level we make from minor misjudgements, and at times moderate to major ones...that's the course of being imperfect humans. So false expections of "perfect judgement at all times" is being misapplied here. For a more specific example, David Letterman just revealed he had numerous affairs with his staff....a MAJOR misjudgment and breach of true moral standards espcially while married, yet is he being fired from his very public job? No, yet he is beemed in to millons of viewers homes every night, and affect/reflect their, and your, sensibilities and morality....and yes he had MANY times in the past poked fun at those public figures who have been caught doing very similar mideeds.

The key difference here is only the "crossdressing" aspects. If the photos of him was of him simply "naked" then I think the general response would have been FAR DIFFERENT! You would be far harder on the THIEF who stole his private photos, and not so harsh on Brewer. So the BIG STINK is really about the fact that we have viewed a known figure in a "compromising situtation that opens him up to redicule and scorn"...and NOT about the more important concerns about computer thief issues, and the misuse of them being typcial dirty politics.

Dee Lee openned up her comments with "disgusting!" and everything that followed was based on that personal mindset. Well, that is only YOUR personal opinion, and no doubt think you have the right to evaluate and judge someone on one personal kind of self-activity. She is apparenty unable to distingish between what one finds personally repugnant, and what is the RIGHTS of others to do and pursue. I oftentimes see things that I would not choose to engage in, yet I support the rights of those other people to do them....that is a foundation of this country! So it's "not my thing".....so what?!! And what might be "off-putting" to you, maybe quite attractive or appealing to someone else! And believe me that there are plenty of people which would have these same photos either neutral in apppeal...or quite artistic, or even attractive! The reality is these photos were NEVER meant for your eyes....nor your evaluation, nor your judgements. Yet from this "disgusting" openning Dee goes on to make gross and false judgements one after the other about the general and personal character of this person, all based on clear predjuice and misattribution. And besides, who asked anyone to judge someone based on legal and private photos or activities?

Now for the gross claims Dee made, judge to use this line of false logic as a common type example. And quote:

First the two latter claims of "low moral character, decitful." By whose morals?...and who made you the judge of this? What morals are you referring to...or inventing? Who can rightfully say "crossdressing" is immoral? Mabye not for you to engage in, but in fact is fine for many other people....and many who have great morals! And besides even IF SO this wouldn't be any critical one to begin with!....say as compared to drinking and smoking. And by "decitful" what does that mean?...again Dee uses vague unexplained slams. Do you mean Brewer had some obligation to put this personal activities on his resume'? OOr announce it publicly when he ran for office? In either case...are you kidding me! By law there is still a line even in a public position (just less than for private individuals) where one has rights of privacy, and this is non-relevant to his job, and none-of-your-busness of the publics. And BTW, "decite" implies "deliberate misleading" which is quite different than simply "not revealing." Decite would be to openly claim/state you were "straight" when in fact you are "gay." Not saying either way is NOT decitful....unless you make obvious geatures/acts that is meant to imply you are straight. Brewer didn't take any public stance for or against "crossdressing" or answer questions about this before this incident, so once again Dee used an unfounded personal "slam" on his character.

-Not let's haul up the big use slanders LOVE to use....the children! NOTHING works better in dirty attacks and politics by claiming they are somehow "harming our children. And by contrast GOOD politicans are supported IF they help them instead. Dee claims "by way of example...to be a role model and mentor" to our children. Wow!...frankly there are a whole lot of politicans in office that I wouldn't wish to be a role model or mentor to MY children! By their open "lifestyle" (all "sins") and their methods used in their political activities. And really...by now the public should know that few public figures should serve as examples, role models...much less mentors. And heck...most children don't even know these poltians even exist!! Today it more likely that sports figures "try" to provide some of those functions. But in reality that is misplaced guidence, and they fall quite often to measure up to some contrived standards.

What should be the example for your children is first of all is YOU! You are the parent...not others doing your job for you! Secondly is your religious afflications, if you partake in any. Thirdly your personal extended family, and then schools. The very LAST category I would suggest is politicans of any type, although I appreciate any who appear outstanding...but I don't tell my kids to grow up and be like them!...Or like ex-Pres. Clinton, they might be in for a let down. So in this case, the real "child" lesson here, or could have been, is that you can still be a good/great Mayor, even if you don't personally approve/like eeverything they do in their personal lives. But instead, you the "supposed to be" example and mentor, have shown ppredjuice, character flaws and hate....no wonder you want someone ELSE to mentor your kids....you make a terrible example yourself, or judge on what is acceptable to others.

"Not only didn't Major Brewer offer up "crossdressing" as an example, or try to encourage this safe activity in any form to others (just a personal private activity). And intended to be private and relaxing activity, as all Americans are intitled to have whatever form of relaxation/stimulation in their homes, as long as is legal!...which this clearly is!

The key value for our children should be not to unduly judge others, their characteristics,and preferences and life choices. Nor to condemn others for simply doing things we would not personally care to partake in. And to develop our own personal set of life values, without judging others for their choices. Otherwise it's simply "bigotery" regardless of for race, religion, or personal/legal activities. All which is based on pre-judgement, and unsupported personal attributes or precieved character flaws.

In varous (diverse) gender groups I have belonged to I have known crossdressers who were in law enforcement, accounting, sales, and more...and who were fathers, and good ones at that. I have never know of any that encouraged their children to take up their part time, and often private (to their children even, especially up to a certain age) CDing activities. And still were great life role models!

Keep in mind that these photos were made for one person's eyes only....his! And not yours...so in effect you are acting as a peeping Tom who simply am using an accomplice to do the stealing for you...then you sit back and throw "s__t" bricks at them! If effect, by your comments and evaluation, you are no better than the thief who stole them...in real law that is consided "recept of stolen property" and those people should be held just as accountable as the intial thiefs. And here we have persons who also feel they have the right to sit back and evaluate the stolen property...and judge it on the basis of clear bigotery!

I truly would love to know the percentage of American homes in which we could find any porn tapes (soft or hard), BDSM items (even those furry type handcuffs in your nightstand?), bottles of booze (moderate moral points for beer, low moral ones for harder types), drugs (even weed). What about a dido for woman...or heck men devices. But let's not have too hight of morality bar here. Throw in sex body oils, feathers, whiped cream or anything else that might alter or enhance ones mental state or sense of arrousal. I would bet we could, with these types of activities knock out half of Americans! Throw in "sin" type activities as smoking or over-eating, and wow...we're probably up to over 75% of American !...and many of these "sin" type activites we "allow" do have victims which are harmed...and cost billons to government health systems!

Yet smoking, over-eating and drinking (even light drinking counts here!)...often done in public, does not seem to fit some people's criteria for "poor example" for our children. Also please let us install video cameras in your home, ALL rooms, and see if we can't at some time snap you in a compromising position....and a form of big bother for you, and to help judge you likewise.

Heaven help us!...President Obama even was videotyped drinking beer at the recent "beer summit"...and did you likewise cast stones for him doing this "example" for your children? Are you suggesting we remove him from office as well?

Comparatively speaking, referring to all the above types of "sins," some quite costly and even deadly ones at that, a little at-home crossdressing seems mild, and IS mild. Some opf the above "immoral" activities, like drinking, DO lead to deaths, including many traffic accidents. How many ill health or deaths have you found attributed to the most common forms of crossdressing? Next to none I assure you! So many people's judgement, and condemnation seems very much misplaced, and in reality is just personal bigotery, and trying to use this embrassment for political folder.

The basis comes down to "you don't like this", as shown in stolen photos so you feel self-entitled to evalute it, and then smear the character of the person being personally invaded of their privacy. And cast huge nets of unsupported judgments, when in fact what MAY be distasteful to you, truly is a minor self-activity without "other" victims. I say "live and let live" as long as no direct victims, and there are no related risks to the public, or public expense. So please don't try to CREATE victims (children and the public) when in fact there is NO CORRELATION involved, and you can NOT find any such studies....anywhere! If they exist...show it to me.

Meanwhile, please fill fill out my questionaire about YOUR lifestyle (all of the above mentioned "sin" and health concern "activities") and let me judge you...and in return by the studies I CAN present in response...my conclusions will be right...and likely you will NOT be a good example for MY children! Judge...least ye not be also JUDGED!

So Dee, thanks for being a good example of misplaced values and unfounded character attack methods. I feel sorry for your children, and perhaps we should find some more appropriate to set a truly good example, and mentor them instead of you.

As for me, I am a strong Christian believer, but have my believes tailed to what is right for me, yet allow others to enjoy life as this country allows. I do not encourage crossdressing, but I don't condemn it either. I am alos a full woman, who provides valuable services to those in far more dire of situations than any crossdressing person is in, and that is to woman in general, and to transsexuals. Hopefully there will be less judgment of innocent activities and more focus on ones that involve true crimes and real victims.

It's hard to believe that in this day and age we are debating if it's okay for a man to dress like a woman or a woman or a woman a man. It saddens me that people will not pick up their Bible and read it yet, a large percentage of Americans consider themselves Christians. God made it very clear in the book of Deuteronomy that neither sex is to dress like the other. Nevertheless, this is not the impardonable sin. I prayer for Mr. Brewer and that he will seek God for the questions of his life. And for the rest of you who commented, I pray that you will seek the Bible for yourself. Yes, the Bible tells us not to judge but it refers to judging people for the same sins you do. There are other parts of the Bible that tell us to judge sin. God loves the sinner but he hates sin and if you are caught up in a sin today, ask Jesus into your heart that you may have eternal life and experience his abundant life now on this earth.(John 3:16) But remember that Romans 6:23 tells us "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. @Marie: The foundation of your country was not built on religion (believe it or not). I should rephrase that actually. It was not built on the kind of religion you yourself practise today.

Politics and religion were (and are) to remain separate. The idea that you (and so many of your countrymen/women) would try and use religion to back up statements of a political nature is extremely frustrating. You just don't get it.
