James Looney Shoots Himself in the Head... While Teaching His Girlfriend About Firearms Safety

​As a general rule, we here at True Crime tend to advise against teaching firearms safety by placing a loaded gun to your head. But James Looney of Imperial, Missouri enjoys pioneering new methods of instruction...


Before he'd take his girlfriend to the shooting range, he insisted on providing her with his own unique brand of training, according to Chad Garrison at our sister site, Riverfront Times. So he placed two different guns to his head and asked his sweetheart if they would go off.

Given that Looney shot himself in the head, she concluded that the correct answer was yes. He died the next day at the hospital, forcing the cancellation of further training sessions.
