Pedophile politician's $150,000 bribery scheme
| Joshua Barnes, his third escape in a year |
Joshua Duane Barnes was last seen on the 7th floor of a prison hospital, where he'd been transferred after getting his ass kicked in a fight. Fifteen minutes later, he was gone.
Guards in Galveston, Texas found that a vent had been pulled out and that there was a hole in the wall. Barnes apparently then busted through thick glass and, using bed sheets tied together, repelled down the side of the building to a roof below, where he jumped into a parking lot...

It marked the third escape for Barnes, 21, who only began serving a 35-year-sentence in January for a string of burglaries and assault. He'd already escaped once from a Potter County court while being tried for burglary, and from the same county's detention center a few months later.
But while he may have a gift for escaping, he also has a gift for getting caught. The last two times he was found in an Amarillo hotel room. Maybe detectives should just buy themselves some coffee, hang out in the parking lot, and wait for him to show up.
UPDATE: Joshua Barnes is quite accomplished in the art of escape, but he could use extra tutoring when it comes to living on the lam.
After escaping from a Galveston prison hospital, Barnes made his way to Dallas, where he snuck into the home of Michelle Cox, threw her to the ground, and said he would kill her if she talked. Unfortunately, he also told Cox he was hiding from police, which helped narrow the search for the intruder.
He locked her in the bathroom, swiped some clothes, grabbed her money and took off in her car, which was then abandoned at a nearby grocery.
But police in Irving soon received a call concerning a man behaving suspiciously in a park. When they arrived, Barnes bolted for a vacant house and barricaded himself inside. Alas, a guy with no gun wearing women's clothes does not a good barricade make.
He's now facing felony escape charges, not to mention all the smaller shots he'll take for breaking into Cox's home. And this time, say Texas prison officials, he'll be spending his days in maximum security.
