Thomas Haggie, who rented the room in the Riddell House, Greggory Theobald of Elmira, New York have been charged with murdering the 21-year-old pregnant woman. Police learned of the slaying after Haggie called Megan's sister in San Bernadino and sent her two graphic pictures via cell phone of the victim. The sister then called police.
UPDATE: As more details emerge, the murder of Megan Konopka just gets more gruesome -- and stupid. Police say Greggory Theobald has confessed to killing her along with Thomas Haggie. And the sheer worthlessness of the crime is breathtaking.
Investigators first learned of the incident Sunday night, when Shanae Sharpsteen of California called Bradford police. She'd received a call from Haggie, who'd dated her sister Megan. Haggie told her that he'd "killed a girl last night in his apartment in Bradford." Then he sent her two cell phone pictures of the grisly murder scene...
Police thought the background images in the pictures resembled the Riddell House, a rooming house in Bradford. When they entered Haggie's room, they found Megan's body. She was in her third trimester of pregnancy.
After Theobald was arrested, he confessed they killed Megan to prevent her from testifying against them, though reports don't indicate what case he was talking about. There doesn't appear to be pending charges against either man in Pennsylvania.
Theobald says he and Haggie tried to strangle Megan, but she didn't die. Then they slit her throat but she still didn't die, so they "inserted a metal object into her throat to ensure she was dead," according to court records.
Theobald also led police to the place they dumped the knife.
It was not Megan's sister. It was the sister of someone Thomas used to date.

His 2 daughters are way more intellegent than he is. He threatned to kill us and burn down our house. he threatened to burn down the house of the DA in our town. he DID burn down 2 house's that I know of, and he never got caught. His entire family is absoultly NO GOOD. Our family has had to leave the state we lived in because of him. I hope they put him away forever. this has been a 12 year hell for us and many other familys who have had to deal with not only him but his whole family. please pray for us and the other family he has harmed. he deserves death, as is recorded at the end of Romans 8 in the bible.

I know that other members of his family had run-ins with the law, but that doesn't mean his whole family is trouble. The last time I saw Thomas was about twelve years ago, and I understand that a lot changes with time. I also know he wasn't the most stable person in the world, and nobody ever gave him any kind of chance. Of course my sympathies go to the family of the deceased, I know this is a horrible crime and he does deserve whatever punishment is given to him. Still, I can't help but feel sorry for him and wonder what might have happened had somebody offered to help him back when he was seventeen, when it could have actually made a difference. By the way, Mr. Jones, did you used to live by Hesperia High School? I almost think I remember him and your daughter getting together before my family moved.

Personally, I think that they deserve much more, but I won't go into gruesome detail about what I would like to do to them... I'm sure when the other inmates find out why they're in prison, these men will get what they deserve.

Just like the girl who was murdered was the daughter and the sister to a family . When you call the family such names as white trash its so wrong. Thomas comes from a family who has some rough times. I am Thomas's aunt. To hear such hatred written from so called hearts on this article is so tragic. It is extremely sad that people with all of the knowledge about mental illness out there now, can still call horrific names to these men. Weren't u taught as children not to name call. They will face God one day and only He knows what happened. I have believed since I was a child that some people brains are wired wrong and today scientist have proven it to b so. Mental illness is a very large part of the millons on earth. THINK! Would u choose to b a murderer, rapist,gay or lesbion. What a differcult life it must b. Mental illness has so many avenues. One more bit of info, my sister is the kindest, caring most loving person i know who most of her marriage, worked two and sometimes three jobs to support her children and other. He was a selfish, self-centered person and kidnapped her children. She had no idea for years where they were and when she found them she had no money to bring them home. When 2 became adults they knew where love and caring were waiting for them and they returned to their mom. I watched many years of suffering for wanting her children back. The father who knew about his illness never brought him to be treated professionally and his mother just found out about it. So u people who 's self and families are perfect in the eyes of God, stand up.

We Haggies, and Reeds are very much educated, my dad is 74, and he did his best to raise 6 boys and one girl, and did a dam good job. I am personaly angry and disappointed in Thomas's judgement. But Thomas is my brother, and he is still family and has children, and nieces, nephews, a mother, father, sister, and brothers. I dont have the words appropiate to even apologize to the victims family. I personnaly again, feel alot of sadness, anger, and so many emotions that can even be explained, but have to still raise and maintain a solid foundation for my own children.

I didn't even know this girl, but my aunt was stabbed to death by two creeps for her car so i know how it feels to go through something like this. My heart goes out to her family. This hurt will never go away, you just have to learn how to deal with it and not let your life stop because of it. It is very hard, i lost my aunt 20 years ago and still feels like it happened yesterday, i live with the nonsense of the whole thing every day. God Bless your family! Those bastards should rot in hell, but the appeals will never stop. The guys that stabbed my aunt to death are still appealing after 20 years, it's bullshit, but that's our court system for you...

I bet 80% of you people on here don't even know who Thomas or his family is. The way Thomas' father chose to raise his children, is his own choice, who are you to analyze his parenting skills. As I said before, they DID NOT whisper into Thomas' ear and tell him to do it. He is a grown man, and he made his own decision, no one else did that for him. His family does not harass me, nor would they have any intentions on doing that. I do not blame them for what Thomas chose to do. I am glad you got out, and did not end up like this poor woman and her baby. Thomas will be haunted by her memory everyday of his life, and he will have to deal with what comes his way. AND! So will Theobald. As of right now, Theobald has been sentenced to 2 consecutive life terms in prison, where he belongs.
Again, please, if you have something to say about the family, just don't. They do not condone, nor do they make the choices that Thomas had made.
