An interesting series of news clips put together by Right-Wing Watch, showing the propaganda being thrown at the Census Bureau. This may be why some workers are facing such hostility when they go door-to-door, where residents actually believe they're a front for Acorn. But as the video closes with a brief parody, you'll notice that the Census is expressly written into the Constitution.

Wow, I'm Canadian and we have a census, that doesn't mean they're going to round us up and lock us away. We have health care, census, national ID cards, none of our citizens have been harassed or sent away to death camps that I know of...
Posted 09/26/2009 at 05:58:24 PMMany historians would argue that the root cause of this anti-government paranoia has to do with white supremacy in the U.S. The last time the federal "guv'mint" came in and systematically took away "personal property" was when they emancipated African Americans from slavery. Now we have a black man for President. Do the math.
We are so eager and desperate to declare an end to racism in America that we keep missing the elephant in the room. But corporate media talking heads, acting on basic self-interest of wanting unlimited corporate exploitation of human and natural resources, sees and uses this elephant. When are We the People going to turn the table? Have we forgotten about how many lives Enron and Shell have destroyed? Let's stop whining about how sinister Fox News is, stop looking to the President to shoulder all the RESPONSIBILITY for bringing about change, and start our own course action!
