Neighbors Who See Stabbing Kick Ass
"Welcome to Port St. Lucie! Violent Crime Is Up 14.4%"

If you ask Chamber of Commerce types, this is not the kind of slogan you use to sell your city. But the city fathers of St. Lucie, Florida don't have muc
h say in the matter.
The local police union threw the sign up after word swept through city hall that the department might lay off eight officers and 12 office employees. This doesn't sit well with our men in blue, who say they're already short-handed.
The midnight shift now has but 12-15 cops patrolling a city of 150,000, which leaves less than one cop to police 10,000 people. Not exactly your ideal crime fighting ratio, but a very nice figure if you're currently planning a B&E in Fort Lucie.
