Heather Sherba, who was shot in the leg during George Sodini's murderous rampage through an LA Fitness gym in Pittsburgh, has no job or health insurance. And at age 22, she's too old to still be carried by her parents. So she's been forced to resort to that time-honored way of raising money: a car wash.
Maybe it is time for a public health care option after all?

They should sell off that creep's personal belongings, he won't need them in jail anyway. Let her have the money to pay for the surgery she needs. Civil suit his ass into bankruptcy.

You might want to read up on the original story this is referring to seeing as George Sodini is dead and all.
Anyways, I feel for this young lady, and I really wish we did have public health care as the private option is not working.
Posted 09/02/2009 at 04:41:58 PMhow about sending the bill to the nra, for this and all gun violence in this country. bankrupt them and maybe we'll stand a chance at getting a handle on our culture again.
Posted 09/03/2009 at 01:06:09 PMI hope she gets the treatments she needs. All of her energy needs to be on getting well. We really do need to look again at health care delivery in this country,
Posted 09/04/2009 at 04:51:27 PMWe need HR-676 a single-payer. I see private insurance with public option as a giant step from where we are at. Every other first world democracy sees access to healthcare as a basic human right. I'm not talking about "I want a plasma TV, big house, Mercedes Benz." It is outrageous that Heather has to pay for injuries that are not an accident. Th richest nation on the planet.
How can anybody oppose universal healthcare? Many cancer patients start their cancer journey having insurance, but because they can't work they can't keep up the premuims and lose their insurance.
I am REALLY appalled at what happened to volunteers that responded to the 9-11 attack. They got sick, become unable to work, so they lost their insurance. The government refused to cover those who put their life on the line to aid with the World Trade Center.
A-For-Da-Ble Health' will save our economy,
Posted 09/13/2009 at 06:50:43 PMit is in the best interest of everybody,
if every job moves out of the country,
than (tell me) whose gonna pay the medical fee?
One reason we are in this recession is because in order for an employer to offer the insurance benefit he has to charge more for his products; so customers find more cost effective to buy oversea.
