Man blames girlfriend's threesome for murder

| Todd English, assault by luxury watch |
The big problem is he did it just a week before their wedding, scheduled to be a $150,000 affair at New York's St. Regis Hotel. Though reports say they'd fought over a prenuptial agreement, English told People their relationship had become "volatile and vicious."
Naturally, fiance Erica Wang wasn't pleased by being left at the altar just a week before the big day. So she reportedly smacked English with a luxury Copard watch, a blow that left English with seven stitches. But instead of just manning up, English had assault charges filed against her. Which once again proves that while fame and fortune may be nice, it will also turn you into a huge candy-ass.

Why is he a candy ass for pressing assault charges? If he'd been the one to hit her, he'd be arrested! I'm really tired of double standards and you are feeding into that. Crum, he received 7 stitches. That is not an insignificant injury.
Posted 10/17/2009 at 10:23:00 PMWhy is it that a man is supposed to 'toughen up' and accept physical abuse from a woman with a smile? Why should any man be criticized for going to the authorities and reporting the abuse?
What, exactly are a man's options?
As far as I can tell he can: take the physical assault 'like a man' and grin and bear it, or return the abuse in spades, or go to the authorities and report the incident.
Not knowing the stats (and such statistics would be terribly hard to come by), I am still certain that there are cases, probably even some reported on this website, where a man has been assaulted by a 'significant other' and either beat the tar out of the woman or outright murdered her.
There are more instances than we would like to admit of women physically abusing the men with whom they share a relationship. Men should not be ridiculed for reporting such abuse. For some reason, I doubt this is the first time it's happened in their relationship. After all, it is said that men do not hit a woman once and then quit, never to again raise their fist.
Finally, kudos to the cook for canceling this marriage. It is far better to call it off a week before the contract is signed than to go thru with it for form's sake only to then try to make it work for the next few years and then end with a divorce and kids and money spent on lawyers and the rest of the fun that goes along with that. Judging her reaction, that is proof he made the correct call - much better than the 'candy-ass' call above...
Posted 10/18/2009 at 03:04:32 AMMaybe if we just start beating kids until they need stitches they will learn to take a hit like a man. (if you can't tell, i'm being sarcastic)
Frankly, he's more a man than whoever called him a candy-ass. It would take more self control than many people i know when hit (that requires stitches) not to strike back and instead take the honorable route.
Seriously, wtf is wrong with you?

You mean Altar
Posted 10/18/2009 at 04:08:14 AMAmazes me how many reporters, writers, journalists can't spell. Geeze....Seriously, perhaps some schooling before trying to take the world by storm? Or spell check or an editor...
It's attitudes like yours that keep men from reporting abuse. It happens both ways, and she deserves the SAME kind of punishment that a man would get hitting a woman. Violence is NEVER the answer.
I'm disgusted by that statement you made. Shame on you!
Posted 10/18/2009 at 04:26:54 AMIn this case, I think the man was right to report the abuse. Seven stitches is a pretty serious hit.
Posted 10/18/2009 at 08:55:12 PMI certainly agree with the comments posted here. So it's okay for his ex-fiance to assault him and get a slap on the wrist from an obviously idiotic judge when she should be sent to jail for her actions?
Posted 01/14/2010 at 09:23:42 PMTo the guy who wrote this article, do you think that the judge would be as sympathetic if Todd had been the one who assaulted Erica with the watch and given her a black eye instead? He would most likely be sent to jail and vilified in the media like Chris Brown if that were the case. Violence in relationships is still violence regardless of which gender inflicts it so we need to stop with the double standards.
I believe the report said "their relationship had become volatile and vicious." Violence towards another person is not the answer. If she had been smart, she could have sued him for breech of promise. Instead of hitting him in the face, I would have hit him were it would hurt him the most in his wallet.
Good reporting Pete
