Comment of the Day: Morgan Harrington's Friends Either Know Something, or They're Self-Absorbed

• Our country has a long history of protecting individual freedoms. Organized criminals on an international level would like to changge our laws to make it easier to coerce and control people. Basically, they want to murder people without guns. The first step is to convince us that our rights are worth sacrificing to protect us. This is similar to the "mob protecton racket" where you "kept your mouth shut about what you see" and stayed alive. 241,.... 241... maybe code speak, but it's actually a law that protects us all from organized criminal conduct aimed at suppressing our rights. 18 USC 241. Conspiracy against rights How Current is This? If two or more persons conspire to injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or because of his having so exercised the same; or If two or more persons go in disguise on the highway, or on the premises of another, with intent to prevent or hinder his free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege so secured— They shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and if death results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, they shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death.

• There's a certain segment of our society that would find it easy to believe that civil liberties place us at too much risk. From their vantage point it appears as if "our laws don't work" and we should change what we call "individual rights" to some system of merit where people earn their rights. These folks were easily convinced after 9/11 that our law enforcement, spie agencies, and anyone claiming to be fighting terrorism should be allowed to violate the rights of American citizens, peak into you lives, place you on a don't fly list. Nothing could be further from the truth. When crime involves family members, children, and innocent people they are easily convinced that our "rights are the enemey." Oh, how the elite love to manipulate logic of people so easily deceived. If you were set out to convince the American people that our government should be able to violate our individual rights to protect us how would you convince them? Would the events of 9/11 convince them? If you were set out to change the laws so that vigilante justice was an acceptable form of policing bad people how would you convince them? Would the deaths, random shootings, and abduction of children convince them? Does anyone have the power to do this? Does organized crime have a new goal of control? Did this system come from countries like Russia who practiced this type of coercion for decades? Read 18 USC Title 2-4-1 The title of it is Conspiracy against Civil Rights Morgan was a children rights advocate. Her father is associate dean at VA Tech in psych dept. VA Tech was the sight of a mass killing and another murder by beheading. The circumstances, reaction of friends, failure to produce security footage are all very odd.

• I'm more intent to believe that the way she was dress had nothing to do with it.It was dark,she was probably a little intoxicated and walking like she was confused and she was alone..someone saw this and looked around and saw that there was no one else around and took advantage of the situation. She did make some very bad choices,by not going to her car and waiting for her friends to get out of the concert and by getting on a bridge and hitchhiking..when we all have heard about all the girls and women who have been kidnapped or is still missing in the last year!All of them girls are smart enough to know, not to put yourself in dangerous situations.I'm not saying she deserved what happened to her,but she did put herself in a very vulnerable position.I truly believe this whole thing could have been avoided.Its to bad she felt like she could make it home by herself in her state of mind and didn't call anyone to come get her..She probably thought she would disappoint whoever she called and chose not to!!

• All the cable press conference today (re HLN) showed was the lead investigator yammering away @ how the killer of Morgan must have known the area...we know that. Any other info? Sorry if this sounds cruel, but the statements made by Dr. Dan Harrington and Gil have been peculiar at best. The friends aren't talking-interesting-...Dr.Dan was a psychiatrist, has control of her bank accounts, computer info, and absolutely convinced that Morgan didn't have a boyfriend. Gil vascillates b/w "sharing the air" with Morgan's friends and "her empty orbital lobes." The brother is abit odd/mute. She was inebriated/had blood on her chin(no comment from Dan/Gil..Was Dr. Dan presribing? Where was he at the time-maybe he celled her, and maybe the friends knew something re the "situation." Sorry-but noone has brought up even where Dan was, and the rest of the family acts medicated-for lack of a better word. God bless Morgan,,,, all of you know it wouldn't be the first time something akin to this has happened. Thank You.

• Listen folks, everyone keeps trying to paint this as an innocent situation which it is not. It was an aweful tragedy and she did not deserve to be killed, but there are some people really negligent here. Her friends kept quiet because there is more to this story which they are hiding. Her friends, probably drunk or on drugs, made bad decisions not to come outside and get her. Also, the Metallica hired security is liable for wrongful death. The saying "241" is contrived and has double meanings. There's more going on here than meets the eye. It's likely that she expired in the field, but not far from where there was a struggle. It may be a "party house" which she willingly went. Afterwards, the person(s) responsible for her death deposited her cell phone and bag in the RV lot and provided false reports of her hitchhiking. These young kids get "twisted" - meaning drugs, alcohol, group sex nowadays. It's a reality and really a tragedy that speaks about the generation.

• I don't really care how she was dressed or if she was drunk. This was a HUMAN BEING THAT WAS SNUFFED OUT and didn't want or ask to be. A predator took her life and had no right to do so. Being buzzed or disoriented would certainly take anyone off of their game but at the end of the day the only person to blame here is the predator that took her away from her family. I think it sucks her friends didn't meet her at the door and give her the keys to her car, I think it sucks she wasn't allowed re-entry, I think it sucks she was left alone in a field like a piece of garbage but she didn't ask for any of this. Everyone makes poor choices in their life on a daily basis but do they deserve to die for it? How about the little kids that are taken right off their own streets walking home from a friends house...is it the girls fault for walking home alone, is it her mom's fault for not walking with her, the neighbors fault for not noticing her walking home.....no, it's the predator's fault, stop victimizing the victims. Dressed like a hooker? Really? What if she flat out was a hooker...is it ok she was killed and left alone in a field? Lucy, you have a lot to learn.

• I really don't know for sure if Morgan was drinking or not. Has that assertion been proved? Sure, if she was drinking, of course that could have, likely would have, contributed to her demise. It's more the tone of comments about the girl being "drunk and dressed like a hooker" that are not necessary. The nasty, condescending comparison of this unfortunate young girl to a HOOKER lacks tact. And unless you know she was drunk, don't say she was "drunk and dressed like a hooker" without expecting some sort of unfavorable backlash, even though you are entitled to your own opinion of her "style of dress". Have some respect; her friends and family read these boards. Try expressing your opinion on her accountability without completely disrespecting the departed (to Lucy/her fan/who are one and the same person).

• Let me say first: no one deserves what happened to Morgan. If someone did kill her, may they rot in hell. That is yet to be determined if the cause of death was in fact a homicide. The ME will tell us. That said: Lucy is just stating the obvious. Does NO ONE agree that underaged drinking (and the careless behavior that comes with that) at least CONTRIBUTED to what happened? If you can't, then you are in some serious denial. There have definitely been some "spin doctors" in on this case and not just on the side of UVA. . . .

• Lucy, Morgan's mother said she was upset about some of the remarks made on these posts. I certainly hope she does not see yours. Such harshness is uncalled for in light of the fact that this beautiful young girl is never coming back to her family that loved her. It is not her fault that a pervert was lurking and took her life!

• tcaros, People like you are the main problem with the world today! It's always everybody elses fault! Never blame the poor perfect sweet kids! Nothing is ever their fault. Right? So you are saying that everyone who saw this girl should be sued, cause it' THEIR fault she made stupid choices! The band is to blame cause they have rules and DARED to follow them! Right? That is what you are saying right? Blame everyone but the kid cause she it is not her fault she was drunk and left the arena, it was someones elses fault she was drunk too right? OH please! SHE is to blame too! She was drunk and dressed like a hooker! She made bad choices! Kids that age think they are invinceable and nothing will ever happen to them. They think they know it all. Well, she paid the price, but it should show kids that it CAN happen to you.

This is an aweful trajedy, but some people seem to think we couldn't have prevented it. Metallica is being sypathetic, but I wonder if it's just covering their own liability in a way. Yes, there are evil people and there always will be even if we find every one of them. As in the case of Natelie Holloway the drinking and partying exposed her to danger. That's not the reason for it (don't get defensive- call it what it is), but it sure made it easier for some sick person. They never even searched the shipping containers- the most likely way to get her body off the island which was a finite area to search. The Metallica hired security put her at risk by not allowing her to re-enter. With all the cameras they have, they don't produce any footage. Is the footage lost or erased? Someoene has to level on this. In the case of Adam Walsh the security guard at a Sears store put him at risk. Didn't the security guard think "wait, he's too young to be by himself maybe I should find out where his parents are?" We don't know yet the full details since the coroner is till mum. I would pressure them for details soon. I suspect someone is protecting someone or a reputation of somoeone in this unsolved mystery. Also, there are reports of UVA basketball players and a witness who saw Morgan talking to a group of men. How come we don't have the names of the last people to see her alive?

• My heart goes out to Morgan's family & friends. May they find comfort in the Lord. I have a daughter that goes to UVA, and when she's away from home, I worry about her. Because of perverts (now murderers)like those that took Morgan. I think whoever took Morgan is from the Charlottesville area and I think they knew the farm and knew that the owner or anyone else went out onto that part of the farm very often. I say they because I believe that there is more than one. I think they got in through the gate below the house, because it is probably never locked, they could have used a gator or horses or a 4 wheeler or ect... but I don't think they carried her that far. It was most likely late at night when they were sure the farmer was asleep. I believe they know the farmer and his land and where to leave the body so that it wouldn't be found right away. This is just another hypothesis. I don't care if Morgan was drunk, a dope head, a slut or whatever, No One had the right to take her life. However, I do believe that the persons responsible should be punished to the fullest extent of the Law, there is one thing for sure if they don't pay in this world they will in the hereafter, Thank God.

• It is my belief Morgan tried to hitch a ride, got in a car/pickup truck with the wrong guy(s), and it was an assault gone bad. I had a simialr experience, the guy took me to a field (I had been drinking) but thankfully he wasn't violent. Yes, her friends should have looked out for her much more than they did, the parents should have jumped on the police sooner, but I beieve she died within hours of last being seen. It was a guy in his late 20s, early 30s (possibly drinking also), and he decided to have some fun with a gal in a miniskirt. She sobered a little later on during the ride, threatened to report him, and a hard fist to the head ended it. My theory. A good 'ol boy(maybe possibly a college student) meant some harm here.

• Look it doesn't matter now! If the body they found was indeed Morgan then as a father my heart goes out to their family. Do kids do stupid things? SURE, we ALL did but it still doesn't give ANYONE the right to take her life. I read somewhere that kids that age think everyone is their friend and I must say I agree with that. WHO knows what really happened? Could Morgan have wanted to do something either her friends wouldn't approve of or she knew they didn't want to do? SURE... Could it have been with someone she knew? SURE... My feeling is that it was with someone she didn't know... why would they leave her purse and phone in the parking lot? Makes NO sense. Kid's do dumb things and 99.9 percent of the time it doesn't come to this but this is the .01 percent that a parent lives in fear with EVERYDAY... Right now it's the NOT knowing that's the hardest part and I certainly hope whoever is responsible is caught but again my gut tells me it's more than one person. God Bless Family... My heart is with you!

• I see in today's paper that they think the remains found in a remote farm field about 10 miles from where the Metallica concert was held may be those of 20 year old Morgan Harrington. I am so sorry to hear that. I had prayed for her safe return.

• Something is very fishy about this missing girl. Her mom portrays her as naive but from what others seeing her have said it doesn't seem so. Why didn't her friends call her parents when she went missing? Was she high or drunk when she left the arena, was she planning to meet someone? If she fell down, why didn't she seek help? I just can't believe her friends didn't worry & wonder why she left the arena? The whole scenario doesn't make sense.

• In my experience, if you are with a group, you do not leave one another unless it has been planned. Even if you run into other friends at the venue, it is very atypical to leave the people you rode with. As a female, a kiss on the cheek represents to me a more than brief separation, as though they knew that Morgan would not be re-joining them that night (i.e. she had plans to be with someone else during the concert). And to leave immediately prior to your preferred band's performance? Out of the question. Also, if one of my friends was separated from the group and we knew it, one of us would go after the separated one, or we would all go together, ESPECIALLY if she was stranded outside the concert arena. She would get back in or we would all miss the concert. These girls' known behavior makes no sense to me and the lack of info and updates from authorities is frustrating. The handling of this case feels very lackadaisical to me.

• Just wondering, have they checked the Harrisonburg area at all? Maybe she mananged to get back to JMU.It's not inconcievable.

• Price - I'm w/ you. They prob partied at JMU first then on to the concert for more of the same. Anybody interview JMU students? maybe she agreed to meet someone at the concert that she had met earlier in the evening?

• Ok, this is what happened in my theory based on my investigation and evidence following this case closely for the past week: 1. Morgan was inside the arena taking pics on her cell(why don't they disclose these pics to the media?) 2. She either got high with her friends(which would explain why they are not coming clean)or she went off from her friends and got high with someone else in another location of the arena. 3.She was witnessed in a hallway leading to the seating areas and under the influence by two concert goers. She fell and broke her nose right in front of these two and when helped her and asked if ok, she didn't respond and left the area. 4. She no longer was having a good time, and without thinking rationally just wanted to go. She may have stopped at a bathroom to judge her appearance in the mirror before deciding to leave.Someone would have seen her there. 5. Not wanting to ruin the show for her friends she called them outside the arena and either said she wasn't coming back or she couldn't get back in (possibly changing her mind after not being able to get into the car she came in) 6. Someone in the lot had viewed her alone and in her influenced vulnerable state. That someone was also there for a reason,possibly an attendant or scalper etc., Offered her assistance and did what he did to her. Far fetched? no,because the media will withhold this type of info to make her look as innocent and perfect as possible to keep the interest of the public in order to help find her. Why did her friends not help her? only they can answer that because they should have left when they found out she was no longer inside the arena and helped her.
