Is science rage a new phenomenon?
First there was Annie Le, now this: UCLA student Damon Thompson has been charged with slashing the throat and repeatedly stabbing a female student in the chemistry lab at tony UCLA.

Witnesses say Thompson, 20, sliced the woman's throat and appeared to be punching her during the attack, though they may have mistaken that for a stabbing motion. No one seems to know what prompted the attack, or what the beef may have been. The woman, so far unnamed, is in stable condition...

A hyper-anal coworker at Yale is charged with strangling Annie Le
Both students were seniors taking an organic chemistry class. Witnesses saw the woman stagger into the hall covered in blood as a teaching assistant applied pressure to her neck.

The news comes only a few days after Raymond Clark pleaded not guilty to the strangulation of grad student Annie Le in a  Yale laboratory. And it arrives only a few weeks after another science grad student, Brian Benedict of UC-Irvine, gunned down his ex-wife in front of his 4-year-old boy. Is there something about the stress of scientific work that's making people snap.
