Matthew Hess Charged with Raping 12-Year-Old Daughter Keara

​You always knew there was more to this case than meets the eye. Two weeks ago, Matthew Hess left a message with his estranged wife saying he was taking their two adopted daughters to school, then running some errands. That's when he disappeared with daughters Sierra, 11, and Keara, 12.

Police in Mooresville, North Carolina launched a manhunt for the family. Keara was nine months pregnant and due to deliver any day. (See original story here.) But dad hadn't taken her to a doctor's appointment before they went missing. And Keara had refused to name the father of the baby. None of this seemed right.

They were found last week in Tennessee when a motorist recognized the truck they were driving. Matthew was charged with misdemeanor child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. At the time, police said both charges related to his failure to get Keara medical attention. But if you believe the latest charges, we now know our original suspicions where correct...

​Police have issued felony warrants against Hess for indecent liberties with a child, first-degree rape, and felony incest. They won't say who the victim is, but after secreting his daughters away on a weeklong flight, we don't think it's too hard to guess.
