Yair Anthony Carrillo was kidnapped by a fake immigration officer
UPDATE: Tammy Renee Silas apparently spent months preparing for the kidnapping. See latest story here...

The woman arrived in a black four-door that looked like a police car. She was blond, 30-something, and heavy-set. She said she was from immigration and had arrived at the Nashville home to take Yair Anthony Carrillo, who was just four days old.

But Yair's mother, Maria Gurrolla, would have none of this. So the fake immigration officer stabbed her 8 times and took off with the child.

Mom is now hospitalized, and police in Tennessee have issued an Amber Alert for the missing newborn. The baby's abductor is described as about 5-foot-4 and wears her hair pulled back. New York police have already detained Lisa Simpson, who they describe as a person of interest in the case. But left unexplained is how she may be involved in a kidnapping in Nashville. More important, detectives didn't find Yair with her. The baby is believed to be in danger...

UPDATE I: Police believe this is a kidnapping-by-stranger incident.

Neighbor Eric Peterson responded to the banging at his door to find a woman covered in blood. Yair's mom, Maria Gurrolla, had been stabbed in the chest and neck. Her lung had collapsed. The fake INS agent had used a knife from Maria's own kitchen.

She asked Peterson to go next door and rescue her baby. He let his pit bull in first to see if the home was safe. But he only found Maria's three-year-old. Newborn Yair was gone.

Contrary to initial reports, Peterson say the kidnapper got away in a gray 2-door Honda, rather than a black sedan. Police seem fairly sure the abduction was conducted by someone unknown to the family. Surveillance tapes from Wal-Mart, where Maria shopped earlier in the day, indicate that a car followed her out of the parking lot, though this could be mere coincidence. There's also been speculation that she was targeted for the "It's a Boy" sign in her front yard, a popular way of announcing births in Nashville.

Yesterday, police picked up 30-year-old Lisa Simpson for questioning in Buffalo, New York, but found she wasn't involved in the case. The at leaves investigators with only the basic description from Yair, and a very large country in which to search through.

UPDATE II: A suspicious car followed Maria Gurrolla in and out of Wal-Mart on the day of the abduction.

The car was a dark-colored Kia Spectra. Here's a statement from Nashville police:

"The car entered the parking lot at about the same time as Yair and his mother, Maria Gurrolla. The Kia parked near Gurrolla's car. The driver never got out, but followed Gurrolla's car out of the parking lot and onto Nolensville Road. Surveillance video showed one person was in the Kia, which appears to have an out of state license plate. Efforts are underway to learn the identity of the driver, who is being sought at this point as a witness."
