The Bare Naked Burglar of Slidell, Louisiana
Police have caught the infamous bare naked burglar. See update after the jump...![]()
Without the burden of clothes, the Bare Naked Burglar was able to enhance his aerodynamics
Rule No. 1 for the aspiring burglar: Try to avoid targeting homes with lots and lots of surveillance cameras.
Rule No. 2: If you insist on going to your next burglary in the nude, at least have the professional dignity to wear a Spiderman mask or something.
So begins our tale of the Bare Naked Burglar of Slidell, Louisiana...
Surveillance video at a 61-year-old woman's home shows our hero arriving at 1 a.m. when he decides to take a shower in the driveway with a garden hose. Then he knocks on the front door, presumably to borrow some shampoo. But when he finds no one home, he heads around back, where the camera catches him just hanging out and enjoying the pleasant Louisiana morning.
At some point he decides to break into the house. But police suspect he was hammered, since he had to break multiple windows to get in. Once inside, he has a few drinks, cooks himself supper, then takes yet another shower. Which leads us to Rule No. 3: The considerate burglar is always attentive to personal hygiene.
Finally, he decides to flee by wrapping a sheet around himself and frolicking into the night. Unfortunately, our hero forget the very important Rule No. 4 in the Burglar's Handbook: Don't forget to steal some stuff.
The only thing reported missing was the bed sheet he used to cloak his escape.
UPDATE: Police have made an arrest in the notorious bare naked burglar case. As you may have guessed, there's a story behind this bold caper.![]()
Keith Potter: Bare naked and dangerous, but probably fun to party with
50-year-old Keith Potter of Luling, Louisiana said he had a few beers, took someone else's anxiety medicine -- for reasons unexplained -- then went to bed at 10 a.m. that night. He doesn't remember when he awoke, but he thinks he borrowed his sister's car and drove to Slidell in the buff. The car, as you would expect, has turned up missing.
He vaguely recalls breaking into the country club home, but doesn't remember how he disabled the alarm. Yet a relative remembered him when she saw news of the naked burglar and ratted him to police. He's now charged with burglary and is in jail on a $20,000 bond.
