That is untrue and is only used as a story builder. This sort of lie spoken as fact totally takes out of context the reality and value of the medication for those who need it and how it can return a person disabled with chronic pain back to a functioning normal life or someone with acute pain relief. If you've never had to find out for yourself count yourself fortunate.

People who abuse the medication should be the focus if one needs to build a story, not simply copy/pasting what an idiot journalist said about it. The doctors, medical staff, and patients who have the most experience with oxycodone would never describe it that way because it is untrue and fear mongering.

Also, whomever first wrote that is obviously confusing Oxycodone with Oxycontin. Oxycontin in the past has been described as being like heroin (when crushed and taken orally or snorted, which gives a massive dose instantly and is against how it is to be used), not oxycodone. Oxycodone is the ingredient in percoset or percodan which also contain tylenol or aspirin. Oxycodone also can come without other medications within the tablet. So this guy had percosets or plain short acting oxycodone. Not long acting oxycontin that people overdose with.

The fact is, one could describe paint huffing in the same manner and be as inaccurate. There is enough fear surrounding these medications that causes a lot of unnecessary suffering and disability.

I am part white, and I as well was taken back by the dumb cracker remark, I thought it was distasteful and it made me pause and think for a minute, most likely the culprit who stated the comment is also white. Im not sure how educated you are, by your comment above most likely not very much at all, but I do want to enlighten you, the N-word is very offensive to not just black people but to most people. Maybe you need to brush up on your history and find out that black people were enslaved, beaten, sold and bought, their young daughters were raped by slave owners. They were spoken to nor were they called by their names, they had numbers and were branded. Men were beaten and degraded and demeaned in front of their children and wife. Women were disrespected and abused and demeaned as well. They were forced to work and work, and work, for nothing. They were not allowed to read or write. Then years later they were still treated with such cruelty. They could work everyday, pay taxes, pay bills, raise a family but were not allowed to walk into certain public places, vote, ride in the front of the bus, drink from public water fountains, use public bathrooms, look a whiteman in the eye or speak to white people, tell me that wasnt a travesty, a cruel evil turn of events, a disgusting form of human nature brought on by centuries and centuries of white men being insecure and full of hate, selfish and ignorant. But, look how far we have come. All races, all nationalities. The president of the united states is a black man. Talk about perseverance, strength, willpower, and self worth! So please, please do not compare your feeling of being insulted for seeing the word Cracker being used to the N word being used, there is absolutely no comparison. Period. Do some soul searching, educate yourself, open your mind and heart and always base people on the individual.
