Police say Midyette and Ryan Vigil murdered CNM student Brittni Carlini with a baseball bat a few weeks ago, then put her in a hole on the mesa in Rio Rancho and burned her body. Vigil told police Midyette actually killed Carlini, but Vigil committed suicide in jail. After that, the murder case against Midyette fell apart. The district attorney's office says there just wasn't enough evidence that directly implicated Midyette in Carlini's murder. He was admitted into the University of New Mexico Hospital. Bernalillo County officials said Ryan Vigil was pronounced dead at approximately 2:10 p.m. Thursday. Chief Of Corrections Ron Torres said Vigil had undergone a psychiatric evaluation but was not on suicide watch at the time of the attempt. The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office is investigating. Jail officials also are doing their own investigation. Vigil was arrested Sunday along with Chris Midyette in connection with the death of 20-year-old Brittni Carlini. Authorities say Carlini went to Vigil's home last Thursday to exchange a snowboard. Her beaten and burned body was found in Rio Rancho over the weekend.

The article (ARTICLE btw, this isn't a court) is not suggesting that the girl was murdered under the influence of pot, but that she was killed partly because of her association with illegal drugs. Pot didn't make her killers more aggressive, but they may have become aggressive when threatened by prison or fines. It's not a stretch at all. • I was gonna comment on some of the stupider comments I seen on here,but my God there are so frikkin many!!,What's wrong with you people? It looks like a giant wrestling match of words here!! I won't even mention how stupid it was for somebody(I forget who) said "she deserved what she got because she used drugs..Pot? A drug? Not hardly,but a weed,yea,,oh yea,,and a good one too I might add. It was far more often used to describe a type of person, "Dude! Hide the baggie, here comes Johnny and you know he's a fiendin' junkie!!" "Hey, you know that Bob dude?...yah, he's alright but kinda a junkie." But was also specifically used for non-heroin substance abuse, "Mark is a total crack junkie!" Lastly, just pure logic, "junkie is NEVER a pothead". So, a heroin "junkie" can not also be a fan of weed? People should be more cautious of what type of information they leave on social websites like myspace and facebook to begin with, anyone would assume and speculate about drugs with her myspace link being "Blondstoner420", she's the one that put it out there on a social website for anyone to see, so get over it and move on to the matter at hand here, like why did they murder her? and why the hell was this Ryan Vigil not punished properly for his previous insane crime, instead of a little slap on the hand and released to just go out and to it again, but this time adding murder!

• Smoking pot has nothing at all to do with her murder. The person who wrote the ridiculously stupid line ("There's nothing innocent about being a pothead when it gets you killed") obviously never smoked pot in her life, so her views are totally worthless.
