Reader Tara responds to Burrell Edward Mohler and His 4 Sons Accused of Serial Child Rape, Forcing Sex with Dog. She asks us to remember the Salem Witch Trials:

"A friend of mine in high school got pregnant and was afraid to tell her parents. Rather than tell the truth she claimed the boy she'd had sex with raped her. Long story -- but it was a while before the truth came out. The innocent man served 4 years...

"At the time -- I beleived her accusations of rape - we all did? Who would lie about such a thing? Who inherits the property of the arrested Mohler men? Is it the alleged victims? Where were all the women of this family? Certainly one of these victims had a mother. One of these men lived out of state - are we to assume he drove home once a month to molest his nieces?

"Has ANYONE of you ever heard of the Salem Witch Trials????? A lot of people are quick to judge here. Rape and child abuse are the WORST crimes. But what makes you all so sure it happened? As a woman, I can say anything about any man -- and you people would beleive me without hesitation. I could destroy a man's life simply by making accusations. People lie, it happens.

"You all need to wake up to the reality that sometimes people make things up! Police are quick to make arrests in cases like this. Friends and family alienate the accused -- and say how, "shocked they are!" I did the same thing back in high school when my friend accused a boy of rape. I thought they should have locked him up and thrown away the key.

"If the Mohler men ARE guilty, then I hope they get the worst punishment from God and the law... but please people... let's get a little more evidence than the recalled memories of one woman before we hang these men!"
