Burrell Mohler Serial Rape Case: What if the Victims are Making This Up?

• Normally it is a chain event, grnadfather  abuses son, then son abuses another who abuses another. This fits the profile completely and I have to address people stating what if its a family fued, they obviously do not understand how difficult it is to tell some one you have been raped and harder to tell when you have been molested, there is a difference this is no teen pregnancy case or bf/gf nonsense.

• mileshigh-- trial has been postponed until 2011. three years ago i moved near-ish where this trial is (30 min drive) and it is totally believable that no one would've noticed a 11 1/2 year old girl pregnant. if you aren't in this area of the country.. if you aren't familiar with these parts.. then it's going to sound totally far fetched.. but i am-- and it would be very easy to get away with this sort of crime. looking forward to this trial and hoping that justice is served.

• It's been a year and they haven't resolved any of this? I did a little research on the Internet and I'm boggled. Why are there no answers yet? Did I miss something?

• There is no evidence against these men. The charges against them are delusions, the prosecution of their case is unjust, and the reporting of this case borders on libel. Where is the body of the man they supposedly killed? If someone told you that there was a dead baby buried in the basement, that there was the body of a man somewhere on the property, that there were jars with written details of abuse buried on the property, would you believe that person? What if after the property had been dug up and excavated, the bodies and jars hadn't been found? Would you believe anything else that person had to tell you? I hope the accused men sue the living hell out of their accusers, the cops, and the prosecutors.

• I thought they found video tapes and child porn all over Burrell Sr's house and one of the sons, I think.

• But what about the victims that are never heard? or are still being abused? I myself was a victim of such crimes and never recieved any justice. It too was family members, which is so hard, not only to prove, but to tell someone. For one thing, especially as a child, you feel as if no one will believe you. And second there are the threats.The particular family members threatened me with death. I was 10 years old. Regardless of what someone does to you its hard to get passed the fact that they are famiily and you do care. You just wish it had never happened or that they would just stop. The only reason I was able to finally tell someone was because I was older and no longer of any interest to them. But I wasn't going to let my younger cousins become victims. I was lucky enough to have parents who believed me. And I thank god for that everyday. Just to know that THEY BELIEVED ME was such a relief. I say let the police do their jobs with all of the evidence that they can find.

• having been on the receiving end of sadistic pedophile abuse for the 1st 10 years of my life by an entire family I tend to believe the victims. We aren't a court of Law and are really irrelevant as to our opinions. I am not believed by my own brothers. You want evidence. How about girls with psychiatric damage? The girls...now Womens mental state is evidentiary in my opinion. I worry about the family members who stand by the accused and ask them if any of their children have scars on their wrists from self-cutting? Any problems with alcohol or drugs? An Ostrich sees danger and hides her head in the sand. Any Ostriches out there? Any problems with runaways? How are Your childrens grades? Would You allow your children around these men unsupervised? I think i've said enough.

• A better question, when you consider the implications, is "What if they're not?"

• That is true - they are recalled "memories" of three sisters who is most likely being manipulated by a vengeful ex-wife of one of the brothers. You must also remember that these children are no longer small children. I am not concerned about how my words affect them because I believe they are lying. There is a such thing as collusion and it's extremely hard to fight against. If they are not lying, I shall eat my words and I hope they forgive my skepticism. Either way, there is a lot that needs to be explained - for example, how is it that NOBODY in the community such as school teachers, people at their church, friends, and don't forget the mother who apparently was missing in action at this time or brain dead did not realize that an 11 1/2 year old was pregnant? And not just pregnant, but of full enough term that somebody would find it necessary to allegedly bury the fetus of the forcibly aborted baby in a box and bury it in the basement instead of merely flushing it down the toilet where it would have no chance of ever being detected. And who in the world is this guy in Independence Center that was supposedly kidnapped and murdered and buried on the property by the s themselves? There are a heck of a lot of crazy questions here that make absolutely no sense at all. I sincerely hope these grown s are lying just as much for their sakes as for these men; however, if they are lying they are doing a serious injustice to those true victims of similar barbarities.

• these aren't recalled memories of ONE woman...there are several accounts made by several different children....to the people who write such things: Have you ever thought about how your words will affect these children...havent they gone through enough without hearing people like you question their integrity and motives?

• Sorry for your terrible past Janice. However, not everybody tells the truth about their past. At this point, I personally don't believe the alleged victims. Either way, I hope they are lying rather than to have gone through what they said they did. However, if these men are found not guilty of the charges, which they most likely will because to find somebody guilty you need this thing called EVIDENCE of which none has been found despite accusations of murder and buried bodies, I hope that they sue every single person who has wrongly defamed their reputation, including our ridiculous news media.

• Apparently, none of the folks who have posted comments were sexually abused as children. If they had been they would have no problem believing what is being reported. The kind of sexual abuse being reported is cyclical, it occurs over and over in families where it has taken root. I and my siblings and cousins, male and female, were sexually abused over a period of 10 years by my maternal grandfather and his two sons. When we did tell adults about the abuse we were NOT BELIEVED. SSHHHH, don't tell..... I am 51 years old now, and it has taken me decades to be able to live with this.

• Why isn't there more background articles on the family situation? I saw in one article that there was a big falling out in this family a little while ago, and that there was a huge rift between Burrell and the ex, and the kids sided with the ex. Either these accusations are true and are absolutely horrific and should be punished accordingly, or the accusations are false and are the result of this intense family feud. Why isn't that possible avenue being explored more than the one or two articles which briefly mentioned them? Are journalists so certain of the guilt in this story that they're not willing to consider that possibility? Either way, nobody wins in this situation.

• This is not a case of boyfriend/girlfriend. One women came forward and her siblings have backed her stories. The police waited until they spoke to the other siblings before they arrested the men. The farm has been sold and is no longer in the family. Possible that one of them could be innocent, but not all of them.
