What pisses me off about animal abuse cases is that the offenders are beating something defenseless and helpless and usually have no fault in the matter whatsoever. In most cases, people are taking out their frustration on the animal, in other words "People are beating an innocent animal for something a person did." Now what these fucks need to learn here is that people fuck up the world, people cause problems, people are the reason their lives suck so dont take it out on,say, a puppy, an animal that is known to stay loyal and loving to its masters at all times.
Now in this case the dude was trying to protect his baby (allegedly). Now, first of all, a simple spritz of water or two may have taught the dog not to jump on the couch (thats all. idiot.) Two, the country is overpopulated. The world is overpopulated. And its overpopulated by people, not dogs. People who destroy the planet and every piece of land they get their hands on. So, looking in the planet's best interest, one less human helps a lot less than one less dog. I'm glad I read this story before I thought about taking my bad dog to the pound. I would hate to think someone like would get a hold of him. No dog deserves that. My dog is a little min pinscher, very territorial and nippy. Growls at everyone that comes to our house and has to be locked in the bathroom when my daughter's friends come over. He finally got my daughter last night and put a cut on her face (she's not entirely innocent in this but I have to do something.) Instead of lighting my dog on fire and breaking it's head, I think I'll get a baby gate and lock it in the kitchen away from people since it can't act right and take it to obedience school until it straightens up.

I agree what this young father did was shocking and he has some serious problems. However, he was doing something few fathers (or even mothers) do nowadays--protect their child from dogs. True, the dog was a puppy, but puppies grow into adult dogs and all you have to do is read the papers and watch the TV news to know there are dog attacks on children every day, many resulting in serious injury or death. In 2010 alone, there have already been three or four infants killed by pet dogs in the US. Dogs must be trained from the time they are puppies, although this man obviously knew nothing about training dogs. However, while I condemn his act, I will not condemn his reason for doing it.
