Recently Governor Bev Perdue passed Susie's Law which takes effect 12/1/10 and makes it a felony (instead of a misdemeanor) to torture, abuse or starve an animal. True, the dog was a puppy, but puppies grow into adult dogs and all you have to do is read the papers and watch the TV news to know there are dog attacks on children every day, many resulting in serious injury or death. In 2010 alone, there have already been three or four infants killed by pet dogs in the US. • To Cyndy: I don't understand your insulin reference. I am aware that porcine and bovine insulin are the closest to human insulin and was used for treatment of diabetes for years. However, I am under the impression that synthetic insulin is now used. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

• Blaire, You hope a PETA member is in jail with him? Do you have any idea how many animals PETA kills year. You do know they fund the ALF right? They are against animals being pets or the use of any animals in any products yet some of their board members are diabetic and use insulin which apparently isn't hypocritical at all. PETA is a joke and people should really do some research on them before they start talking about how great they are as people. As for this asshole. • To Delilah: I understand your point, but I have to agree with Mal and radium. Usually the pets are the first ones that get hurt, from there it escalates to people including babies. The puppy was just the sacrificial lamb for what would probably come next. I am an animal lover, but if I had a choice, an animal would be harmed before a baby any day. While we should care for our pets and love them as a member of the family, we still have to recognize that they are pets and not children. We should never put animal rights in front of human rights.

• OMG!!!! This is so messed up. I have a little 2 month old puppy and in fact he is laying on my lap right now. All he wants is love, I treat him no different then my children when they were newborns. This is just sooooo sickening!!! someone needs to hang the sob by his nuts and torture him.
