| Pissed that his wife reported him for beating her with a hammer, Charles Avey confessed to strangling his stepson at Wal-Mart |
"Until you are the abused woman don't judge her. You have no frame of reference. I suspect several of the commentors are right, he probably NEVER hit the child. That is one way abusers can control the victim and make her think her beatings are "her fault" - no one else every gets hurt.
"I suspect the boy was at school when the mother went to the police station and got home without knowing what was going on and this A****** CAME HOME AND PICKED HIM UP (AS IT SAYS IN THE ARTICLE). The son and the mother probably never imagined such a thing could happen."

Don't get me wrong. I really feel sorry for the mother, but I still have to wonder why she didn't have her son with her. I'm sure she never imagined that her husband would resort to murdering her son, but I can't help but think that someone in her position would want to do everything humanly possible to keep that monster away from her kid.
