Manual Ortega was among as many as 20 people who gang raped a girl for two hours outside a high school dance
Reader "LOL Cleveland" responds to A Dozen Watch as a Girl is Gang Raped Outside a Richmond High School Homecoming Dance. She says this happen all too often in gang initiations:

"This is not about god or race or tv or poverty. This is about violence towards women and a culture basically built around it. This is gang culture in which young girls are gang raped to be a part of the gang. This poor girl wasn't being initiated into a gang, but these same scumbags who did this to her have probably already gang raped many poor young women.

"It's just how the culture is. This time, though, they just happened to perform their usual activities on a non-gang girl rather than an initiate. This is why it makes the news. Believe me, this whole thing sickens me and I feel so much for that poor girl...

"I also feel for all those other young girls in which this is a way of life and no one cares about them. Not only that, fellow young girls keep the whole thing going. I hope this case brings to light the gang and gang rape culture that destroys so many women's lives. These type of gang rapists usually keep it within the confines of the "girls of the gang."
