| The brutal video shows pigs being spiked, slammed and left to die |
"Omg why does everything need to get taken out of praportion!? We are a society that generally treats all animals the best they can yes I see that there are some people that did wrong; but just because there are some bad people out there that seems to always outway the good ones...
"I did my homework I looked up info about these 2 companys they are very upset about what happened and they have fixed it they also think it was wrong what happened so quit trying to ruin them and everyone else!!!
"The criminal is the one who sat back with a recorder and let it go on just to get footage that makes it even worse so u are just as guilty so quit trying to make the good companys look bad and look at ur sick selves knowing its wrong and watching it OMG pot calling the kettle! Me I would have stopped a lot of the things seen and hey I am even a meat eater!"

Meateater: Hats off to you!!! Bet you claim to love animals also.
Posted 11/18/2009 at 09:40:32 AMJust like the biggest racists claim that they aren't and the real bigots are the ones calling them out.
Those who abuse animals are just as bad as pedophiles, they take advantage of the helpless (although you will actually get punished for hurting kids), and those in the video are the scum of the earth and so are those who defend them.
Posted 11/18/2009 at 12:16:06 PMI can only assume by your spelling and complete lack of anything but the most rudimentary, reactionary thought -- that you are either 12 or "special." In the first case, shouldn't you be in some remedial school setting at 9:03 on a Wednesday morning? In the second...good for you...you can type!
Posted 11/18/2009 at 02:08:38 PMI agree with Gaggy! The word “special” definitely came to mind when pondering meat eaters insightful and thought provoking comments. The words country and elementary did, too.
As meat eater so eloquently wrote,
"Omg why does everything need to get taken out of praportion!?
I find it completely appalling that any human being believes horrifically abusing animals is being taken out of proportion. Meat eater also wrote that as a “society treats animals the best they can.” There are no laws to protect farm/factory animals and thus, they are treated quite poorly.
Meat eater also wrote,
"The criminal is the one who sat back with a recorder.”
I couldn’t watch and videotape the abuse that took place but if it wasn’t for the videographer, Hatfield Farms would still be abusing the animals at this very moment.
Meat eater, you are not only a meat eater, you are dumb.
Please do some type of homework tonight.
Posted 11/18/2009 at 04:47:00 PMYou know, I have read numerous comments on this site from different stories and I can not believe how many people are so focused on grammar. When people are upset they don't tend to think clearly, they just type or talk. Have you people never spelled something wrong? Seriously, if that's what people focus on the most, that's just sad.
Also, just because you are a meat eater does not mean you are not also an animal lover. I happen to be both. While I don't think its right to torture an animal I also will not stop eating them. Its nature, its what the majority of us do. Yes, I'm one of those people who don't sit there and ponder how they killed the cow every time I bite into a hamburger or steak, I just eat it. Call me ignorant, country, "special" or whatever you like, I'm gonna continue to eat meat and love my animals for the rest of my life.
Another thing, this vidoe was shown to the public after the company had already taken care of the problem. So why are you people still intent on bashing them. Just like with any race, religions, sex, political group, culture, there are some bad people in businesses. Does that mean everybody at the company are evil? No. If you go by that thinking then you are bigots and racists yourselves and just won't admit it.
P.s. I don't exactlly think callin someone you don't know "specail" is right. That just doesn't seem to politically correct to me, its just offensive. But hey this is only my opinion.
Posted 11/18/2009 at 06:06:24 PMSo you think by firing those farmers, it will result in a change in the whole prosedure? Awww poor little company... They give the sows so little space that they can't move, the male piglets are castrated
"by grabbing a piglet out of the crate by his leg, holding him upside down, slicing open his scrotum with a scalpel, and tearing out the testes with their bare hands. Tails are then docked by clipping them at the base with a dull set of pliers" - quote from http://www.mercyforanimals.org/pigs/field-notes.asp
Its not like they get any anesthesia. That's just few of the things these pigs must endure all in the name of profit.
It's not like the pigs are dumb. "I saw firsthand how clever and empathic pigs can be. A sow and her entire litter had escaped their crate and gathered in the hallway. I examined how they'd escaped and discovered that the sow had loosened steel pegs in two different places. I told a co-worker this story and she said that when a sow figures out how to unlock her crate, she often goes around unlocking all of the other crates as well."
Another quote from http://www.mercyforanimals.org/pigs/field-notes.asp
You're opinion have been heard, it's not like it's making much sense though.
Posted 11/18/2009 at 07:12:00 PMActually, dear meat eaters, those poor piggies were pig eaters, cow eaters, turkey eaters, etc in their last life, never minding the straight and narrow. it's called karmic reaction or an eye for an eye... Try wrapping your meat eating brain around that one.
Posted 11/18/2009 at 07:55:13 PMThose crates are designed for the safety of the sows and the piglets. They keep the sows from squishing and eventually killing the piglets, but also giving them enough room to get milk. There was a farm not to far from where I lived that didn't use these crates because they deemed them "cruel". In a year they lost over 200 piglets because the sows squished them. When people got wind of this they wrote to the owner and demanded that they use these crates. He did and has since lost no piglets due to squishings.
Do you people think its cruel for a dogs ears and tails to be cropped?! I happen to think it is. Not only is it cruel, but its also very pointless. So why don't you people try to start a petition on that since its a very common practice with certain breeds of dogs and its very evident when its done.
I think by this being exposed and by the employees being fired will eventually result in different procedures for this and all companies. By the way, not all farmers, feedlots, and the like are like this place. There are some who take very good care of their livestock.
Also stoptheworld, its called the process of life. We eat, we live, we die, we replenish the earth, animals eat the grass/hay that was grown from the earth, we eat the animals, and so on and so on. I don't not believe that because I eat meat I will be killed.

Posted 03/02/2010 at 01:57:40 AMAt one time I would have been confused about the meat industry Not anymore. Beef, Pigs, chicken, turkey, veal, goat, lamb, and a few others. If these slaughter houses were inspected on a regular basses and the inspectors were not crocked the slaughter houses for the most part are run “well what can one say about a slaughter house.” It's the crocked meat houses, the owners and managers, the share hold owners, their in it for the profit they don't care about animals. Those Bastards are the ones that sicken me to the bottom of my stomach. Most of us have no idea what they do to those animals in those respected companies? Example# 1 In a chicken farm the workers were jumping on the chickens breaking their backs, necks, wings etc... In cattle houses broken legs, broken necks, hit with hammers, cattle probes, legs tied and lifted alive, necks cut bleeding out alive, skinned alive. That goes for the rest of the slaughter houses. Veal, These fragile babies are confined to small boxes from the time they are born until the short end of their lives. They are anemic, they never see sun-light, they never move a muscle. Horses their meat goes for $45.00-$75.00 a pound, they are skinned alive, broken legs, beat, these great companies LOVE the pregnant mares they cut their bellies wide open while she is alive, the baby foal falls to the ground alive, the baby takes it's first breath and these brave workers skin the baby alive before it can even stand up. So yes things have got to change. We need MEAT, the laws in this COUNTRY has got to change in the way these animals are slaughtered. I love animals, my family eats meat, these companies are worth billions of dollars, so why the hell can't they find a humane way to slaughter these defenseless animals? This is just some of the examples of the way these animals are treated that these companies don't want the public to know.
