Neighbors believe she was driven to armed robbery to provide for her family
Roxanne Pennock, a suburban mother of five children, apparently took to robbing banks in Southern California to support her broke family. In a sign of the fiscal woes hitting middle class America, she was caught in a red minivan used to escape from her latest caper...

Pennock is suspected of four armed heists in the San Diego area. She's accused of robbing a San Diego National Bank and a U.S. Bank last month. She's also believed to have robbed a Bank of America in October.

Last week, she caught on a freeway after police identified the minivan used to bolt from an armed heist of a Chase Bank. In each case she either flashed a gun or told tellers she was armed.

The Poway, California mom has five kids and lists herself as a Costco cashier on her LinkedIn page. At least one neighbor says she and her husband are experiencing major financial woes, and she's filed for bankruptcy once before. But there's no word on how those troubles came about or what hubby does for a living. He's declined comment.

It seems Roxanne -- see her Facebook page here -- was even robbing banks near her daughter's school. Neighbor Tom Leete said the elementary that his daughter also attends was on lockdown after someone in a red minivan robbed a bank a block away.

"It's the sign of the times," Leete told 10News. "...Because they're looking for a woman who robbed a bank, and it's bizarre -- it's the person across the street."

He believes the woman was forced into a life of crime to support her family. "Seems like a woman very desperate to provide for her family."

His wife Lisa agrees: "I'm sure she was feeling some kind of real desperation and maybe this was her only option."
