| The group ran as if it was a pedophile's country club. Members maintained their dues by continuing to share child porn. |
The case began last year when police busted a pedophile in western Pennsylvania. He began cooperating, and apparently turned them on to a private social networking group. Members shared their child porn with others around the country. But this was something of a pervert's country club. Not just anyone could get in.
According to the feds, Stephen Sims of San Leandro, California served as the "security officer" of the group, which used the networking site Multiply. He was charged with ensuring new prospects weren't police...
He described himself as a "den mother" in one email, and warned new people to post only non-sexual photos of adults until they were scrutinized. Once you got in, you had to maintain your dues by continuing to share child porn to ensure you weren't a cop. Police believe as many as a 100 people were involved.
The pictures were the usual fare of pre-adolescent kids having sex with each other and adults. One particularly offensive photo showed an infant girl spreading her legs.
So far eight have been arrested for engaging in a child exploitation enterprise and conspiring to violate federal child exploitation laws. But as the feds dig deeper and members begin to rat, we can expect a lot more.
