Man kills serial pedophile

| The Geezer Bandit has taken down five banks since August, no doubt to fund his bingo habit |
We're not sure why employees were incapable of following a 70-year-old man on foot. Then again, this is Bank of America, which seems incapable of doing anything these days besides losing money.
But it does seem a new brand of criminal has taken to robbery lately. First we had the broke guy who decided to stop and pray for 10-minutes while robbing a check cashing joint. Then we had Roxxane Pennock, a broke mother of five who's accused of knocking off four banks near San Diego.
What's next, priests robbing 7-Elevens to fund their pre-schools?

Banks have the same business model for risk management that cargo ships do: let the robbers take the loot, file a claim with insurance, pad consumer prices with the losses (with banks it would be more and higher fees). Insurance companies do the same thing, and pass along the losses to us, the consumers, in higher premiums.
Posted 11/19/2009 at 05:31:19 PMI live in san diego..its expensive!! One thing I will say in all seriousness which may seem trivial ...but there is no way this article would have used the 'N' word if the guy had been black but because he's old you can call him a 'geezer' and make jokes..it's called ageism and needs to stop.
Posted 11/19/2009 at 09:02:11 PMI live in San Diego also and I believe it was our local tv news that dubbed him the geezer bandit. If you don't like it then email channel 8.

Just because some TV station used the pejorative term 'Geezer' to describe an old man doesn't mean TCR or any other media outlet has to copy it. Jeff is right. And had the TV station said 'old maid' or 'hag' or used some other negative word to describe a old female bank robber, it should be just as offensive, regardless of which outlet originated the connotation.
Of course, it seems rather pedestrian now that every mainstream news 'source' seems to copy nearly verbatim stories from other mainstream 'sources'.
