Jeffery Lee Guillory, Suspected Serial Killer, Linked to Murder of At Least 3 Women
Thursday, Dec. 17 2009 @ 2:57PM
Guillory, of Lafayette, Louisiana, has been linked by DNA to the murders of three Baton Rouge women a decade ago.
Florida Edwards, 36, was found dead inside an abandoned building after police received a tip from a nearby pay phone. She'd been staying in a house not far from where her body was found.
| Sylvia Cobb was found in an abandoned building with her head crushed in in 2001 |
Renee Newman, 46, lost her life in 2002 when she was found strangled to death in a parking lot behind a store.
At the time, police believed the women may be linked to six other women found slain around central Louisiana in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Though Guillory has been in jail since last year on unrelated charges, detectives are also investigating whether he could be involved in a series of murders in Jennings, Louisiana, where cops believe a serial killer is on the loose.
So far, eight women in the town of just 10,546 people have been killed between 2005 and this past August. Many of the murders took place before Guillory was sent to jail on the unrelated charge.

As Pete said above, the police may be investigating if Guillory is involved in any of the Jennings murders.
Posted 12/17/2009 at 11:38:34 PMGuillory is NOT a suspect in the murders of: Laconia 'Muggy' Brown, Crystal Shay Benoit Zeno, Brittney Gary or Necole Necole Guillory.
Guillory was in the Lafayette Parish jail from Jan. 25, 2008, on a different criminal matter.
To be correct Guillory was arrested in late 2007/early 2008 for accosting a woman, robbing her and breaking her ankle in Lafayette, La. Apparently the arrest was made in Baton Rouge.
Guillory was returned to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center in March 2008.
Guillory was transferred back to the East Baton Rouge Parish jail on June 29, 2009 where he was charged with 3 murders this week.
Guillory has had many arrests and charges though out south Louisiana.
Posted 12/17/2009 at 11:49:26 PMI thought all serial killers were white.
Posted 12/19/2009 at 10:51:00 AMits funny how mr. guillory resembles derrick todd lee. i am a firm believer that mr. lee did not commit those murders. so far, the manner in which dene colomb was murdered and the location is almost identical to ms. cobb. i strongly believe and said so to my family in the past that derrick todd lee is an innocent man that was framed. going back to the last entry from whitney, i also thought that serial killers were white.
Posted 12/28/2009 at 04:07:06 AMChris, interesting you say that. I haven't met anyone who feels that way. I agree with you, there was a lot of fishy stuff going on during that investigation.
Posted 01/04/2010 at 01:52:18 PMJeffery is a cool dude and penpal of mine.
Posted 01/21/2010 at 02:51:13 PMHopefully a lot of these unsolved murders will be solved due to this new developement. Does anyone know how many of the murders in Louisiana that they are investigating to see if he is involved happened before he was put in jail?
Chris- if thats the case I hope they look into it. Only going off of what you said, that is a wild coincidence that murder is so similar to Sylvia Cobbs. Where was the location?
Rest in peace to all these women, whether they were or werent victims of this man.
I pray to God all comes to light and he is charged which each and every murder he committed.
Posted 01/21/2010 at 03:46:10 PMI remember when Guillory was on the loose, still killing women in my area, Lafayette, Louisiana. I also remember seeing the artist rendition of the Guillory from witness accounts. There were even billboards up around town with this drawing. However, the drawing resembled nothing like Guillory. In fact, it wasn't even a drawing of an older, black male, but of a young, white, or perhaps hispanic, male. Am I the only person who found this disturbing?
