Jeffery Lee Guillory, Suspected Serial Killer, Linked to Murder of At Least 3 Women

​Jeffery Lee Guillory has been suspected of being a serial killer going all the way back to 2001, when police in Baton Rouge found his fingerprints at the murder scene of Sylvia Cobb. But it was only yesterday that they were finally able to bring charges against him for killing three women -- and there could be many more...

Guillory, of Lafayette, Louisiana, has been linked by DNA to the murders of three Baton Rouge women a decade ago.

Florida Edwards, 36, was found dead inside an abandoned building after police received a tip from a nearby pay phone. She'd been staying in a house not far from where her body was found.

​Sylvia Cobb, 36, was discovered beaten to death two years later. Her head had been crushed and her body was badly decomposed. She last seen getting into an SUV with someone in the wee hours of the morning, and she too was found in an abandoned building.

Renee Newman, 46, lost her life in 2002 when she was found strangled to death in a parking lot behind a store.

At the time, police believed the women may be linked to six other women found slain around central Louisiana in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Though Guillory has been in jail since last year on unrelated charges, detectives are also investigating whether he could be involved in a series of murders in Jennings, Louisiana, where cops believe a serial killer is on the loose.

So far, eight women in the town of just 10,546 people have been killed between 2005 and this past August. Many of the murders took place before Guillory was sent to jail on the unrelated charge.
