Jonathan Babineaux was arrested after a traffic stop in Georgia
Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux was arrested in a traffic stop last night, charged with marijuana possession and intent to distribute.

A Gwinnett County, Georgia officer pulled over Babineaux and another man -- 25-year-old Aaron Robinson Minneapolis -- then smelled pot. A search of the Cadillac Escalade revealed three bags containing a total of 40 grams.

But while possession seems clear, the distribution charge is a little hard to buy...

Two years ago, Jonathan Babineaux was arrested for beating his girlfriend's pit bull to death, but that case was dismissed
Last year, Baineaux signed a $25 million contract extension. It's hard to believe he needs to engage in minor league drug distribution to supplement his income. And it's hard not to believe that a man that rich buys his weed in bulk.

The player's also been charged with having no tag light and driving without a license and an expired tag.

This isn't the first round of trouble for Baineaux. In 2007, he was charged with animal cruelty for killing his girlfriend's pit bull. The official ruling was blunt-force trauma.

But that case was dismissed nine months later after it was proven that the dog had a history of unprovoked attacks, and that he was worried about the safety of his 5-month-old daughter.
