Katie O’Connell Missing; College Student Last Seen Getting into a Cab Outside Nightclub

UPDATE: Katie O’Connell has been found alive and well, as some of our readers have already astutely noted. It appears she wasn’t a victim of foul play, just a victim of excess partying…

Katie O’Connell on the night she went missing after getting into a cab outside a Chicago nightclub

Katie O’Connell, a 20-year-old college student from Oak Brook,
Illinois, spent Sunday with her father getting ready for a birthday
party at the Underground bar in downtown Chicago. A photo from the club
that night shows a beautiful young woman content and smiling.

But Katie apparently tired early, and decided to take a cab home by herself. And that’s the last time she was seen, getting into a cab outside the club.

Katie was close to her family, and they say the College of Dupage student would never spend this much time away without contacting her people. She is 5-foot-10, 135 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a white blouse, black skirt, and burgundy pea coat.

UPDATE: Katie O’Connell has been found alive and well, though maybe a bit hungover and embarrassed.

Here’s the latest story: She left the bar early Sunday morning with a male acquaintance and went with two men to a Chicago apartment. At some point, the male friend took a cab home while Katie stayed at the apartment.

Unfortunately, the friend was perhaps a bit hammered, because he couldn’t remember where the apartment was. Katie finally called home yesterday when she saw that police were looking for her on the news. Apparently her cell phone was dead the night she disappeared and no one could call her.
