Pedophile politician's $150,000 bribery scheme

Hook, you see, had a drug problem five years ago. She's been straight ever since, say relatives. And while there's always a chance of a relapse, she was working two jobs and raising her 17-year-old daughter when she vanished, certainly an indication that she turned her life around.
There could be some validity to their claims. As we learned from the case of Cleveland serial killer Anthony Sowell, police don't look very hard for missing women with drug histories.
Last week, Angela's boyfriend got a call from her credit card company, wondering if someone had fraudulently used her card three days after she disappeared. He doesn't think Angela used it, and family members don't suspect the boyfriend, who's the father of her child.

The cops should be taking this case seriously! She was working two jobs, raising a child- doesnt sound like someone 'out of control' on drugs! And even if she experienced a sudden and immediate relapse on the way to do her Christmas shopping it doesnt explain why she has simply vanished!!
Posted 12/21/2009 at 07:22:20 PMWhat gets me is how they cant get off of their asses to look for this woman, yet if she was selling a small amount of pot and was given up to the cops, they'd track her down to throw her and charge her in a heartbeat. Sometimes I really think cops have their priorities wrong.
It seems if its more likely they can make it an open and closed case, they'll jump at it, but things like this they'll wait it out.
Before I even saw the reference to Anthony Sowell I was remembering that lady saying how she reported her mothers disapearance and they said she'd come home once the drugs ran out. They could have possibly saved that womans life, by just finding her before it was too late. Its going to be a terrible tragedy if this woman turns up dead and her family knows it could have been prevented. Come on KCK.
Posted 12/21/2009 at 08:08:25 PMWhy are the police not looking at the recent use of her credit card. They should be able to solve this fast with looking into who is using her card (video camera)..
Posted 12/21/2009 at 08:25:59 PMThats true, you would think in these day and age with all the identidy theft going on they'd have been able to track down who was using it by now!
Posted 12/21/2009 at 08:29:14 PMThey are looking for her dark blue 2004 Dodge Stratus. Keep an eye out if youre in or near Kansas City, Kansas!
Posted 12/21/2009 at 08:32:15 PMhave the released the plate numbers? I live not even 20 minutes from KCK. I'll be looking for a blue stratus with Kansas plates everywhere I go now lol. Thanks Ella.
Posted 12/21/2009 at 09:04:47 PMRE: the credit card.
Posted 12/21/2009 at 09:23:39 PMThats right! It sounds like the Kansas City Police are waiting for the family will solve the case for themselves!
The boyfriend recently discovered the credit card was used a few days after she went missing- if the police had done their jobs correctly they would have accessed this information as soon as Angela was reported missing! If the KCK police had actually attempted some type of rudimentary investigation by accessing these details from the outset, they might have found themselves in the position to act immediately after the credit card was used to track Angelas location!
Alas, they decided to sit on their assess and wait for the credit card company to eventually report the suspicious activity 14 days after the fact!!! During this time the trail has gone cold, and, if foul play is indeed involved, the chances of finding Angela alive have become severely diminished!
Congratulations KCK Police!
I havent noticed any number plate details but it would be worth following up on given you live in the area Gina! Hopefully that info will eventually be released, (may have been already but I havent come across them).
Posted 12/21/2009 at 09:31:29 PMI'll look. Thanks.
Posted 12/21/2009 at 09:41:05 PMI work with Angela...and i don't know if she lives in KCK but i know she worked with me in KCMO so it's important we look in both places for her. Everyone is worried sick.
Posted 12/22/2009 at 06:32:04 PMI also work with Angie and have known her several years. The problem is not just the police, but the family. We were worried about her Monday when she didn't show up for work. Her family was not near as concerned and thought she had a relapse. I work with her very closely every day and she is a hard worker and a very caring person. We were unable to file reports and help earlier because we are not immediate family. We have made fliers that have been passed out all over the area. Please help us find her...we miss her terriblym
Posted 12/22/2009 at 07:58:50 PMWe do miss her terribly. She is an amazing person. I work at a nursing home with her. Not only are the staff members missing her but the residents as well, she brought so much joy into peoples lives. always smiling when you saw her. And even if she has relapsed, it doesnt matter. we still need to find her and help her.
Posted 12/22/2009 at 08:20:42 PMy do they pick and choose who is r is'nt important to look for n do there jobs, i pray for this womans family n friends and hope that police dept start trying to right their wrongs.
Posted 12/22/2009 at 11:28:21 PMI work at the Quality Inn and Suites off of Armour Road, (KCMO) we'd be happy to pass out fliers to people coming in. There are so many hotels in the area who would be happy to do the same.

It goes on all over the country. My bestfriends dad was murdered September 4, 2007. Her father smoked weed and regularly had it in the house. He was shot in his front yard, with his car pulled into the yard as if he noticed someone was in his house. No drugs other than marijuana were found in his system, yet meth was found on the table. I was over his house regularly and never once did he ever seem like he was on drugs other than weed. And weed and meth have complete opposite effects so its not like we'd be oblivious and think he was only high on weed if he was smoking/snorting meth. They ruled it as a drug deal gone bad because of the meth on the table (which could have very well be left by the person who did it). Yet no meth was found in his system.
Posted 12/22/2009 at 11:43:49 PMOur (not anymore) friends have even admitted to other friends that they had something to do with it. Police were notified and the person who they confessed to went to the detective on the case herself. Nothing has came of it. The point of this, if they think its drug related they dont care. If they can rule something as a drug deal gone bad, drug related, missing person as a someone on a drug benge, they will happily sit around and do nothing.
By the way, it shouldnt surprise you that I live not even 20 minutes away from KCK. That tells you something.
Posted 12/22/2009 at 11:44:58 PMThere has been a photo released: The photo was taken at Wal-mart in Roland Park. The photo is of two individuals that used Angela's credit card. The KCK deteective heading up this case is Det. Sanchez 913-573-6073.

Can the fliers be emailed. If I contact Timberlake Care will someone be able to communicate with me about this case? Is there a specific person to contact?
Posted 12/23/2009 at 09:35:27 PMyes. it was on the 6:00pm Ch. 5 news. I had the photo emailed to me from Det. Sanchez.
Posted 12/23/2009 at 09:45:36 PMI went to junior high with Angie and haven't seen her since but this is terrible news. I am praying for her safe return and my thoughts are with her family.
Posted 12/29/2009 at 05:46:48 PMDet. Sanchez is my cousin. I'm sure he is doing what he can, since it came across his desk.
Posted 12/29/2009 at 06:12:47 PMNot sure if many know that Angie recently took my daughter in. Angie's lives with my daughter's father. My teenager has become unruly and irresponsible. Angie came to my house and picked up my daughter and helped her. Took care of of MY daughter as if she was her own without complaint. I never accepted her completely because of her drug problem in the past. We are not best friends, but I developed the greatest respect for her watching her clean herself up. She had my daughter and her boyfriend at the house. She also has a 17 yr old she has re- connected with. I don't think she planned to go out and do drugs and just leave them all. She has 2 teen age girls looking up to her and a close family. My daughter said her and Angie had been Christmas shopping on line for her siblings. Sounds to me like she was looking forward to the holidays. She hasn't called anyone. My daughter is devastated and I have an uneasy feeling. My prayers are with her family. Angie is a good person. And it's unfortunate they stalled with the Missing Persons Unit because of a history with drugs. Just sad.
MISSING: BLUE 2004 DODGE STRATUS MISSOURI TAG #: AC8K2J
Posted 12/29/2009 at 06:15:03 PMI really hope this doesnt become an unsolved case. I was really hoping to read some sort of update, or that they found her. Even if she left for bad reasons like they thought, atleast she'd be safe. I really really hope she or something turns up. Poor kids.
Posted 12/29/2009 at 06:36:45 PMI am sorry to say they did find her body we will all miss her and this is a horrible tragedy
Posted 12/29/2009 at 06:54:10 PMThe Kansas City Star is reporting the body of a woman found in the parking lot of Shawnee Mission Medical Center frozen solid, local television news is reporting it is the body of Angela Hook. We had a very bad snow storm here and they are indicating it seemed that the person was deceased prior to the storm . . . check for more details with local news outlets.
Posted 12/29/2009 at 06:56:51 PMSorry - should have added her body was found inside a vehicle.
Posted 12/29/2009 at 06:59:26 PMRest In Peace Angela Hook.

Posted 12/29/2009 at 09:51:54 PMI and everyone at work, is praying for her Daughter and the rest of the family. We all are very upset about angie, we loved her so much!! She was so very kind and so thoughtful to all of us and the residents. No-one can take her place nor that special smile she allways gave us!! What really pisses me off is people saying she relapsed back on drugs? Since when did God get off his thrown and put other people in charge of Judging her? Hell we all have something in our closests (so to speak), we all still love and care about what happened to her. So God has other plans for her, which we may never understand? But I know she must be a very special and the most beautiful angle, looking over all of us!! My prayers and thoughts go out to her daughter, and the rest of her family. any thing at all we can do, please call us at timberlake carecenter. WE LOVE YOU ANGIE, you will allways , allways be missed!!!
Posted 12/30/2009 at 04:57:45 PMThe service for Angie will take place today. The HOMICIDE investigation will be ongoing. The Hook family would like to thank everyone that has offered genuine concern throughout this horrible process. It has been clear that the local media has falsly reported many aspects of this tragedy. It is very easy to see that, multiple suspects are in custody and the Merriam Police has officially released a statement that Angela's death has been ruled a Homicide. So, please don't judge Angie, she never judged people. I'm truley sorry for those individuals that used this forum as a way to pass judgment on the family or more importantly Angie, the victim.
Posted 01/03/2010 at 01:17:28 PMKinda sounds like a case of While She Was Out...
Posted 01/28/2010 at 08:01:09 PMWow I was hoping to hear an update on this one then I read further into the post. So they found her and its a homicide investigation? Wish I could hear more in the future about this. :(
