Model Paula Sladewski Sent Text Saying Boyfriend Kevin Klym Was "Trying to Kill Me"

It was the last time anyone saw her alive. Klym reported her missing when she didn't return to their hotel. The next day, someone alerted police to a burning garbage can on a Miami street. In it police found the remains of Paula, who's body was burned so bad there isn't enough left to send back to her family in Michigan for a funeral.

They say Paula texted her former boyfriend saying "help me, I'm in trouble, he's trying to kill me," her stepfather Richard Watkins told Fox News.
Dad says the couple had been together for two years but fought constantly. Klym was arrested last month after he broke Paula's nose in an argument.
"They had a horrible relationship," Watkins told Fox. "I have told them from the start that they shouldn't be together."
Klym has been named a person of interest in the case, but police say that's only because he was the last to see Paula.

Last summer, Paula was arrested in Rancho Cucamonga, California after allegedly breaking a bottle over her boyfriend's head at the home they shared. She was originally charged with felony assault, but the case was dismissed last month.
Not to be outdone, Klym was arrested at a Livonia, Michigan hotel in December for breaking his sweetheart's nose. They were in Michigan visiting Paula's relatives at the time, and Klym reportedly had a court date last Monday to answer for his crimes.
The latest reports say Paula was last seen at a Miami nightclub between 7 and 9 a.m. Sunday morning. Her body was found burning in a trash can later that day. Police believe she was dead before she was set on fire.

Police so far are only describing the man as a "black male," which doesn't narrow it down much. Witnesses saw Paula walking away with him at 7:21 a.m. on Jan. 3.
Klym says he took a cab back to his hotel, which Miami police confirm.

Kevin Klym would seem the perfect suspect for his girlfriend's murder. They fought often and had a history of hurting each other. They were shouting at each other at a nightclub the night before she disappeared. She refused to leave when bouncers booted him from the club. And she was seen the next morning when she left holding hands with an unknown man.
She was also a stripper, which might suggest a loose definition of fidelity.
But Kelly Farris, Paula's sister, doesn't believe Klym killed her. She says they loved each other, despite frequent fights when they drank. Moreover, he didn't have a rental car while in Miami. She thinks it would be impossible for him to kill her and then dispose of the body that far away from the hotel.
Plus, unlike the case of Josh Powell, thought to have killed his wife, Klym has assisted police all along, and has even hired a private detective to help with the investigation. This may be one case where the most glaring suspect is actually innocent.
