It was a minor league bust, with some minor league dope dealers to match. On Monday, police in Marathon, Florida were tipped off to six pot plants growing in a area. So after nabbing the weed, they left a fake note offering to return the weed for a $200 ransom...

"Thanks for the grow!" the note read. "You want them back? Call for the price... We'll talk.''

They didn't expect anyone to fall for it. Then again, they'd never run into a criminal as dumb as 48-year-old Steven Locasio. Ten minutes later, the phone rang. On the horn was Locasio, who offered to pay $200 to get his weed back.

When our hero showed up at the meet, he was promptly busted by police.

That led to an even worse moment: a subsequent search of Locasio's apartment. There detectives found 20 more plants, four pounds of freshly harvested weed, and some Oxycontin. They also discovered $1,380 in cash.

Now Locasio and his wife Christine Locasio are charged with cultivation of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and sale of marijuana. They also face felony charges of being really gullible and not treating product loss as an everyday business expense.
